Good sized room, clean and comfortable. Didn't dine in the hotel except for breakfast which provided an excellent selection of foods. Bar was expensive and choice very limited. Lovely building showing signs of wear and tear. There was work being carried out on the hotel involving most of the building being covered by scaffolding - would have been nice to know this when booking.

I liked the room (premium) and I thought the hotel had lots of character. Parking is a huge problem. If you can't find a space within the hotel grounds you're pretty much in trouble as there isn't anything nearby.

Location good. Good setting and architectuere on outside. Lots of character. Good breakfast. Reception display areas filled with dead midgies. Very noisy adjoining room. Although were moved when asked. Starting to show age. Stayed several times - last time 10 years ago. Not as good as previous visits.

The location, the building, the room, I also liked the pictures and the original banisters. We also enjoyed the breakfast. I liked the toiletries,I liked the carpet in the lobby and I liked the welcome from the reception. I didn t like the door at the foot of the stairs, I didn t like the scaffolding as I could nt see the building properly.

Great location for the castle and Stirling town breakfast was very good Wasnt made aware of the scaffolding around the hotel when booking inside of hotel needs a bit of refurbishment. Breakfast was good but the staff needed to be more pro active. Waited approx 5 mins for coffee and then had to open the kitchen door and remind the waiter. I think the staff need to be trained better didnt see much of a superviser.

Nice hotel, staff friendly. Hotel was booked mainly as it had a pool/sauna/jacuzzi and this did not disappoint. Well maintained. In the room cobwebs etc on curtains/pelmet - would have taken seconds to clean but made an otherwise spotless room look filthy.

The staff through out the hotel were very nice and helpful, from suggesting activities, to suggesting a nice wine to accompany your meal. The hotel beside the Barcelo is a building site and is not a pleasing view from your room, especially a premier room. This should be made clear on the website before people make thier booking.

Location. The standard of the room was very poor, service atrocious. We had adjoining rooms and could clearly hear the bodily functions of the guests next door. The room was poky, grubby and stuffy. When we decided to leave the staff were very unhelpful; making excuses along the lines of - what do you expect, we're fully booked - when we said the room situation re adjoining rooms was unacceptable. After half an hour explaining we weren't staying and therefore not paying we were eventually able to depart. Very poor experience - DON'T GO!

It is well positioned being next to the castle. The health club facilities were good, swim, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were all well maintained and very relaxing. We couldn't eat in the restaurant because it was fully booked. We had a premium room, for which we paid a premium price, but it had nothing to make it feel in any way special and parking was a real headache.

The perfect location, near the castle. I liked the ambience of the hotel, converted from a schoo. Renovations were going on which did not interfere with our comfort, but I would like to return when they are completed. The food was good.

The staff were very good especially the gentleman that oversees visitors as he was kind enough to take my wife and I up to the top of the observatory and show us Stirling from a height. The pool area and staff were excellent. The breakfast was very good also and the rooms were quiet and well presented. The television in the bar was on despite nobody watching it so we asked them to turn it off which they did obligingly. It could do with some soft music to make it more ambience led. Also the WIFI was not free and it should be.

I stayed at this hotel a number of times and believe the staff are excellent, the rooms are perfect and the breakfast is by far the best I have experienced in terms of quality and selection. My only complaint is the lack of free Wi-fi. Most hotels have this available free of charge throughout the hotel and it was somewhat disappointing to learn I could only get 30 mins free at certain locations or a charge will apply.

Liked the bar and restaurant nice old fashion feel/atmosphere. Food in restaurant good, staff nice Whilst I appreciate work is being done, I would like to think all that scaffolding will disappear as soon as possibile, not good for hotel image. Entrance door at lower level from street very grubby looking, needs cleaning and painting, not befitting a professional hotel.
