Character of Hotel and location Excellent food with a good choice on both the al a carte and bar menu.
A warm welcome! Upgrade to Manor room Excellent meals Friendly Staff
the rooms were very clean and staff very pleasent
the corridor between the old building and new building, was very cold when walking through, having the windows open probably didn't help the heating.
Beds very comfortable. Convenient location.
Rooms needed updated. Staff pleasant but needing trained in customer service. Cobwebs in room.
Friendly staff, great food, comfy bed, quiet and gorgeous grounds
Nothing at all
The breakfast was good with fast, friendly service.
The place was shabby, peeling paint and cobwebs and their was mould in the shower!
This hotel was easy to find and although I arrived late the receptionist was most helpful and realizing that my room would be hard to find , being at some distance from the reception desk, she kindly walked with me to my room. The room was warm - it was a cold night out - and I slept well.
I had an early appointment in the morning and needed to make haste. It did not help that as I left my room there was no sign of a sign to guide me back to the breakfast room. There was a sign for "fire escape" so I took that route and found it to be the wrong way. This was very annoying. Signposting in this large hotel was poor in many places and needs more attention.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Facilities were good and room was very clean.
car park was very uneven and muddy as it had been raining.
Staff were especially friendly and helpful. Loved the main building with the fab fireplaces, log fires and oak panelling etc The food in the restaurant was very good and the waiters were very helpful.
The room in the new annexe was in need of some TLC. Although it was very clean it needed some redecoration etc. The bed was also quite hard and unforgiving. I think a dress code would be nice in the restaurant as some diners were just wearing jeans and t-shirts. The waiters looked immaculate and served with white gloves on and the guests didnt look in keeping with the surroundings.
The old house was warm and inviting with a log fire giving a homely feel.
Lack of bar staff for a wedding was disappointing. Poor preparation during function meant waiting for pipes to be cleaned before being able to be served. Ensuite facility needs updating.
Excellent public areas in beautiful manor house
Small bedrooms in modern annexe let down the hotel
Clean linen and towels
Stained carpet and stool Hair left in hand basin Scant products in bathroom The hotel was tired The tables in restaurant basic Dead rose on all breakfast tables Substandard paper napkins
Provision of room close to reception as requested
More lighting in room
This is my 2nd visit to this hotel. I love the hotel itself, although it can be pricey at times.
A mouse appeared in my room the first night. I was promised this would be dealt with. 2nd night - two mice in my room! The heating had also been noisy and kept me awake for two nights. They upgraded me into a lovely room, but offered no compensation at all.
Bed linen and size of pillows and having 4 pillows. Room size. Quiet room. Loved the old.building and the grounds and the accessibility to walk along canal Also the night I stayet it was Bell ringing at the church right next door, it was beautiful with the softness of an Autumn evening.
Towels nice size but very in need of replacement -very worn and discoloured including bath mat. Condensation in Window and while liked quiet room - the lovely tree blocked view. Maybe would have liked a room where I could see canal but it may have been best in view of request for quiet. TV was a bit erratic. Wardrobe and paint work need a refurbish. I requested decaffeinated Tea. There was none provided either in room or at Breakfast.
Hotel appearance from the outside and gardens. Breakfast and staff
The rooms are located in a 80's extension down a maze of tired corridors to what can only be described as an old B&B style room. Very dissapointing!
Graceful exterior of the building Warm fire on a cold night
poor restaurant choices reception staff (evening) unhelpful bedroom furnishings worn/damaged taps in bathroom difficult to turn on/off Room located too far away from restaurant/bar, is like a rabbit warren
Location & easy parking
Room was very cold
Food was very poor and small portions and very expensive
The location of the hotel was superb
The lack of management control when things went wrong. The quality of general maintenance in the bedroom was very poor
The staff are very willing, If you ask, they make a genuine effort to assist, and show some creativity. Beautiful walks behind the hotel.
Staff seemed to lack direction. "Busy" putting candles on empty tables in the lounge rather than waiting on guests in the bar. Kept having to go and find someone to buys drinks or order dinner. Willing to help when asked, but not very welcoming. The bar and the rooms are in dire need of renovation. The Fish and Chips on the Bar Menu were truly sad. Seemed like a frozen fish portion. Same for chips.
Dirty carpet and shower head in room. Very small room for price. Waited 20 minutes before order taken for breakfast. This was only after another couple had asked for order to be taken and told waitress we had been ignored too.
staff lovely and attentive lovely hotel/character real fire in entrance lounge room comfortable lovely views (in second floor in annexe)
Main thing we were sat by very loud raucous guests in dining room, couldnt hear ourselves speak. we could have been sat in the breakfast room round the corner along with where slightly less deafening, spoilt the meal, couldnt wait to finish and get out of dining room. wish we had asked to be moved at the start of our meal. attention to detail in rooms needed-fan in batroom, bedside light not working
Very comfortable. Lovely room. The best dinner I have had for ages. Lovely surroundings. Helpful staff at dinner.
Coffee at breakfast was not hot. I was brought a replacement carafe and that was cold too. The breakfast itself was lovely but the table had been re-laid without milk, sugar, salt & pepper
Bar staff excellent Restaurant staff ok Reception staff surly
Being a bespoke Hotel, my expectation was high, unfortunately, the facilities and cleanliness did not live up to the name. The bathroom was old fashioned, mould around the seals and generally not to standard. The old fashioned TV with digi box was a surprise, and reception poor
