The hotel was warm and friendly and had everything that we needed. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the atmosphere was pleasant and easy going. Although we only stopped for 1 night, the Sunday evening carvery was superb with plenty of choice, plus it was good value for money as it was a 3 course meal. We were quite astounded at the choice and variety of food we were offered for breakfast and very pleased with the cooked breakfast as with all the food there it was superbly cooked. If we are in the area again we will certainly use the Castletown Hotel again. The only problems we had were very minor, such as some of the small lamps in the bedroom weren't working. The en suite shower had very little water pressure and I couldn't get any hot water through, although I was informed later that it needed to be run for quite some time to get hot water.

Made to feel very welcome when I arrived and shown to my room. Worked In the bar lounge area completing my days paperwork with no fuss, even when the bar closed. Evening meal was very good value for money. Plenty on the plate as well. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Good breakfast and checkout in the morning was fast. No problem. Everything went well.

The Castletown hotel was good value and adequate for our 1 night stay during our tour of Scotland. The location although not very exciting allowed a comfortable and clean stop over. Breakfast was excellent although the bar staff in the evening didnt have any knowledge or advice for the evening menu

I chose the Hotel because of the price and close location to John o Groats. Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are good size, clean and very good for the price, in fact better than I was expecting. The facilities are good and the breakfast was tasty with good variety. All in all very good value. The only thing I can think of is my friend who had a 19 inch tv on a shelf and I had a 32 inch tv. Maybe the shelf could be taken down and a larger tv put on a wall bracket.

Fine hotel. Warm and cozy rooms. Very clear. The magnificent personnel. I think, very small price for so good conditions. Wi-fi works only in foyer and a bar. Also often there are faults in work of a cellular network.

We have stopped at the Hotel before and liked it the first time so when we traveld up to the Orkneys this time we stopped again at the castletown hotel. As it is in the ideal posistion to get on to the Scrabster./ Gill bays Ferry portsThe staff are exelent and the food is wholesome and well prepaired. So I would not hasitate to stop at the Castletown hotel again. So I would score this hotel 9 out of 10 the good all round service that the hotel and staff provide

We found the staff to be cheerful and very helpful - they are trying very hard and succeeding well in the important things - despite the fact that they are able only to be gradually improve the hotel's facilities.Strongly recommended.

The bed was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was amazing!! The room had an unpleasant smell when we arrived. The weather was terrible and as a result the window in our room leaked, unfortunately all over one of our bags. The staff were very unsympathetic and there was no apology offered, which left us with negative feelings towards the hotel, despite everything else being good.

We Booked this hotel because it had free Wifi throughout the hotel on the web site, and was in a convenient location, however when we checked in we were told that our room did not have internet access, so I told them of my dissapointment and they promptly moved us to another room which did have, very efficient service, for which I thanked them, the food in the hotel was excellent and as a stopever hotel or to explore the region would recomend it.

Great little family run hotel with friendly helpful staff. Excellent food is served in the lounge at reasonable prices. Fine traditional cooked breakfast with good selection of healthier options, cereals, fruits and yogurts. Small Public bar is fine for a beer and chat with the locals. the room I had was on the small side and in need of a bit of a makeover. Its only opening window was at a hight that made it dificult to reach. The shower room extraction fan was very noisy and remained on for about 10 mins after switching off. However the room was clean and serviced to a high standard and I slept well in a very comfortable bed.
