The Station Hotel  

Het personeel was vriendelijk, de kamers netjes en schoon. De prijs was gunstig.

Het ontbijt was inclusief maar erg beperkt en basic.

Slept well and enjoyed the space in the large room. Nice breakfast available from very early on in the day. I'm used to missing out when I have an early start so that was a pleasant surprise.

I always managed to have a shower in the morning but it was not very powerful and I thought it was going to give out any minute. It never did but the worry was always with me when I had a headfull of shampoo.

Was not my first preference but only room available on booking at short notice. Could only get a family room so took my son on a business trip so he could also visit student friends in the area. The rooms are a bit 'tired' and parking is convenient and free so that is a bonus. I never used the dining room but I was told by another guest that food is good. The staff are 'no hassle', friendly and helpful. My family room was good value at £125 room only so would be ideal for a couple with 2 or 3 children. Very convenient for a city visit and beyond as rail and bus links are close by. Altogether 7 out of 10.

Although bar and dining area have been refreshed the hotel could do with a major refurb. The entrance and doors need sorting as it resembles what might be the entrance to a hostel or halfway house.

I liked its location and its friendly staff

1. Although the guide in the room referred to a selection of malt whiskies the bar did not have a single one - it only had Grouse which is a blend. Surely malts is one of the resons people go to Scotland. 2. I had a problem with the washbasin in my room. The plug was stuck. I told reception and they prompptly sent someone to remove the plug - but not to repair it. Shaving the next morning was a major challenge. I do not want much from a hotel but basic washing facilities comes high on my list.

Location

I travelled with work colleagues and unfortunately seemed to draw the short straw on the rooms. We booked the last 3 rooms in the Hotel which also seemed to be the last 3 rooms in a 30 mile radius of the City centre! (I now know why) After complaining about my room I was told nothing could be done as the hotel was fully booked, I would have to speak to the reservations team in the morning. As I was leaving for work at 530 in the morning and not due to return until around 1030 pm this was not an option. The Hotel looks to be split into 2 parts, old and older despite the Reception and Bar area appearing very modern. I was greeted by the pungent odour of stale smoke on entering my room. Although spacious and offering 2 double beds, a fridge and modern tv the décor left a lot to be desired. There were several strange stains all over the carpet and the window did not appear to have been cleaned since the Hotel was opened!! In addition to this the Bathroom was in a state of ill-repair with holes around the doorways, tiles and window frames.

The Hotel is victorian and therefore the main staircase very impressive. My room had a typical victorian high ceiling and high windows with long draps. Ground floor has obviously been revamped and modernised. Free WiFi was good

Traffic noise outside

Great location.

I felt the room was way overpriced for a single room only.. Breakfast was over priced as well.

The place was noisey and full of party goers. It was not very welcoming. And I would not stay again!

The noise, Party people. And the staff were only interested in them so it was very uncomfortable.

The hotel was very close to my place of work

Although I had the family room did not think that it was good value for money, the fan did not work in the bathroom and the shower leaked all over the floor and the lighting within the room was poor. The traffic noise was also quite load at times, apart from that sleeped quite well. Other parties that we staying in the hotel left empty drink kartons at the top of the stairs floor 2 and there were chips all over the floor one morning and some people with kids were very noisey.

As mentioned above, this hotel has a graet location in the heart of town. The size of the room was fairly good with quiet environment throughout.

One of the things that I didn't like was the bed quality. I felt that it is More solid than expected. I beleive it has been used for years. I would therefore change the beds constantly. A part of this matter, things were absolutely fine :)

very convenient location and the room/bathroom were clean and uncluttered.

reception staff were not very polite or friendly and the room was stiffling hot with no way to turn the radiator down so had to leave the windows open and put up with the noise from the main road below.

It was alright actually.
