“ The staff were friendly, the rooms were warm, the bathroom made sense and was spacious, the breakfast allowed a huge choice and the parking was free. It is in town so nothing is far so I would recommend it to anyone and should I be in York again this is where I will stay.. ”

Opposite the 15th-century Church of St Denys and less than 5 minutes’ walk from York city centre is the St Denys hotel. A full English breakfast is served in the spacious dining area which features a large glass ceiling and wooden floors. It was very convienient for the centre of York staff were very friendly and the room very clean and breakfast good Although the room was very clean smelt a little damp and could do with a heated towel rail in bathroom

Quiet, small, friendly and in centre of York. Good breakfast. I visited York with a friend to see my daughter and St. Denys allowed her and her friend to join us for breakfast which was lovely. Nothing it was perfect for our needs

The management were very pleasant and helpful. The room was spotless and airy. Breakfast was very good. Will definitely stay there again. Only one window opened in the room.

not too big...small and friendly..very clean and well presented...great location for city centre parking was a little limited...and the one way system ring road makes it difficult to find for the first timer

The bed in the room we were in was terribly lumpy, we could feel the springs in the mattress, shower enclosure pretty small.

The room was wonderful, clean and very very comfortable and spacious, the young lady on reception was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, and very nicely presented. The hotel was very well situated, and with free parking. Nothing to not like.

the staff where very helpfull. the breakfast filling the traffic noise went on all night. noisy plumbing that also lasted all night. the net curtains where realy dirty.

the location 2 min walk from the shops/bars. the staff were excellent,very helpful, they made sure we had everything we needed, the best of all was the breakfast,oh my god it was first class. overall the stay was fantastic and i will go again and recomend this to any one. this is not a negative comment,but some of the reviews commented on the rooms being shabby! well there not they were very clean and comfortable, could do with being updated! but hey they were good for me. recomend st denys to anyone x

As the bar is no longer available we took a bottle of champagne, and without asking, when we arrived back at the room after a day out, the champagne had been put on ice in a bucket with champagne flutes and serviettes! The service and friendly nature of the staff could not be improved upon in any hotel! Breakfast is great and how they manage it all for the price is a mystery. Bar is no longer available.

Ideally located just a short stroll into York centre. Great breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. Small but comfortable room, great value for money. Would stay again. Parking was a bit tight as hotel was full.

position of hotel.courteous helpful staff.free parking but only for 6 cars maximum.food was excellent. hotel was very tired looking and needs a makeover rapidly.was clean though.squeeky floorboards throughout upper floor/bedrooms.

The staff were really, really friendly and always on hand to help. The location is amazing given how close the city centre is. All in all excellent value! Some of the hotel looked a little tired (but still super clean) there was however some general maintainance going on when we were there (this did not interfere with our stay) but perhaps they were having a bit of a spruce up!
