Ideal location Friendly landlord Good Beer Flexible with time when booking out Nice breakfast
Parking could be a problem as it is street parking only
The bells of the nearby church that chime every 15 minutes, also during the night.
Late checking in time
You got what you paid for - the inn is very old and the room tired, but if you are on a budget, adequate.
Friendly staff Value for money
Carpet in bathroom - personal taste prefer tile or hard floor surface.
Judy was a wonderful host, taking a real interest in our stay. We felt comfortable and welcome throughout. Thank you!
Good location, great value and customer service.
Nothing, as was aware of what to expect
Tideswell is a very nice village and I would be surprised if anyone disagreed with that. My room was clean and comfortable supplied with teamaker and ample supplies. The bathroom was spotless with a quality shower. The free breakfast was a most generous varied fresh spread. I also plumped for the extra cost cooked meal which I would heartily recommend. In fact I ate so much I seriously thought I was going to die about 20 minutes after I had finished. This Inn is a really good value for money deal.
Anyone staying at the Star Inn on this value deal will have to realise that it shares the same drawbacks as most other similar establishments. That is no television and irritating banging plus a road directly outside. Some other reviewers have mentioned about the Cathedral bells ringing throughout the night but I only heard them at midnight. It was quiet enough between 1am and 7am. One of the double electric sockets unfortunately pulled out of the wall in my room when I was unplugging something.
Judy went aboveand beyond. She was knowledgeable of the area and couldn't do enough to make sure my stay was pleasant! I was there for a nearby wedding on my own and felt safe and secure and comfortable! Thankyou!
The location in the Peak District The price The breakfast The pleasant, well-kept room had none of the pretensions of a modern 'design' hotel - this one was cosy, with colourful traditional fabrics etc. Nor did the pub itself suffer from the main risk of inn accommodation - noise into the night.
Nothing in particular.
Friendly hosts great breakfasts and nice bathroom.
Made very welcome and looked after. Great location with warm and friendly staff
The welcome was great, the landlord very helpful and friendly, without being too fussy. Lovely little pub with good food. Plenty of little extras like bubble bath, good quality shampoo etc.
Only slight downside was having to share a bathroom.
friendly owners, clean comfortable bed, lovely cooked breakfast for only £3.50
shared bathroom and toilet can get very busy if you all need it at the same time, but it is clean and the bath and shower are both lovely. Brass bed a bit noisy against the wall if you wanted to get intimate!
The nice ambience with Father & son hosts running an obviously popular pub (judging by the locals present). A well stocked (toiletries) & a choice of bath or shower in the bathroom. An excellent light breakfast provided made this overnight' excellent value for money.
Front single bedroom is single glazed & thus is prone to traffic noise and Cathedral bells chiming on the hour. The lack of any obvious Dinner menu required a walk to the "Horse &Jockey" for an evening meal
The Star is very friendly, comfortable, informal and relaxed, in a lovely little village.
If you like to go to bed early, this is maybe not the place to stay as the bar can stay open late at weekends.
We were greeted on arrival by the proprietor and shown to our rooms which were clean and ample for our needs, clean towels on our beds and tea/coffee with kettle in our rooms.Lovely cooked breakfast for only a little extra charge, recommend.
Local Church Bells ring every 15 minutes through the night, take some ear plugs with you if you're a light sleeper !.
I had a comfortable room, i was looked after well by staff who were very friendly in a lovely little pub. Most notably at a ridiculously small extra cost i was served a wonderful breakfast and treated with a great deal of trust!
There was nothing i didn't like as i knew what i was getting would be no thrils accommodation.it exceeded my expectations and i intend to visit again for longer next time.
authentic atmosphere, delightful staff.
Very friendly staff, wonderfull breakfast, clean and cosy room. Perfect location. Pub in the ground floor with evening meals.
Shared bathroom with toilet in one room can be sometimes a bit complicated when accomodated more people, but we had no problem; and there is another toilet in the pub on the ground floor.
Total friendliness and trusting nature of the landlord and landlady
comfortable rooms and clean nice chap running it
loud roads but was not too bad
Land lady couldn't do enough for us, very accommodating. Liked that she arranged pizza delivery! Felt very comfortable and cosy!
Friendy, helpful staff and fabulous cooked breakfast.
