Room very clean and spotless -great value for money. Breakfast - one of the best if not the best hotel breakfasts we've had. Leisure facilities and business buildings bring the standard down

Excellent value for money and very helpful staff. Would definitely suit people looking for a quiet relaxing break. Not for those who like a busy night life.

Lovely buildings and grounds, great history, well appointed leisure centre, although well away from the hotel complex. Rooms were very small, Shower was impossible to select the right temparature. Extracture Fan noise was all night from somewhere close.

The building and surrounding gardens and countryside.. Staff friendly and efficient. Being stuck in an attic as a 'quality bedroom' and dining/drinking in a basement. The beautiful views from the Hall are kept for the attendees at courses and conferences.

Beautiful buildings and gardens and countryside. Swimming pool. Breakfast. Location. Fabulous place. Gorgeous public rooms. Amazing History. Holes in bed linen. Long wait at check in. Room not ready. Lack of signing in main building. 10.30 am too early for check out would prefer 11am.

Staff excellent, Although not always totally efficient in the dining room on a busy evening the more senior people handled our 'concerns' in an excellent manner. Reception staff superb. Period Public rooms and grounds first rate. Not a lot frankly. Really impressed.

Staff were attentive and helpful. Excellent location just off the A1. Food very good. Hall and setting is magnificent, worth a detour on its own. Bearing in mind that this is a NUT conference centre it satisfies the expectations of a main stream hotel very well indeed. Very little not to like. We stayed in the converted stable block where our room was compact but very adequate.

I liked the friendly, helpful staff in the hotel and swimming pool. Location was hard to beat as was the grandeur of the Hall. Did not like the bedding. Consisted of sheet and grubby heavy cover, which looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for some time. Would have liked a clean, fresh smelling duvet.

The house was fantastic and staff very helpful, the location was out of this world. The evening meal was lovely but we had the same menu for the two nights we stayed, set many portion were small but enough for us. Those eating on spec seemed to have some what bigger portions the rooms we had were not in the main house and of a demountable construction and for the price I felt poor, the leisure center and pool was tired and the general building outside and the poor drive way with many pot holes let it down. It could be an outstanding premises if they just attending to the above!
