The hotel looks lovely and the decor is really chairming. The room was small but nice and the bed was comfortable. The shower was good although not very powerful. Toiletries were limited eg no body lotion and just one small shower gel insufficient for two people. It was Sunday night and despite advertising the restaurant as opened until 2130 we were refused service at 2110 and directed to the bar instead. There we had a club sandwhich that took a very long time to arrive. We had a glass of champagne while waiting and it would have been nice to be served some small appetisers but were offered just some peanuts. What let the hotel down was sadly the incompetent service. There was nobody at reception when we arrived at 9 pm and had to go looking for someone to check us in. When the person did show up he was unfriendly and brisk to the point of rudeness. In the morning at breakfast the waiter reminded me of scenes from Faulty Towers. On balance nice hotel but appalling service.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. The Garden Lodge room was very clean although a bit modern. This is the first hotel I have stayed in where there is fresh coffee in the rooms - excellent Unfortunately the TV did not work and the hotel staff had to come to fix it.

Very attentive and good staff, I didnt like my original room and they immediately moved me into a suite. A good comfy bed and a good choice of drinks and room service. Tastefully decorated and I would certainly stay again.

I booked this hotel at short notice and can only say what a fantastic difference from the usual hotels I stay in on business - regardless that the other hotels charge similar amount for b&B. The setting is great - the building old and elegant, the decor very subtle and elegant yet modern, parking no problem. The customer service is amongst the best I have experienced anywhere - I cannot fault any member of staff I came into contact with - extremely helpful, unobtrusive, polite and effiicient. The room I had was small but perfectly formed - walk in shower - what a blessing after lots of over bath showers, dingy shower curtains and a trickle of water. The bed was possibly the most comfortable I have slept in other than at home. Having the bed turned down, the blinds lowered and classic fm left playing when I re-entered the room after dinner - was the icing on the cake! Nothing that I did not like- however the bar and restaurant are a little difficult to find on a first trip (tho a staff member walked me all the way to the bar/rest). And the re is no lift avail hence anyone with difficulty on the staiers - or indeed with a lot of luggage may feel the strain! However Ihave to say that I did get help with my bags as well - so not such an issue.

I would like to recommed the walk around the lake for anyone visiting this hotel. The staff in the restaurant should wear softer shoes and be less militant about the service at the tables. Otherwise very kind service.

Quiet and relaxed character hotel with mini-nature trail around a pond, with many species of birds. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff Because the main hotel itself was an old stately home, it has many small stair ways leading to the rooms. Kids love it, but may not be a good choice for the elderly or disabled. The detached cottages on the grounds would be a better choice.

the main / communal areas I truly do not feel this hotel should be awarded 4 stars. It is the worst four star hotel I have stayed in, The staff tried to be helpful but all spoke poor English. The room are hideous- worse than student accommodation. I was first allocated a double standard bedroom, which was in the attic, the room was tiny and you can barely stand up due to the sloping ceiling, the bathroom was a make-shift facility. It was awful I asked to be moved. They then moved me to one of the suites for one night and I would then return to the awful room. It was very sweet of them to do so. suite was much nicer but over-priced, the phone did not work, the shower door did not close- so the bathroom was always wet, the water would not stay a constant temperature. The lamp shade did not work, the TV did not even have preview only the 5 channels and news. The decor of the main hotel was lovely but other than 3 rooms the rest were very poor standard in deed and far too over-priced.

This is an elegant hotel, located close to Heathrow and close to neighborhoods with authentic Indian food. We stayed in one of the suites and had a beautiful view of the grounds, giant bed, decedent bathroom facilities, luxurious room in a grand style, and an excellent breakfast. We enjoyed a morning walk around the grounds and pond, the only location during our uk trip where we saw lots of wildlife (geese, deer, squirrels, rabbits, & local birds). Recommended but no lift for the second floor rooms.

“The hotel is lovely and the staff very helpful and friendly. We needed an early check-in and this was arranged without any problems, including a special deal to include Sunday lunch. The hotel provides lots of information about travelling there from London and Heathrow, and includes details of a good, reliable local taxi firm, which offers fixed price and discounted fares for hotel guests. We would definitely use this hotel again.” Anne, Nottingham |
