The hotel is still undergoing some refurbishment to their bedrooms but this did not interfere with my stay. They were very relaxed and accommodating about my dog who was welcome everywhere except the dining room. The room I had still needed modernising but I think this was reflected in the price. Service was generally good and very friendly from all the paid staff but I was disappointed not to be even asked by the owner, when I was checking out, if I had enjoyed my stay. Dinner in the restaurant was of a very high calibre, using local produce where possible, and fairly innovative. Some aspects of presentation were a little basic, e.g. no shell cracker for my langoustines and no bowl for the shells but this did not detract from the excellent flavour. Would I return to this hotel? Given the constructive criticism here being acted upon I wouldn't hesitate. The location was excellent for exploring the whole of the Moray coast. The bar was very basic and not conducive to guests relaxing in it. Better use could also be made of the lounge for sitting having a drink or a coffee.

The welcome given was genuine and very friendly. The staff throughout our stay were welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended. The decor in the dining room could be doing with refreshing. Compared to the fresh and bright decor of the bedroom the dining area seemed to belong to a past era. Nothing a good architect or designer could put right.

The Station Hotel Portsoy is a very friendly, family run, small hotel. We stayed in their suite, which consisted of was two very nicely appointed bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) with a small hallway area between and a bathroom (which had a shower, no bath). I would definitely recommend this room to family groups as its a similar cost to a regular room but having two bedrooms gives a lot more flexibility. As we have 3 small children we put the two oldest in the twin bedroom and had the baby with us (the hotel helpfully provided a cot, saving us valuable boot space in the car). The hotel were very flexible about our breakfast time, and service in the restaurant was excellent. Facilities outside the hotel are quite limited, but its not far to the larger towns like Buckie, Banff and Macduff (which has a great aquarium for kids). Wifi was provided in the reception area but in the rooms would be much more helpful, perhaps that can be considered?

The Station hotel represented excellent value for money - we stayed in the two bedroomed suite , and with two children it was wonderful to get a really good nights sleep in our own room , and the children in their room .... beds very comfortable and an excellent breakfast the next morning. We also used the hotel restaurant which was extremely good food. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to people, especially those with a family.

A superb stay. From the minute I arrived the staff were the friendliest I have met for years. Arriving late the kitchen was closed but the Chef made superb sandwiches. Bar great fun and service excellent. Food was superb! All in all a very enjoyable two day stay on business. CAnt think of anything to dislike about the hotel.
