Great setting, good service, very enjoyable dinner & breakfast, plus on Sunday morning a walk around the estate with Oscar..
Location and pet friendly
The evening meal menu was very complicated and not much choice if you are vegetarian.
I have been to Ston Easton before and enjoyed the views.
The room needs a complete revamp.old and tired bathroom sink cracked. The shin of beef had so much salt it took the taste away from my tongue and made me breathless I felt I was choking. I asked the waitress to advise the chef, she came back with a sorbet. No apologies. I couldn't eat anything else. We saw the chef by the reception area and asked him about the salt. He said, with his arms crossed in front of him, very aggressively," What more do you want I sent a complimentary sorbet which you don't get on an A le carte menu." I was speechless he was so arrogant and rude. No chef that I know speaks to a customer like that even though they may be tempted if a customer has upset them by being rude first. But I wasn't I was advising him for his own good and that of his other customers at the hotel. The manager was at the reception desk, at checkout, I spoke to him he said that chefs can be very temperamental, that is no excuse for such rudeness form a member of his staff. I'm married to an hotelier, who holds a MHCIMA. We have traveled the world and I can honestly say your chef is the worst I have ever come across. Michael Roux Sr, who my son in law is contact with, wouldn't tolerate such behaviour.
Cuisine -- some of the most delicious food we have ever tasted. Imaginative, unusual but never clever for cleverness sake.
Having to miss out on walking in the park because the weather was against us.
The room, the staff, the relaxing rooms to sit, the food
Victorian gardens Afternoon tea Room
Very expensive for what it is
Lovely grounds and public rooms. Private, comfortable bedroom (East Tower!). Absolutely superb food!!
Lovely beds. Slept like a log. Large and comfortable room. Great breakfast.
Never managed to see the lovely staff other people comment on. We stayed for 3 days but no one ever took time to have a conversation with us. Lack of tea/coffee facilities in room. We would prefer to make a drink whenever we wanted. Not the hotels fault but we could not get a mobile phone signal
Service at evening Meal and Breakfast was very poor. My Wife and I were left a long time with no service. Meals were not value for Money. We left a Letter of complaint for the Manager and got no reply to it. Would not recommend. Not Value for the Money that was Charged.
Service was excellent
A little dated
The hotel is excellent the decoration is what you expect from a country house hotel . Or room was very nice, and if you like fine dining this is the place!! The staff is very helpful and attentive!!!
Tranquil and quiet location stately atmosphere and genuine staff. Food was excellent with great attention to detail, this is cuisine not pub grub expect to pay accordingly. Particularly enjoyed the gardens and amazing vegetables.
Great location, quiet, staff were great. Lovely room.
Foie Gras on menu would make me not visit again. Also vegetarian options not available. Hotel decor a bit tired in places.
My family stayed for my Wife's birthday, with 5 dogs in total. The staff could not have been more accommodating, friendly and helpful in facilitating our stay. Superb food and service in restaurant. Very informative tour of the gardens with a gardener - well recommended.
The thing that I didn't like about the Ston Easton was having to leave at the end of my stay. Next time I'll aim to stay a bit longer than a couple of nights.
Gorgeous four-poster room. Amazing kitchen garden and grounds for wandering. Lovely food with local and hotel's own produce.
Dining room staff while friendly and helpful, didn't appear to have been briefed on the menu.
The location, with an "away from it all" feeling with all the comforts of home. Wonderful grounds & garden all very well cared for. Friendly & attentive staff, delicious food especially the choices at breakfast. A relaxing stay but with all those special touches - white crisp tablecloths & napkins, comfy beds, bottled water every day in the room and luxurious white fluffy towels and robes.
Can't think of anything
Only thing missing was an adapter, hotels usually have more than one.
Excellent food, very good service in a beautiful setting.
Absolutely everything. It is like staying at a Country House and idyllic. The perfect hotel in our view!
That there is no spa - otherwise it is perfect.
Historic building and interior, wonderful country estate with beautiful grounds and walled garden. Fine-dining restaurant and service.
All very nice other than the stairs to the rooms.
The stairs. Really not suitable for elderly or infirm people. No lift.
Tea at breakfast not brilliant - as a tea drinker I can vouch for its improvement in bone china especially in a hotel of that ilk. Staff could help more readily with front door and arrivals. Makes a huge difference to the welcome.
Food, service, kitchen garden
Room price a tad high for what was offered compared to other similar hotels have stayed at incl non uk
Decor, furnishings, and food were all very pleasing, as were the surroundings. Service was generally very good.
We couldn't get the shower in our bathroom to work. There were only 2 other couples dining in the restaurant, which, together with the slightly austere formality of the waiter rather detracted from the atmosphere. Although the food was good, it was pretty expensive. The "optional" service charge which had been discreetly added when we came to settle our bill on leaving the hotel was not well advertised and unwelcome.
