we really loved the location, and it was fairly comfy. The front desk staff were excellent. we had some minor problems with it not being clean, and unfriendly and untrained staff in the dining room.

Location was great for what we had in mind. We stayed for 4 nights but the menu didn't change at all nor did anyone suggest that you also had specials. This is the first hotel I have stayed in that didn't provide bathrobes as standard.

V comfy bed, lovely building and friendly staff. Food in library very good and reasonably priced. Building site outside our room and work started at 0730 which woke us. Also back of tv remote missing and replaced with tape- little shabby for 4*. Also pool area a little tired looking - don't think windows had been cleaned in a long time. Disappointed by above as the good points were v good.

Location. Relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff. The history and character of the hotel. Room cleaned excellently and restocked. Pool area needs updating and a face lift. Food is a little to gourmet and pricey for my taste could be more wholesome and straight forward however if you like that style it is first class cooked and presented.

The fact that our booking was not booked thanks to booking.com we had to go to another more expensive hotel at the other side of the town as they were fully booked. This is the 2nd time this has happened but we at least got a room the last time.

The restaurant food, very good also the size of the portions was a little "French!" The room, comfortable and clean with wifi. The gymn, well equipped. The location, right in the middle of Stirling and easy to find. The parking, free and right next to the hotel. The manager, very good at putting things right. They serve great coffee. One of the reception staff was useless. The beds are too hard for me personally. The service in the restaurant could have been more attentive, we had to wait long periods for service. The cooked buffet breakfast was lukewarm and the fruit was under-ripe.

The location was great, it was a short walk to the castle and the shops. You can get a bus or taxi to the Wallace Monument. There are lots of restaurants, cafes and pubs nearby. Good choice for breakfast, did not try dinner. Had scrambled eggs for breakfast which were powdered I think, just didn't taste right. The room was a bit dusty in the corners, grouting in the bathroom discoloured but nothing too awful. The dinning room was somewhat dingy.
