the room was large and close to the city, and it was a late booking for me. I usually stay in York more than 10 times in any given year,

There was no staff available to contact at all through my stay for the two days...very disapointing. I answered the front door to people who thought I was working there to request a room it was like the marie celest the couple went away..

Staff very helpful . good english breakfast .would stay again

The room was warm and comfortable. Staff were friendly and the cooked breakfast was delicious.

The bathroom could do with updating

The St Denys' location is fantastic-just ten minutes' walk to York Minster and five to the Shambles (medieval shopping street). I stayed for two nights with my girlfriend and found the double room ageing but fine for the stay and welcoming in design. We didn't take the breakfast option (£5 each extra per day) and so can't provide any details on that. The staff were very kind and helpful, showing us how to get to all the sights on the map. As we were leaving in the evening on the day of check- out, we asked to leave our bags with reception for the afternoon and the receptionist kindly obliged. Overall, a good stay if you're looking for a simple, no-frills base with a top location.

When we arrived, there were no towels in the room. Obviously an oversight, an the staff were quick to remedy that.

my daughter booked this as a suprise for me and the wife, my brother and his wife - the hotel was quite poor for the money and when we came home we emailed and complained - after speaking to the management it was agreed that a refund of £150.00 out of the £400.00 paid would be refunded - we are still waiting for the refund after 3 weeks and now find after an email my daughter recieved that the hotel is now in receivership - she was asked to re direct her emails, which she did and as yet has still not recieved a response which we find absolutely dreadful. therefore feel really disappointed with the management of the hotel and also the chap who spoke to me on the phone assuring us of a refund

I will will not ever stay at this hotel again. On arrival when shown to our rooms there was a strong smell of drugs in the corridors. The hotel was filthy and was told the hotel was closing down in the next day or so. I would like a full refund. This hotel was very run down and the staff were not helpful at all

The welcome by the receptionist was excellent. Other staff helpful with directions too. Spacious room-brilliant value for money.

We paid £99 for a very basic 2up 2 down poky house, not a hotel as advertised, it was not at all as per the picture, I would never recomend this place and found it a total rip off for my money :(

Hotel staff friendly, Breakfast cooked whilst you wait, so nice & hot.

Shower in room not working,

The young gentlemen on reception when we arrived was very welcoming and helpful. And the following morning we had a fab breakfast! In fact all the staff were very polite and got the feeling they would do anything to please.
