Friendly staff, only stayed one night but did us breakfast early as we had a train to catch into York. Great base for travelling to York only 10 min train drive.
Very nice host ,breakfast good .
Room good but a bit small, bathroom good but shower needs attention.
Lovely host and good clean rooms. Beautiful house and great breakfast
A little expensive given it is out of town so little options for eating as we were there during Xmas period
Nice village location, quiet.
Our bedroom was very small, the bathroom was very cold and there are no car parking facilities, just off street.
Great hostess Wonderful full English breakfasts (locally sourced) Great (rail) access to York Wonderful back roads thru' beautiful countryside
Bathroom a bit chilly (but it was wintry weather outside)
Welcoming host; excellent breakfast, served at an earlier time than usual for my convenience.
Very cold room; Arctic temperatures in the tiny shower closet. Shower ran blistering hot then icy cold without warning, though it eventually maintained an even temperature. I guess it's winter! Maybe host could have pre-heated the room in expectation of my arrival.
It was a very pleasant stay with excellent facilities. Breakfast was wonderful as was the vegetarian option for my wife. Thank you for your hospitality.
We hadn't stayed longer, but will return.
very friendly welcome by Jackie and good breakfast to start the day. excellent location for my need
Good location for getting to york by train
The rooms were very good, clean and comfortable The breakfast was large and well cooked
The stairs up to the bedrooms And it wasn't a working farm and hadn't been for many years
The rooms were excellent as were the breakfasts and Jackie the owner was very friendly.
It was like home from home, comfortable and quiet. Great fir trains too!
Jacqui was very friendly and helpful. Bedroom was large with a relatively small on-suite. Breakfasts were great and the steam-train themed dining room was a nice addition. Location would be a bit difficult without your own transport and meals were a bit hard to find late on a Sunday but it was a nice retreat from the busier towns of Leeds and York nearby.
Possibly a bit further from York than we expected but there was nothing about the accommodation or service that we could fault.
proprietor was very welcoming. Excellent pub 4 ins walk down road for very good food. B&B breakfast freshly cooked & all we could ask for.
no complaints at all
The quiet made sleep easy
Very warm and friendly welcome. The family room was spotlessly clean. A good hot drink selection and nice biscuit selection in the room. The ensuite toilet/shower room was also spotless. The breakfast was lovely with a selection of cereals, fruit, fully cooked and followed by toast. The property is less than a 5 minute walk to the train station. We don't normally go for guest houses but this was so nice and welcoming we wouldn't have any hesitation in returning - especially if our son ends up at York University!!
I didn't find any hair drier in the family room but this is a very minor point.
Jackie the owner was very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was of a high standard. We really enjoyed our stay and we will be going back when we visit the area again
Rural location close to station. Good breakfasts in clean and charming guest house.
Check in times did not fit in with our plans but owner was very generous and brought keys to us. She did everything possible to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
The food was brilliant
Excellent breakfast, warm welcome. Good proximity to York and Towton Battlefield site. Railway station very close with commuter service to York. Variety of local pubs for evening meals.
Bedroom slightly small but en suite was roomy and excellent.
on road parking. cramped shower room
Comfortable beds, spotless rooms and generous provisions of drinks and snacks in each room.
Small ensuite but understandable in a cottage environment.
We were allowed to bring our puppy, he slept in his crate in our room! Jackie prepared an early breakfast for us at 7:15
