The cleanliness of the hotel and the quality of the food were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and obviously enjoyed working in this environment. There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel

The reception staff were friendly and helpful and sorted out a problem efficiently and promptly. The first room we were put in had an adjoining door to next room so we could hear everything happening next door only too clearly! When the TV was still blaring at 1.45am we had to phone down to reception who arranged for us to move rooms. Not ideal but dealt with promptly. Also, breakfast was pricey at £10, we didn't know what we would be paying until it appeared on the bill.

Beautiful looking hotel 15 minute walk into Kendal and a fiver taxi back. Fantastic cooked breakfast, hot and kept coming. Bed comfortable but creaked with every turn and noisy bathroom fans, rooms at the front of the Hotel can hear the road with windows open. We visited at a time of peak demand because of the Great North Swim, so expected to pay top whack and I felt we did. The room was compact for a King 4 poster

Very pleasant and comfortable stay under difficult circumstances. I was down to visit my seriously ill brother. In the evening a very mannerly young man behind the bar asked if I had had a good day. He could then see how upset I was but handled the situation extremely well, which I was grateful for. After that, we had a lovely meal with excellent service.

Me and my partner went for a weekend away, and stayed in the 4 poster double room. The room was lovely, could of done with being reprinted in the bathroom but the shower was fantastic. Having a pool was also a bonus even though it needs repainting in there too. Food was nice, breakfast buffet was worth getting up for. One of the reception staff, I think it was Sarah, seemed to have a terrible attitude problem with us, and the only reason we could think of was that we were younger than all the other guests. Other than that we had no other issues.

The location was good for hill walks, river, town etc. The room smelt a bit and was drafty. We had awful neighbours in one room which we did complain about. Drunks and fighting for 2 hours - the staff were very apologetic and did give us our breakfasts for free!!!

My husband and I stayed while visiting family, it was an excellent choice, comfortable rooms, quiet and super dinner menu. Staff were unobtrusive but very pleasant helpful. Shall certainly choose this hotel again. We travel all over the world and have sampled all kinds of accomodation in hotels, some have not been very pleasant. I would certanly recommend Stonecross Hotel to any age group.

Upon arrival at 11:00 we were told that we could not check in until 2. Went off to town and upon return hoping to have some lunch we were told there was no food available from 2 - 6:00 pm. Having paid £135 for a premium room we were dissapinted to find the decor in serious need of repair, furniture with coffe stains, and also in need of replacement. The bath was dirty, had vinyl tiles glued on the side and the bathroom like the rest of the room 'tired' and dated. A room with so much space and potential wasted and vastly overpriced....will never stay here again.

Excellent food, and attentive and efficient staff The room was small and cramped. Nowhere to lay things down. The decor was tired, and the shower had mould and dirt on the wall.

Friendly atmosphere, cosy bedroom, helpful staff. Our room was situated above the kitchen and this was a little noisy when they had a party on the first night.

We had a very good room which was immaculate the porter was very friendly and helpful . Bed comfortable and breakfast very good. We had only one night as a stop off on the way to family in Scotland and met up with family in Kendal while there. Would positively stay there probably for longer especially at Late Bookings price. Excellent.

The location was good as we just needed a stop off on the way to Scotland. Staff were excellent and we enjoyed our evening meal. The bed - every move made caused the bed to squeak - which meant a very bad nights sleep.

“The hotel staff were its best asset. From the moment we arrived every single member of staff went the extra mile to help. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels but none of them would come close to the standard of service given by the staff. I broke a bone in my wrist whilst in Kendal and the staff did everything possible to make the rest of our stay as comfortable as possible. We will definitely be visiting again soon. ” Stewart, Norwich |
