Stonehouse Court Hotel - A Bespoke HotelBristol Rd, GL10 3RA Stonehouse (Show map) Good, Score from 132 reviews“It was comfortable, the Staff were helpful and polite. The room was spacious and well equipped”
Andrew,
Yelverton
This 17th-century Manor House is in stunning grounds overlooking Stroud Water Canal and the hills of the Stroud Valley. It has a gym, award-winning restaurant, and routes for cycling and hiking. Stonehouse Court Hotel offers bistro-style lunches and dinners in Henry's Restaurant and Terrace. Henry's has an AA Rosette and serves modern European cuisine with an Eastern influence. The 6 acres of grounds include nice grounds and lawns for a peaceful stroll or croquet. Walk from the grounds to the canal and the countryside beyond. Stonehouse Court is well located for the Cotswold Way, and the chefs can create a packed lunch if you want to spend the day exploring. Some bedrooms are in the manor house and others are in the Garden Wing. All are bright, modern, and many have views of St Cyr's Church and the hotel's grounds. Hotel Rooms: 36

I've stayed at hundreds of hotels, many 5* never have I felt so welcomed on arrival with a beeming smiling receptionist. The place has lots of charactor and wonderful walks, the breakfast was delightfully set within the old house and although we stayed in the annex the views over the garden, church and canal were lovely, next time we'll try and stay in the summer. Well done to the owners of this establishment, you should be proud!

Exclusive rooms and furniture. Fantastic location. Cleanness. On the first view very good, but on the second with some faults (Blood on some curtains, table instable, some curtains stripped). A good matron would see this.

Beautiful grounds and canal area behind the hotel, very tranquil. New annexe is very modern and not a good blend with original part of the hotel. Would loved to have stayed in the older part which is very atmospheric. The annexe was like a Premier Inn.

Reception staff on check-in were very polite and helpful, they sorted out a room change, due to an uncomfortable bed, with the minimum of fuss. The quality of the food, especially dinner, was nothing short of outstanding, and served in a very atmospheric restaurant. Be careful though of an unpublished maximum spend for half board guests. The gym is well equipped and adequate for purpose. The staff in the restaurant all seemed very young and inexperienced. They knew nothing of the food they were serving and had to keep leaving to ask the chef. The checking out experience was an absolute nightmare, with a very rude and unhelpful receptionist. Be very clear about the deal you have booked and take any internet print-outs you have as proof against being overcharged.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely character building, friendly receptionist and helpful. Attitude of dining room manager, had to wait for orders at dinner, communication said we were not booked in for dinner and yet receptionist took time of when we would like dinner. Was rushed in breakfast. Waited for dinner rushed at breakfast.

We liked the quality of the room, as we were given a room upgrade on arrival, and the beautiful setting of the hotel. We booked an advertised package to include tickets to the Westonbirt Arboretum, the reason for our visit. On the first morning we were informed in a very rude manner that the hotel no longer provided these tickets (and had not done so for several months), even though the final bill quoted the Westonbirt offer. We had to buy our own tickets.

Good breakfast, only hindered by resetting tables for dinner at 8.50am I expected more luxury in an executive double, the curtains were shabby & torn, no comfortable chair, only one free electric socket, no where to set the coffee/ tea facilities, minimal bathroom accessories. Very disappointing quality.

The Hotel was clean and quiet. It had reasonable facilities, was nicely set back from the road and easy parking for guests. The gardens were as nice as the time of year permitted. Staff. The reception I received was polite but not exactly welcoming, indeed I felt I was an unwanted intrusion to a busy day. On departure there was not a hint of "hope you enjoyed your stay and do please come back". Your restaurant waiting staff need to be trained in serving manners and your cook for breakfast could not poach eggs (broken yoke and a mess)nor cook a tomato. Any half decent establishment would not have served a mess of an egg and on request to properly heat and cook the tomato would have done so properly, it came back only a little better cooked and tasterd disgusting ( I cannot imagine what was added (in spite??) to the tomato). I would say find another cook.

My room. Very comfortable and quiet. My total experience was poor. I had to wait 45 mins for my evening meal, i had not kettle in my room, the hot water was not working and my breakfast was uncooked, i.e boild eggs were raw. The staff seemed friendly and helpful on first impressions but the service was poor. THey were never around when you required assistance. I will not be staying again.

Loved the real genuine grade 2 features and the location. Didn't like the dirty windows and the dirty paper tray cover for the tea tray in the room. The cooked breakfast was all overcooked and cold. The eggs were served to order but took a long time so couldn't be eaten at the same time as everything else. The cold selection was very poor. The pastries were not re-stocked so we just had a choice of crumbs on a plate. There were no glasses for juice and the fruit salad was very sad.

Relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful location. Staff very pleasent and helpful First 2 nights lovely and relaxed Saturday night had to pay an extra £35 for the room and breakfast. Because the hotel was full from a wedding on Saturday the breakfast on Sunday morning was not as good as the other days as the hotel struggled to feed and seat the wedding party. We felt a bit like a spare part.

Location, food, attentive staff. Overall a nice venue 'New' rooms were not completed to a good standard, broken shower heads, electrical socket not working. Rooms generally clean, but lots of cobwebs / dead spiders. Not the level of finish I was expecting in line with the price

room in old house, not the annex Young, willing, polite and helpful staff but lacking on details. first we were given a std room although we had booked an upgrade room. After changing to booked room there were only towels for one guest as room had been set up for one. Should have been checked prior to mvoing us. There was no soap on wash-hand basin and a request resulted in more shower gel and biscuits but no soap! Finally there was a 40 minute wait for olvies at supper wwhich were suppose to be an apperative although, because of the wait, we were not charged for them. So series of small errors which staff tried hard and cheerfully to correct but perhaps more training in checking details would help ior may be more staff. There were only about three on duty during our entire stay..

Accomadating staff, willing to try and make amends for what could have been a huge error on there part after booking us in the room we did not book on booking.com . Stunning setting and amazing building on the outside, perfect location for what we were looking for. After being put in an exec double in the garden wing I was satisfied but that's all! It wasn't exactly an exec double! Lack of attention to detail, loose window sills, cracks in walls, no bed valance, stains on carpets in bedrooms, lots of marks to walls. Regarding room service it might have helped to have been given milk for the cereal or even a knife and fork for the full english! Not great just mediocre!

The room smelt very musty - even with the window open all night. The room service breakfast was awful. Tea/Coffee stewed and undrinkable - yoghurt and grapefruit missing no plates for the toast. Sorry never complained before about any of your hotels.

Setting with great walks and a beautiful building. Very friendly staff, especially receptionist on arrival. Easy parking and central to local towns, attractions and motorway. Having to ask reception to get someone to go to the bar whenever we wanted a drink. Not enough towels. Only one set given on two evenings. Breakfast cold when buffet offered. Food prices too high and not enough variety. Answer to question below possibly

Restaurant and bar staff were however endlessly helpful, willing and pleasant.Beautiful gardens It's a £10 train journey to the station. It's always disappointing to book into a hotels whose USP is the beauty of the building and find that you are in the new annexe. Restaurant Staff appear to be possibly schoolgirls (?) Very pleasant but not very aware of the menu - they need further training. in what the dishes consist of.

The hotel is a beautiful building and is set in lovely grounds. Rooms were dated, old bathrooms. The system for breakfast seemed chaotic and took a while. The little touches were missing like they forgot to deliver newspapers. Staff were very friendly and nice but could probably do with a bit of training

We arrived very late at night and past check-in time, but the hotel was accomodating on this issue. The staff in general were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy and the breakfast was tasty. The decor in the room was a little dated, but the main problem was the shower, which was very poor. No power, just a dribble, and it seemed impossible to find a temperature that was neither freezing nor scalding. The hotel seemed very under-staffed. The - all very young - staff seemed to be trying their best, but breakfast was a bit of a shambles, with neither enough tables nor enough food for everyone. Eggs were cooked to order, which was great, except that when my eggs arrived the buffet seemed to have run out of everything else, so they were cold by the time the buffet was replenished.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic 2 nights at this hotel. The location was very good, with lots of countryside around and pubs and restaurants within walking distance. There were weddings on both days, but I have no idea where because it was all done well away from other guests enjoying the hotel! The staff were great and only to happy to help. All in all an excellent hotel which I would highly recommend if you are looking to get away from it all.
