Clean and fresh with the little touches
They didn't have a toilet brush for those embrassing toilet moments
Decor dated . Paintings cheap looking.
Central location near rail station. With off-street car park adjacent. Kitchen open late - handy when arriving very late!
Old-style hotel with sign of wear and tear however it was clean.
Lovely old fashioned hotel with lots of character in a great location with plenty car parking. Close to bus and train station. Very comfortable and quiet. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.
Room good value for the money but breakfast a bit expensive. and service poor.
The service was poor and it was not the fault of staff there just was not enough of them. There was no atmosphere in the hotel
A hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms
Proximity to station. Good breakfast
Your charges taking advantage of the SNP Convention. Does Perth want it to come back ? You never, ever tuck in a duvet!
Rooms were sirely in need of refurbishment carpets soiled windows drafty and tiles in bathroom in need of regrouting payed far too much fir this as it was a late booking !
Good value and great location as we came by train! Staff friendly.
I had to cross the room several times to make toast to have with my cooked breakfast.
The staff really was amazing, friendly and helpful and the exterior is really breathtaking however the interior needs some help. Im guessing this is privately owned, so the owner is ok with what he brings in from this place and has no vision for the place... but with just some TLC this place can really be amazing and bring in a lot more customers. It's sad to see this beautiful structure in the state that it's in. It's location is great if you are from out of town, 45 min from Edinburgh and Glasgow and a good 1.5 hour from Balmoral and the highlands... it's just sad that's it's been neglected. I'd love to see this place restored to what it once was... the one that Queen Victoria loved visiting so much as per the location's history. I hope on my next visit there'll be some improvements. This would be a great Hotel/home improvement project for someone with vision... this place would even be a great place to have a wedding, anniversaries and parties of all sorts... but not in its current condition. Perks: Flat screen TV Free Parking(in the BACK of the hotel not front) Location truly is great restaurants and shopping centers are walking distance. Bar downstairs and food is ok If you stay here go to this near by restaurant called SANTE ... amazing amazing food!!! The best sea bass I have ever had, great selection of wine, and dessert and attention was great. It's near a cathedral in the shopping area. Staff was very helpful
We stayed on the 3rd FL, room 104, the wall paper was worn and ripped in certain areas throughout the hotel, their were lots stains on our walls. Our heater in our room did not work so we had to go downstairs to ask for a portable heater, since the rooms don't have phones. If you live in the UK this won't be a problem as you can use your cell phone/Mobile, but if you are from out of the country and can not use your cell phone, pray you don't have an emergency bc you'll have to go down to use the phone at the front desk. They seemed to be understaffed as well... the lady that checked us in was also manning the bar and serving food... so we had to wait for a bit, we weren't upset by this as we could see she needed help but it didn't go unnoticed. Again this place is neglected, although not dirty you can see that this place deserves a major makeover and upgrade! Not fair to this historic location to keep it as it is. I even think the Staff feels bad for the conditions it's in. Didn't expect a 5 star hotel as I spent most of my time out and about exploring the country but there was a day of rest where I stayed there and as I observed the hotel more it was really sad how the owner/management company has neglected it. I wonder what Queen Victoria would say of her beloved hotel if she were to see it in it's present state. With all this said it really isn't a bad place to stay at all... it's just you wish more for this beautiful historical structure.
Staff and food
Lack of adequate storage for clothes in room , ageing decor, poor state of repair of shower in room. Flaking paint on windows.
Next to station, handy for taxis.
Over priced for what it is. The lift stopped a good 2 feet below the floor and I had to climb up. Windows don't open, room stuffy.
We liked the character of the hotel such a contrast to the new uninspiring hotels around. Staff our friendly and the location was good.
Maintenance could be better monitored.
Staff were nice ,breakfast was good .
Very uncomfortable bed
I had a lovely 4 poster bed and a bath with a Jacuzzi
I thought when I'd booked that breakfast was included
Located right at the station, and very near the place I was visiting (the Dewar Centre)
I was slow to notice the toaster at breakfast. My fault, it was behind me.
.. really only came in contact with the morning staff who were all very pleasant & helpful .. rooms clean apart from the cobwebs on the attic ceiling
..No mention at time of booking that we were booking 'budget' rooms - (that came as surprise when I criticized the housekeeping service) although price wasn't budget - no clean towels to replace used ones - no telephone - very tired attic rooms
Close to the train station is good. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bar was decent.
Wi-fi, one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel, did not work at all! The staff expressed concern--but were unable to make it work. Very frustrating! Also, the breakfast was priced too high. I chose to eat else-where.
The staf f were great! Friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble to make the stay enjoyable. Restaurant food above average and the facilities in the rooms good, and the location was perfect, particularly on bonfire night! Car parking good.
Decor needs updating and is a little tired.
The bar and restaurant very good. Good meal. Staff very nice and welcoming.
The room (102) window rattled with the wind. Noisy overnight. Bathroom small.
parking, breakfast staff
small room size shower over bath stayed at this hotel before with superior room a lot better room. won't book budget room again big dissapointment
I liked having a comfortable bed and a chair and a bit of room in bathroom. Enjoyed our meal on first night, staff very friendly would stay again.
We didn't like room on top floor, the bed to us was not comfy, the window rattled in the secondary glazing, no drawers for clothes & no chair only small stool. Bathroom was very small but did the job.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The bed was so comfy too.
I thought the price could have been lower based on the standard of room and the fact it was booked on the day. The shower was not of high quality and I do like the option of having a bath.
Location - quite close to town centre. Great if you need a train. Breakfast very good and slept well.
Room was very basic and old fashioned. Clean but nothing special.
Room noisy and unclean
