Room was comfortable, quiet etc.. Plenty of parking.
Room maintenance poor. Light bulbs not working, had to change room - weren't they checked? Peeling paint. Sticky marks on furniture. Unknown marks on bed throw. Dinner was buffet style, plentiful but very chewy steak - not impressed.
Comfortable. Staff were good. Meals were good.
No WiFi or 3G in some rooms. Some rooms are a long walk from reception. No fridge in rooms.
Quiet room, good facilities
Wifi connection in room was bad
Excellent facilities although I did not use them had a good look around golfers paradise. Hotel staff and bar area excellent dinning area good nice all round accomadation
Quality of food, although travelling on my own, Unusual, had I been with my wife I would of complained buffet food, soup and salad good variety. Hot food disgusting I had their version of Spaggeti Bolanaise one mouthful was all i could stomach dessert was a mixture of overloaded spray cream sponges and silly small glasses of fruit no home made apple pie or crumble. I paid for meal and went to bed hungry. After staying at the De Vere Belfry where the food was brilliant. This hot food was probably the worst hot food I have eaten in years
A good rate plus wifi and breakfast!
The price was good, cheap, the room was a good size.
Car park outside of the hotel was reserved for members of A club. The room wasn't clean properly, there was holes in the towels. No phone reception, poor tv reception on the 4 channels we only could get.
Love this hotel, been here many, many times... and I'm not a golfer!
Our room overlooked a grassy area, that doubled as a car park for the housekeeping staff. Their storage area was next to our room, which made it quite noisy, especially first thing... A radio was playing loudly and staff very vocal.
Gym, staff and quiet location
Some of the rooms are miles from reception so if you don't like to walk then let them know.
Free coffee machines and biscuit packs, leisure club, facilities in room, value for money...
* Incredibly hard bed * Ambivalent staff ( asked if leisure club was still open on arrival at 9pm- reply 'don't know' with no effort to find out or give directions!) * No wifi in half the hotel- moved straight away to another room - despite being told earlier that hotel was full! * No lift - in a hotel with most floors off ground level! * Spread out site- both leisure club outside and parking well away from reception * No mobile reception in whole of hotel
The staff on the front desk were excellent, always very pleasant and helpful, as were all the staff we came across during our stay.
The car park is some distance from reception and unfortunately the floor in reception was being re-laid, and we had to negotiate two barriers with luggage and clothes for a wedding to get to our room. Our room was at basement level and probably next in line for refurbishment, and had very poor TV reception, but comfortable enough. This was our experience, but on a different day and a different room I am sure we would have had a more enjoyable stay.
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Refreshment facilities at reception were good. General areas of the hotel were clean and well sign posted to get around.
The cleanliness of our room (235) was not up to standard. The toilet had excrement on the underside of the seat, obviously this had not been cleaned thoroughly. The bathroom floor needed more attention, fluff on the floor under the wash basin - the grouting needs to be power cleaned and the mould on the tiles also needs looking at. The reception chairs need cleaning once in a while - very grubby.
Facilities ie coffee stations Room size Room facilties
Mattress was hard & springs could be felt. Ive stayed here numerous times & this is the 1st time I've had an 'old' mattress
Depth of bed, and wheelchair friendly
The big fire doors very difficult to get thru in a wheelchair, not staying..open so unable to carry hot drink to room. Unfair waking hubbie at 3.30am for hot drink,
The staff , the facilities and the hotel were great and for £29 we couldn't go wrong !
The sound the shower made when it was draining was terrible , blocked drains I think !
Plenty of parking available, spacious hotel, staff friendly, cheap night stay.
Cost of drinks, room far too dark, all black marble in the bathroom, lighting all wrong (too dark) as couldn't see in the mirror properly, one night is plenty for a business trip.
Receptionist very helpful and the check in process was smooth and speedy
Bar service very slow. Tables in bar dirty and left full of empty glasses. Food ok, but served on a wooden board which didn't look very pleasant. Glass offered with bottle of drink was dirty and had lipstick marks all round the rim.
I needed somewhere to stay and got a room for a fraction of what it would normally cost. Facilities looked great although I didn't have enough time to enjoy them.
It could have been cleaner. There were coffee stains up one wall.
If my mother had been able-bodied then the hotel would have been ok. Rooms were spacious and clean.
The fact that we had asked before -hand for rooms with disabled access and the rooms were on the first floor - accessible by a considerable walk to the lift and then another considerable walk. Then to find that the bathroom was totally inadequate - a rather high sided bath with a shower over!!!!A member of staff admitted that my request was on their system and that it had been overlooked he offered us single rooms on the ground floor. This was also unsuitable as my mother does not like being on her own overnight - she has considerable hearing loss and is quite unstable if she has to get up during the night. The young man offered that we could have one of the single rooms to enable my mother to have showers. This seemed a reasonable compromise but when we went to see the single room not only was it a considerable walk again but it was a bath again, albeit with lower sides - totally unsuitable for my mother!! She resolved to manage with 'top and tailing' for the weekend. But!!!!! then when I tried to have a shower in our original room I had to climb into the bath before being able to turn on the taps - sorry, trying to turn on the taps, as the hot water tap would not turn on. This was reported the next morning but was still not repaired when we left on Monday morning.
Got a late deal, needed a few hours lip driving from Exeter to Edinburgh. Not too far off M1, but you need your Sat nav. Nice n remote, quiet and cosy.
The gym, breakfast, certain rooms in the party were fabulous, bar, staff and surroundings.
The mess up with the booking which was solved - in a fashion... My first room was dirty, smelly and dark. The bathroom sink was cracked and the tiles dirty. Someone smoking nearby which caused my room and corridor to smell. Staff were 'powerless' to do anything about it. Nearly being charged twice for a room until we questioned it.
The Staff and their help to make our reunion a sucess
The rain, other than that we had a great tine
location was excellent and Room was very clean
Reception and Bar staff were really not that efficient Bar was pricey and service very slow outside seating was limited on a lovely summer evening and had a marathon walk from the car park, shower really poor
Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice reception with internet cafe and free tea and coffee. Good bar and not too expensive. Nice grounds and plenty of parking.
Food - I ordered a burger and it was nicely presented but the fries and onion rings were very, very greasy. I did not eat at the hotel the second night. Swimming pool was very small - do not believe the photo! Poor mobile reception - I could only get a signal in reception
Very good value for money. Comfortable bed. Pleasant staff. Would specifically like to mention lady who cleaned our bedroom and thank her for her honesty as I left my Kindle behind when I left and she very kindly handed it in. - I have since collected it. (Room 144). A big + point for your hotel.!
Bar menu was a bit limited although what we had was nice. The cooked breakfast was only warm and so not very appetising. Cereals were nice tho!
We liked the fact that all our guests for wedding could stay the night at the same hotel following our daughters wedding at dodford manor. There were plenty of rooms available
I got some quite bad feedback from our guests booking rooms telling us that some staff were quite rude on the phone. My sister and family booked a family room and had prebooked an early check in due to her children suffering car sickness and would enable her to get them changed at the hotel before wedding. The room was not ready when she arrived despite checking three times before arrival. They were then allocated a different room which was much smaller and found the staff unhelpful.
