A stylish bed and breakfast in mainland Scotland’s most northerly town, Bed and Breakfast at 4 in Thurso enjoys a town centre location just 5 minutes’ drive from the ferry to Orkney.
Score from 140 reviews Superb
This small, family-run hotel has free Wi-Fi and free parking. It is in the centre of Castletown, close to Thurso and Wick and only minutes from the Castle of Mey.
Score from 122 reviews Very good
The Park Hotel - Where the atmosphere & surroundings are as welcoming as the food. Why not go all the way! To Caithness, the land beyond the Highlands and enjoy the hospitality at the Park Hotel.

Quiet room in the Coach House. Good food breakfast and evening.
we had a appartmentment at the back of the hotel. It was first class...The staff were polite and very helpful
we had no complaints, liked everything
service, meals, friendly staff
wi fi in room bit iffy
Friendliness of staff in restaurant and bar Bar food is good
TV is too small from the bed (at least for my eyes)
Everything , especially having own door for easy access for taking dog out. Know Thurso well as lived here and revisit often. Would definitely stay here again.
Location very convenient Friendly kind staff Useful suggestions from proprietor, e.g. he suggested we took a taxi to Cups Tearoom at Scrabster instead of catching the bus as it would be cheaper - he even called a taxi for us! Nice evening meal Good breakfast All facilities needed for a comfortable stay - thank you.
Son's room had a close up view of a wall - but that is the nature of the location and the fact that it is an old traditional building.
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Internet connection not great.
We were given a family room on ground floor, near exit which was great when you have a dog with you. Friendly staff, clean comfy room. We bit dated but that does not bother us at all.
Staff friendly. The central heating in room was excellent and there was always hot water. A comfortable sleep
Breakfast was obviously microwaved although the fried egg was cooked to order. I would not have liked to pay £11 for the breakfast.
Comfort of bed Friendliness of staff Proximity to railway station
Location was great, staff very friendly, breakfast was great!
The staff was very friendly. The restaurant, while a bit steep, had excellent food. I recommend the Cullen skink, it was amazing. The room we had was quite ample for the 2 of us, and was quite clean, though rather dated in decor. Overall, really nice place in the middle of Thurso.
Room too hot and unable to turn radiator down. Only non meat item on breakfast menu is kippers - and they did not have any. Partner ordered porridge but it never arrived!
most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful, breakfast was very nice too
Nearness to Railway Station
Coach trips that take the place over
Handy for the railway station, as the name suggests. Comfortable room breakfast cooked to order.
Storage of bikes inside studio bedroom (number 27). Excellent breakfast - lots of fruit and cereal before the cooked breakfast. Early breakfast for catching trains. Ensuite with bath and shower
Good central location. Room in the annex, so away from hotel and very quiet. Good bathroom.
The girl serving breakfast was rude and did not stop complaining. Breakfast expensive and without much choice. Man at reception on checking out thought we were arriving and could not find us on his list of customers.
After a 12 hour rail journey the hotel was only a short, easy walk from the station. The staff were friendly, the room and bed were comfortable, and I was lucky enough to be in a room set back from the road so it was quiet. The breakfast was delicious and a good size ☺
The room could have been a little cleaner - there was evidence of previous hot drinks having been splashed on the wall near the kettle. However this was the only fault I found with my stay!
Older small hotel in very good condition, well located. Just there a night on our way to Orkney.
early breakfast, fitting in with Orkney Ferry Times.
This is a hotel in the business of providing accommodation to travellers and this is done efficiently but it lacks the friendly touch.
the hotel, the staff, the food, the accommodation
cant fault anything
Studio room ideal for dog owners, spacious and well equipped. Access straight from the car park.
Breakfasts were poor, pre cooked food dried out before it got to the table. Didn't risk an evening meal as a result!
Owner on reception was very welcoming, as was lady who booked us a taxi to go to Scrabster. Chalet room very comfortable, well-equipped room and bathroom.
Young staff at breakfast were a bit inexperienced. Breakfast only until 9 a.m. (although info in room said 9.30 a.m.) - a bit early for people on holiday!
