On arrival we were told our £85 room for 3 deal included a £40 supplement payment. This was not clear when booking the room and the small print on the email did not specify how big the supplement would be (plus the booking was already made once the email was sent). I explained this but the staff were not interested in bargaining with the price. We only stayed because there would have been a cancellation fee if we'd gone elsewhere and it was late on a Friday night and pouring with rain. I consider the way you advertised the deal to be misleading to the point of deceptive and I was unimpressed that the hotel were inflexible with their prices. Had we known about the £40 extra we would have sought different accommodation. I will not be visiting again and I will not recommending this hotel to friends. The shower was not very good. I consider this hotel to be over-priced.

Location in centre of town, homely, clean, comfortable and good food. Staff very friendly and family room we picked was spacious with tea/coffee facilities, just perfect!

Very friendly staff. Fantastic with our energetic 2 year old. Rooms were very nice, breakfast was relaxed and delicious. Bar area was welcoming.

My wife and I liked the style and layout of the hotel, its lounge furniture and the decor. The breakfast was also excellent.

There was nothing we did not like. We would have preferred the room to be bigger but it was clean and freshly decorated.

I always enjoy my visits to The Station Hotel as it is a warm and friendly atmosphere.

I arrived later at 8.10pm following a long business day and I couldn't have a meal. Neither was I offered a sandwich etc. However, I was directed to the local Italians and chip shop.

The noise extractor fan outside of room 2. It can be heard inside the room and detracts from the atmosphere of a nice quite Sunday morning lie in.

The place was clean and tidy. Room was comfortable and warm. We had no problems with noise. Food was good and reasonable. All in all a job well done

No downside really

Staff were approachable and friendly. Food was local, good quality, and well cooked. Room was clean and comfortable.The site of the town gave us easy access to all the other Border towns too.

Lack of private parking. No safety grab rail in the shower.Could have done with another chair in the room.otherwise whhat was there not to like.we enjoyed our stay.

Bedroom had a frosted window, when we opened window we looked out to a flat roof and a run down building. We didn't have a cooked breakfast but the continental breakfast was very poor, basic cereal and only toast was on offer and they did not provide brown bread, only white. We felt a bit uncomfortable that they had taken the payment from my credit card without even asking how I would like to pay. Then told me we were very lucky that we got the room for the price quoted on Booking.com as it's normally £20 more. The bedroom was very small. I think we probably got the smallest room with the worst outlook but as we were only staying one night we didn't ask to be moved.

Another rugby visit for us and therefore the Station Hotel is very convenient. We had a lovely early meal before the game, I would recommend the Scottish Salmon. And a leisurely drink in the bar, after the game.

This hotel was very convenient for yet another rugby game. We met my parents at the hotel and had a lovely early meal before the match. Melrose is a lovely borders town, the wee shops are great for a browse and a bargain.

The noise of the kitchen extractor fan, but true to their word it was 'silenced' at 9pm.

Room was quite small and had no view and the air freshner smelt awful. Noisy with window open due to a local pub having a disco but this did stop about 1.00am. If anyone was moving about upstairs this was also noisy.

The service was fantastic, the food was lovely and the bar had a very nice, relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. The room was well kept, clean and very enjoyable to stay in.

When we booked on the website, the price for a family room per night was given as £85 but on arrival we were told that this was incorrect and that the price was actually £125. The manager said that this was a fairly regular problem and that Booking.com were at fault. We had a few awkward moments but the manager finally agreed that, as a compromise, we should pay £90. This was a difficult beginning to our night's stay but, other than that, we had a very pleasant stay.

Rooms were very clean and comfortable - very large bathroom - wi-fi available FOC - breakfast was very nice - all staff were most helpful - will definitely stay there again
