Penrith is a lovely town.
Penrith is a lovely town. It has all the facilities you need such as supermarkets, bars and restaurants. I was impressed with the cleanliness too. It is an ideal place to stay in to explore The Lakes as well as castles nearby.

Nice buildings with lots of character.
Nice buildings with lots of character. No huge shops but loads of smaller varied places. The town was alive and generally well kept.
Good range of eating places and some really good pubs.
The town is not huge, so once there everything is easy to walk. It's not particularly hilly, though heading for the castle is uphill.

Penrith is a great little town close to Ullswater , plenty of restaurants and independent shops. The house itself is close to town centre and pay parking. Free street parking is available a short distance ( uphill) away.it is a lovely house for a family , well equipped and clean - books and games for adults and children. We are highly likely to stay again.

The town of Penrith is situated just right for trips to almost anywhere in the Lake District . Easy to access from motorways . A charming old town , and very friendly people . We ate at the Board and Elbow , good food at reasonable prices , friendly staff .
Lots of free parking and the apartments are in a very quiet, out of the way farmland. The place is extremely comfortable and when we had an issue with the dryer not working it was replaced within 24 hours. (great response time). We should have stayed longer as this place has everything that you need. There is a wonderful tiny pub about 3 minutes drive away that does great food (The Globe Inn is open most evenings). The location suited us as we were doing some ancestry research in and around the area between Penrith and Carlisle.
Alison is a great host; warm, welcoming and very helpful. The room was warm and clean, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night.
There were a number of breakfast options, and the food was of a good quality and well cooked.
The location is excellent, with a private parking area at the rear of the property. I could walk into the town centre in a few minutes and it was ideally suited to visit Potfest.
The accommodation is very good value for the prices, and No 3 will be my first choice on future visits to Penrith.
The hotel is in a little village with just a village green and a small shop it is lovely though weather was nice so we could sit outside and have a drink it was about 15 minutes and 12£ in a cab to penrith, room was lovely bathroom a tad small but usable, food in the restaurant was nice the fish was nicer than the steak..the staff in the evening were great and the breakfast was tremendous...
Great restaurant/breakfast service
Recycling bins in room
Water fountains on floors of hotel to refill bottles
Had Decaf tea on offer
Swimming pool was good
Handy location off motorway and walking distance to Penrith
Clean and the rooms/general decor was nice
Fire pit outside with a Herb garden
WiFi was good enough for streaming catch up.
Lovely grounds and area - and the host was incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. She gave great recommendations for places to eat, helped me with my dogs medication, and even dried my soaking wet clothes after getting caught in the rain.
Breakfast was delicious too - I would absolutely recommend this B&B.
Characterful accommodation in a traditional village pub. Plenty to like about this recently renovated small hotel run as a community enterprise. Enjoyed the meals set in the intimate bar/dining room shared with the rural residents as their "local".
A good alternative to the traditional towns for a visit to the Lakes.
Such a fun place to stay and in a peaceful location, yet handy for the surprising amount of places of interest around Penrith.
Best use was made of the limited space a signal box affords.
Very helpful to have the owners next door to sort out queries.
A weekend of rain and gales but the signal box stood firm !
Breakfast is good, and is included in the price (otherwise we wouldn't have it but would get something in town). Parking is easy, fairly cheap, and very close. The hotel is very close to the town centre, which is good, as Penrith is (for us) a worthwhile town to potter around and spend money.
Lovely countryside location. Stayed in the apartment which was great and well equipped. Comfy beds. Dishwasher. Smart TV etc with a charming view of sheep in the field. Superb food at the hotel. Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic! Staff were really friendly and helpful
Our stay was for one night room only. This is a nice hotel in the centre of Penrith, we have stayed here before but this time it was just to break our journey on our way home from a holiday touring Scotland. The hotel is clean and friendly with lots of old world charm.
oneysuckle Cottage is a hidden gem with two park places. And soon as you walk through the door the cottage is elegant decorated and very cosy. With the hot tub on a private balcony I’ll definitely be booking to stay again left feeling completely relaxed
This was my second stay at Roundthorn, exceptional service, easy check in and friendly staff throughout.
I had dinner and breakfast the following day, both of excellent quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Penrith area
The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a very nice location with beer garden views on Penrith Castle and 1 min walk from train station from which buses to the lakes depart.
Stayed here as 17 of us were taking part in a SUP/Bike/Run Triathlon event, the hotel is in a great location being in the centre of Penrith, and the staff were so helpful and accommodating with everything we needed.
The hotel and room was tastefully decorated, bed comfortable and close to downtown eating. Great amenities. Loved having an early cup of coffee and taking a few snacks for on the road. Breakfast very well done.
A real gem in the heart of Penrith, great choice of breakfast and warm and friendly hospitality. We stayed on a Saturday night and found The Lounge Hotel & Bar to be exceptional value for money.
