Great location, quiet, staff were great. Lovely room.

Foie Gras on menu would make me not visit again. Also vegetarian options not available. Hotel decor a bit tired in places.

My family stayed for my Wife's birthday, with 5 dogs in total. The staff could not have been more accommodating, friendly and helpful in facilitating our stay. Superb food and service in restaurant. Very informative tour of the gardens with a gardener - well recommended.

The thing that I didn't like about the Ston Easton was having to leave at the end of my stay. Next time I'll aim to stay a bit longer than a couple of nights.

Gorgeous four-poster room. Amazing kitchen garden and grounds for wandering. Lovely food with local and hotel's own produce.

Dining room staff while friendly and helpful, didn't appear to have been briefed on the menu.

The location, with an "away from it all" feeling with all the comforts of home. Wonderful grounds & garden all very well cared for. Friendly & attentive staff, delicious food especially the choices at breakfast. A relaxing stay but with all those special touches - white crisp tablecloths & napkins, comfy beds, bottled water every day in the room and luxurious white fluffy towels and robes.

    Can't think of anything

Absolutely everything. It is like staying at a Country House and idyllic. The perfect hotel in our view!

That there is no spa - otherwise it is perfect.

All very nice other than the stairs to the rooms.

The stairs. Really not suitable for elderly or infirm people. No lift.

    Excellent cuisine.

Tea at breakfast not brilliant - as a tea drinker I can vouch for its improvement in bone china especially in a hotel of that ilk. Staff could help more readily with front door and arrivals. Makes a huge difference to the welcome.

Decor, furnishings, and food were all very pleasing, as were the surroundings. Service was generally very good.

We couldn't get the shower in our bathroom to work. There were only 2 other couples dining in the restaurant, which, together with the slightly austere formality of the waiter rather detracted from the atmosphere. Although the food was good, it was pretty expensive. The "optional" service charge which had been discreetly added when we came to settle our bill on leaving the hotel was not well advertised and unwelcome.

Very relaxing. Asked for a twin room, but on arrival it was a four poster bed. I was with a girlfriend, to celebrate her birthday, and of course we required twin beds. The staff were very obliging and arranged for another room, with the required beds. Very comfortable. Food excellent and the staff were pleasant, very obliging and helpful.

We had difficulty finding it, not very well signposted to the area.

Beautiful building, beautifully situated. A great deal of care had gone into the decor which was perfect for the old house and into the ambience of the public and private areas, The food was delicious and well presented and the staff went out of their way to accommodate my odd dietary requirements. It was wonderful to wander around the grounds and see some of the food growing in the greenhouses.

Having a restricted diet and therefore unable to stomach the very rich and wonderful three course meals I was surprised to be told that the light supper I wanted would need to be eaten in the lounge on a tray! This was not finger food but needed cutlery and surely a table at which to eat it. Moreover, it was not clear from the light supper menu that it would not be served in the restaurant - there is no bar/bar menu. An 'exception' was made when I protested and the second night the manager insisted there would be no problem with any dish or any course I wanted being served in the restaurant. The lounge, although not suitable for dining!, is magnificent but in the evening a little austere and cold - it made such a difference the seond night, when, at my request the fire was lit and the room transformed, inviting guests to stay and drink in its post prandial glow. Finally, our bedroom was comfortably elegant but I would suggest the step up into the bathroom is an accident waiting to happen.

Pretty much everything and especially Oscar . I let on that our friends were having a belated silver wedding anniversary celebration and the staff provided a beautifully decorated plate of petit fours. It is also great to find a hotel that accepts newspaper vouchers.

    Beautiful grounds

Faded grandeur. Slightly faulty towers-esque feel. Look out for add on costs eg £10 for a pot of mint tea. No tea making facilities in the room.

Lovely old house and garden, we were well served and treated. We got quite a good price for an establishment of this sort. Plenty of space. The next day we thought we would be able to luxuriate in the building but is was taken over by a visiting group so we had to find odd corners for ourselves. We had vacated our room by this time. But then the hotel has to make money to keep in business. We would like to go there again. Elegant bedroom.

The dinner and lunch. Both over priced and novelle cuisine, presentation rather than quality of food and everything piled on top of one another rather than vegetables separated out on the plate.

The hotel is in an excellent location, and have a wonderful country house feel about it - just what we wanted. The grounds are wonderfully large. Although we had the lowest grade room - the Classic - it was lovely and spacious for the price - with well appointed furniture and fittings. Gorgeous bathroom. A great place to recharge the batteries - and to take the Grandparents. Dogs are made to feel very welcome, but are not a nuisance to other guests. Although few in number, children too are welcome - and thankfully brought the place to life.

Unfortunately the atmosphere was extremely sterile and not conducive to conversation. May I suggest the playing of some low volume classical music in the background at breakfast - to avoid the Gods' waiting room / Waiting for Godot / to die feel? We felt totally humiliated when, having ordered a meal from the bar menu, we were expected to eat on a sofa in the Drawing Room or Library, from low coffee tables. When asked by another guest why we were eating in such a manner, we explained that we were asking ourselves the same question,. It was as though we were second class guests because we had ordered from the bar menu. The meal which was extremely nouvelle cuisine left us feeling hungry. We were not then inclined to eat our evening meals at the hotel - even though we had been planning to have evening meals - at £45 each there. When we mentioned our rather embarrassing meal experience, there was non real acknowledgement. I do understand other guests did enjoy the proper, more expensive meals. Try the Wheatshef at Coombe Hay - wonderful food, at half the price - Michelin Star too!! The gounds are fab - make more of them by creating more flower and shrub borders, and add steamer chairs for guests to "find"

Really comfy beds ! Good food for dinner .

Appalling lack of attention to detail . It took over 30 mins to get someone to take a tea order , 3 times we went to reception and still had to ask to have coffee table cleared and cleaned . 45 mins I. The end and we served our own tea from the tray ! Rubbish and very expensive .

The hotel has a great attitude, very relaxed and helpful over the baby.

Bath was a little tatty. The portions for the a la carte dinner were tiny!
