The 3-star St Ives Hotel is situated on the traffic free West Bay with magnificent views of the Firth Of Clyde. The hotel is only minutes from the center of town and offers the ideal waterfront setting for an affordable short break. Guests are assured of a warm and friendly welcome from Matt and Sandra in this beautiful cozy Victorian hotel. St. Ives has been in the same family since 1983 and guests return year after year to enjoy the service and hospitality the hotel provides. There is a varied menu that is changed daily, with local produce used for those special Scottish dishes. Vegetarian and alternate diets can be catered for. The hotel has a residential license for those guests who wish to have drinks with their meal or to relax in the comfortable lounge, which has beautiful views of the bay and garden. The tastefully decorated rooms have attached bathrooms or detached, but still private bathrooms. All rooms have TV, radio, direct line telephone, hairdryer and complimentary tea and coffee. The room was clean and tidy, the owners were very friendly and helpful The en suite was too small to be functional, especially as one guest was 6ft 31/2inches tall. A bit conservative with drinks :- 2 teabags, 2 coffee sachets 1 hot chocolate (presumably to be shared!!) was all that was provided.

The breakfast-not too big and wasn't greasy. The curtains in the bedroom were very thin-therefore woke up at about 5am. Shower room/toilet was miniscule. Decor was in good condition, but very 1980s.

Sandra very welcoming and nothing was a bother for her. The room was spotless and decoration was very fresh. It felt like a "home from home". It was an easy walk along the promenade to the shopping area. Dining room was pleasant and there was an extensive breakfast menu. Would certainly stay there again and would recommend it. Being picky the only downside was the parking arrangements. There is limited parking in front of the hotel.

I thought the owners were incredibly friendly. Sandra is welcoming and full of local knowledge about enteratinment in the town. She is a fabntastic advocate for the town as well as respresenting her own business well. Sandra and her husband are really accomplished hosts. The hotel is situated near Dunoon's centre which is convenient for the ferry. The hotel itself has panoramic views of the Clyde coast. The residents loubge on the second floor is a marvellous place for unwinding and enjoying the gorgeous scenery. I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting that bit more from their accomodation.

St Ives Hotel is an excellent first class hotel The hospitality and the welcome I received couldn't be faulted as it was brilliant. I was well looked after and the room I was in was very good. The views from the hotel were absoluely fabulous. The location of the hotel was perfect. It was very close to Dunoon centre and a short walk to my relative's house. This is not the first time I have visited this hotel and I plan to go again in the future.

Very friendly owner run hotel who was willing to spend time giving information and talking to guests in general every day subjects The mattress on our bed was a bit creaky of which we informed the owner of the hotel of this fact . I thought the cost of £62 per room was way over priced.

I chose this hotel as a convenient location to visit the Tall Ships 2011 in Greenock. It is a small hotel located very close to the ferry terminal in the centre of Dunoon and ideal for those travelling without a car. To reach it just continue along the coastal walkway for a few minutes turning left from the ferry. The owners are very friendly and knowledgable about the area, the hotel is very clean and comfortable and has great views across the water. Trips on the paddle steamer Waverley leave from the ferry terminal and you can buy tickets on board. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to go back next year

This small hotel is in a beautiful location on Victoria Parade just minutes walk from the ferry from Guorock and close to the town centre, ideal for those using public transport. Add to that the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, the quality of the cooked breakfast and the well equipped lounge with beautiful views across the water and this hotel is one I was delighted to find. I stayed in the single room with private facilities. The room was well planned and comfortable with a great view. The private bathroom with bath, shower, basin and toilet was down a few stairs and opened by key. The hotel provided a bathrobe.Would definitely use this hotel again.
