The goose in the church opposite was a bit noisy in the morning! The chair in the room was a bit hard and heavy.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable bed, spacious bathroom.
Very small room taken up mainly by tge bed and furniture and fittings could do with painting. More Travel Lodge look than private small hotel! Surprisingly the road was quite noisy with traffic including lorries, in the night. Outlook was a small car park area with rubble and equipment, workman arrived in the morning.Bathroom small internal add-on, clean but uninspiring Toiletries nice. But this didn't make it worth the charge, the site of room really let it down and if there had been two if us staying we would have been falling over each other!
Staff welcoming, room clean, bed comfortable.
lovely clean hotel lovely room comfortable bed, owners very nice made to feel very welcome and always on hand if help was needed. would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again
Greeted by owner on arrival, wonderful comfortable hotel. Great location. Lovely rooms. Brilliant breakfast.
Very friendly and helpful staff, wonderful clean room. Would definitely stay again
Nothing to complain about
Staff brilliant, made us very welcome, bed very comfortable, didn't spend to much time in hotel as well we're only staying 2days,breakfast and bit pricey at £10 per person but was good, definitely go back to that hotel
Don't wander too far down Walmgate, some of the locals don't like tourists!
Loved the location, opposite a beautiful old church, and right on the edge of the old town - lots of cool shops and cafes. The guys who run it are super friendly and thoughtful. Nice relaxed vibe.
Very friendly staffs, very warm room, comfortable bed
We arrived very stressed after a long delay and the owners were kindness itself. They went out of their way to ensure we were safely parked and that level of kindness continued throughout our stay. The room was lovely and the ensuite had a great shower as well as a bath. Breakfast was delightful with beautiful home made compotes and locally sourced items for cooked breakfast. Fabulous!
Absolutely nothing to fault, one of the best guest houses I've stayed in.
Continous Building work in nearby streets
Near to city centre. good car parking on site. Furnishings & Painting well selected for the property. Staff members very friendly & efficient
Welcoming helpful attitude of staff.
Breakfast not included in price Room at front subject to some traffic noise
Location Very friendly and helpful owners Clean and comfortable
The room was not huge by any means but it was comfortable and done so well and the bathroom was so great that it just wasn't an issue at all.
The owners were sisters and went above and beyond with any query we had - they were so accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The bathroom was big and beautiful. Definitely a woman's touch with a real eye for detail in the rooms. Only recently renovated and they have done an absolutely great job with quality fittings and products used throughout. Breakfasts were fantastic with freshly cooked made to order meals. Would certainly stay there again.
There was nothing to dislike.
The location was ideal for our purpose which was mainly a visit to the Barbican.Overall a pleasant experience.t
Seems to be on a route for York's noisy revellers going home - but that's clearly not the hotel's fault!
This is a family owned business by people who really care - so different to the usual 'corporate' experience.
The parking area was small and had very tight spaces for manoeuvring. The room was not double glazed so there was traffic noise, but this decreased after 10pm.
The hosts were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They resolved an issue with our room very quickly and efficiently. Our ground floor room was large and comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of room. The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the city and all it's attractions and is also close to shopping and restaurants.
Please consider AMEX card.
I stayed in this Hotel for 15 days in order to look for my plase to live. In this time, I was pleased to many kind helping of staffs, such as laundries maps and checking business hours, extendinging stay and some comments. Many thanks for this.
The ONLY criticism I could think of was that I felt the exterior of the hotel could be made more welcoming. ie plants, shrubbery etc.
Excellent stay! The owners were very polite, our room was spotless, breakfast was very good and more than adequate. Would definitely stay there again. Peter & Sharon
Good location for city centre, great bed, nice comfortable room, good breakfast in lovely light courtyard style room, very welcoming friendly & smiley hosts!
breakfast cereal, poor choice.
very close to city centre and all amenities. friendly staff. clean and comfortable.
Can't think of anything we didn't like
Everything. Nothing was too much trouble for Sophie & Marie. Travelled with my daughter (23) It was noticed we were drinking wine out of coffee mugs & following that there were always wine glasses & wine cooler in room. Lovely location. Can't praise it enough, although I think we should keep it a secret! Lovely breakfast.
Noisy radiator on arrival but fixed as soon as reported. Room compact but cosy.
Well equipped, cosy and clean room (coffee maker and small touches like hand made soap) . Excellent light and airy breakfast room and choice and quality of food offered. Attentive (but not intrusive) staff, genuinely eager to please. Excellent central position very close to good selection of restaurants and bars
