Quiet Great breakfast Coffee served in the garden Friendly
I stayed at Stanhope hall when I attended a wedding. It was clean and tidy. Breakfast was delicious - good value for money
Excellent views property clearly reflects the location
The rooms were a bit cold and it was not til the morning we found extra bkankets
Quiet, location, view over fields, very comfortable and great breakfast.
Friendly welcome and unusual house . Handy for some beautiful countryside and views.
Nearest pubs for food a drive away
We were warmly greeted. Comfortable, spotlessly clean room with great views. Super drawing room for reading and relaxing Local pub Watts Russell Arms - eccentric - superb tapas on the evening we went
Extremely friendly greeting with tea and cake in the garden. Location was perfect - total peace, no traffic noise. Superb views and most attractive gardens. Bedroom totally clean and comfortably "shabby" - luverly! Excellent breakfast menu. Ideal centre for walkers.
Minor points really Toast too thin and underdone. A simple evening meal option would have been most welcome in view of the isolated location.
The peace and quiet, proximity to lovely walks, very friendly staff and great breakfast. Thanks, Lynn! The grounds are beautifully kept. Really loved this place.
Peaceful place Fantastic staff Really large and comfortable room Great breakfast and tea/flapjack on arrival.
Nothing - it is a superb venue
The location was beautiful and relatively easy to find. The lady who met us was welcoming and offered us a cup of tea in the lovely garden. The bed was comfortable and clean an the room, characterful. The breakfast options were fantastic and the coffee delicious. All in all a very good stay! :-)
The setting was fabulous and the kings room was spacious with a comfy big bed and well equipped en suite. Breakfast was delightful! Owners kindly lent us glasses and had champagne on the lawn to watch the sun go down..... DEFINATELY be back!
Nothing to put!
Everything about the Hall was great for an overnight stay or longer.
I was visiting Alton Towers with my teenage children and the location is perfect, just over 20mins drive, the staff were lovely and facilities great, i would highly recommend to anybody
I now have to trouble my brain to go back to Stanshope Hall because I love the place!!! Oops not a negative but true
It is in a superb location and it's such an interesting, attractive accommodation with a strong sense of history and yet so thoughtfully decorated. The breakfast was excellent and we had an equally enjoyable evening meal at the Watts Russell near by .
Booked room on booking.com, arrived only to find we'd been double booked with couple who had a groupon offer. Weren't informed of this until we had traveled considerable distance to get to location. They then tried to sell us the last available room, which was a far lesser specification, at a discount. In my opinion they allowed us to travel to the hotel in the hope we would agree to fill their last available room. A phone call in the morning would be, in my option, a far more professional way to conduct business. Probably an innocent mistake but could have, and should have been dealt with better.
We liked the friendly welcome and the lovely cake and coffee on arrival! also the décor of the house and the comfortable lsitting room.
The quiet rural location, modern facilities in a building that is kept as close as possible to the time it was built ( English civil war ? ). With no street lighting to be seen for miles around & a clear night sky it would be an excellent location for astronomers. Also being an aircraft enthusiast it was nice to watch the aircraft heading to I believe Manchester airport.
Lovely individual rooms good breakfast tea on lawn on arrival with delicious homemade cake
Only downside is if you want to go and eat in the village there are no local taxi firms
Polite and courteous welcome at reception, by the newest member of their staff (Benjo). Excellent breakfast. Room spacious and clean. An ideal location for those wanting a peaceful break in the Derbyshire Dales.
Lovely place, once I found it! Staff were very accommodating. Enjoyed the breakfast and tea and flapjack. I would stay here again.
Booking.com states that Stanshope Hall is 10 miles from Bakewell. On the AA routeplanner it is 17 miles from Bakewell. I believed the distance to be 10 miles so this was the dealbreaker. I booked the accommodation on this basis. Realised I should have checked out the distance with AA routeplanner first as I had to be in Bakewell at a certain time the next morning. This meant that breakfast had to be rushed (served at 8.30 a.m.) and eaten within 15 minutes - felt this placed a certain amount of pressure on both the staff and myself re time limit.
Everything we were treated very well lovely home made flap jacks and shortbread lovely real fire. Excellent breakfast (Two eggs!!) great
Only stayed 1 night!!
pleasant location, the coffee and cake on arrival. The extremely delicious breakfast.Good sized room.
Luke warm showers in the morning!
