The location for us was good - simply because it is not too far from the university, and we were in Leicester for an open day at the uni with our son, who is intending to study there next year. This was a most disappointing hotel. We chose it initially since it was quite close to the university which we were visiting for an open day with our son, but the location proved to be the only plus-point. They made a big thing of advertising how some of the family rooms (ours included) even had a 'jacuzzi and steam room' but I would happily have settled for a good old-fashioned shower that worked. The beds were ancient. I was disturbed to find that they had sheets and blankets in place of duvets (come on, this is the 21st century, guys) The blankets were full of cigarette burn holes, and from the smell of them, god knows when they were last (if ever,) given a wash. The 14-inch (!) tv had such a bad picture, it gave us a headache after 30 minutes viewing. The room was grubby, the bathroom floor tiles were coming up and the bathroom fittings were in bad shape. All in all, I must say that I won't be going back to that hotel again.

The staff were in general good. Room was clean and location good. Breakfast good. My room was small. I asked for change of room but this did not happen until the end of my visit.

The administration was professional The beds were very uncomfortable. The net curtains were torn and the main curtains were hanging off the curtain rod. The shower was hanging off the wall and we had to use it as a hand shower and the water was not hot. There were complete iron marks on the carpet where an iron had been dropped on a few occasions. We admittedly arrived late 9.45 but the restaurant was open until 10 pm so we were told we could have a meal. However we were not able to have a dessert because "the kitchen was now closed." On the whole very disappointing

Not very much. Stoneycroft hotel looked very nice on the internet but in reality it was completely different. It was very old and run down with the creakiest stairs and floor boards i've ever come across. The staff were inefficient, the breakfast was just slopped out on the plate. The bar and restaurant looked very pleasant and we enjoyed a drink in it. Overall I thought it was a big let down compared to other hotels which i've stayed in, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else and will not return.

The receptionist barely spoke any English and had no idea why the TVs weren't working or when they would be repaired. That was not her fault, she shouldn't have been put in that position. Notices were mispelled but my biggest complaint is the dirt. My cramped non smokng room stank of smoke and, in one corner, of vomit. There were splash marks on the wall, and I didn't dare walk on the carpet which was filthy. The shower being blocked with a great plug of hair was the last straw. I moved out the next day to somewhere more clean and hygenic. How this got three stars is a mystery.

The bandwidth of the WiFi connexion was good. That was it :( Overall, I was really disappointed with the hotel, and I think they really should be assessed in terms of being able to be advertised on booking.com with regards to what they currently state as their offer and what you actually get in reality. The room was filthy (it hadn't been cleaned despite me checking in at 3.15pm, and I was offered no explanation or compensation despite having to go to a meeting and not being able to even shower), the walls are paper-thin, there was no TV due to the digital switchover, the breakfast took 35mins (!!) to be made and I only asked for a couple of poached eggs, and the staff were apathetic at best. Sad waste of £59.

I was booked in for a saturday night and on arrival i found that they had booked me for a sunday night instead. I was offered a complimentry drink of a pint of lager which i can only describe as fowl. Then the receptionist say that the hotel is fully booked and she will ring around other hotels for a room for me. 20minutes later she came back and said she has founnd a room in the hotel, so i went and had a look, it was a rabbit hutch on the second floor with a t.v that did not work and god only knows what the stains were upon the wall !! So as you can guess i was not best pleased and went to complain. She then offered me another room which was better but the decore was shocking. So from a hotel that was fully booked to one that magically appears to have two rooms available was pretty shocking. The staff seemed not to have a clue what was going on and was a very unprofessional set up. I will not book to go back there again.!!!!!!

The place is just too old to call itself a three-star. Rooms are tiny and warn out. The bathroom in one of the two rooms I tried looked centuries old, and its shower didn't work for two days in a row! I was then kindly moved to a room with a newer, working shower. Also, for all my 4 nights there, neither tv nor wifi worked.

It had a homely feel to it. The drains of the shower unit were clogged, so I requested a change of rooms, which was done immediately, but I faced the same problem in the other bathroom as well! Also, despite being told that the rooms have 24hr wifi, the entire row of rooms where I stayed, did not catch signal from their router.

The staff were very friendly and helpful . It was easy to get to the centre of the city as there was a bus stop outside . I could leave my car parked outside the hotel safely The standard of decor in my room was a bit shabby and I had to keep the widows open as there was an odd smell . I think it may have been a smokers room on reflection . I didnt get the shower to work Everyone on the TV was green ! and the sky was pink

The hotel room was clean & had all the required ameneties. The hairdryer was reasonably good. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were efficient & friendly & the breakfast was very good & came out at incredible speed. There was a rocking santa in reception which made a funny noise but I suppose you can't escape a bit of chritmas tat.

Reception staff assisted with directions including printing off walking directions. Recption staff also arranged for TV to work. Breakfast was good. Room very small and very hot. Window only opened 2 inches. Overhead Light and clock not working. Impossible to fill kettle at the sink. Cooked breakfast was provided within 1 minute of cereal. therefore almost cold at eating.

The place is good nearthe town. Breakfast It has been a great weekend but to you the truth I was not very happy because I called before to aks about my 3 year old child and I was told its ok there is nothing to worry but by the time I arrived I was told I had to pay. After paying for that I was expecting that the bed was going to be big and we have to squeeze on that double bed. On booking you said there is wifi but there no internet access, on tv one channel in this country you can get 1-5 channels so this was poor service. The other thing is that I was not even happy about when icomplained about the noise in the next room it was 22:30 the noise was too much and I was told there is nothing we an do at that night time. To sumup everything if you only have one channel its better to put cbeebies so that the little ones willhave something/toys in the rooms with chidren. Tell the truth to people of what you have please.also I forget the water was not even hot it was lucky warm water which was not good enough to bath

It was placed nearto where my son is staying. I found the room very small and it hadnt been cleaned properly as I found paper on the floor by the bed. The bathroom tiles on the floor were broken and a trip hazard. When you go in the room the chair is in the way, very sparse tea making facilities. The hairdryer was very old fashioned. There was no vegetarian breakfast , I wasnt given any alternative to meat. When people were leaving at 11am there was no one at the desk to take the keys.

Good parking, good breakfast, good staff, good location, good discount price for £29.50 single room. Nothing bad to say except normal published price in the hotel was £48 which would have been way to high compared to a new modern hotel ie; Travel lodge/Premier inn/Ibis/Etap etc. Everywhere in the hotel the floorboards creaked with every step

It was cheap and cheerful. Nice staff, and better value for money than other budget hotels I've stayed at. Some reviews on here have complained about cleanliness and the condition of the rooms, but I didn't find this to be an issue. The website is a little misleading as to walking distances. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the train station, and further from the city centre.
