In beautiful landscaped grounds, Beech Hill has an AA Rosette restaurant and an indoor heated pool. Some rooms feature spa bathtubs, four-post beds or garden terraces.

With stunning and exclusive panoramic views of Lake Windermere, this beautiful country house is right on the lake’s shore. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea on the stone terrace overlooking Windermere.

Being so close to Lake Windermere and the lovely private grounds. Room and food were A1. Staff very accommodating.
We had a good time , excellent hotel
Everything about it particularly the location .
Unrivalled location on Lake Windermere.Perfect views Calm & peaceful Lovely grounds Excellent food quality and presentation Head of Maintenance was a star in helping us +++ Extra bonus for him
Only problem was reception staff very disorganised on checking in and manner defensive & unhelpful. Just young girls who could do with a bit of coaching and support. Check out girl was very efficient.
Perfect location and friendly helpful staff
Limited choice restaurant menu
The views were stunning. Excellent food Staff in the restaurant very friendly and helpful. Extremely comfortable beds
Limited amount of fresh fruit for breakfast.
Fresh hot pastries which were over an hour late
No wifi Old facilities Dirty sink Lights not working TV fixed to wall wonky and too small for the room Cleanliness was very poor especially for small children No hot food after 9pm
Nice setting and interesting hotel
We loved the location and our room, the "Lake View" was excellent.
In some areas, service was unprofessional. Restaurant food was good however service was lacking. Check-out took over 20 minutes.
Good location albeit out of the centre Availability of car parking
Poor atmosphere Service at breakfast first day - very slow Room not over clean
From beginning to end.. Perfect hosts, location, room, nothing could have been improved... Amazing stay... Thank you
The building is fascinating lots to look at The grounds go to the lake which was lovely Nice room Clean and tidy
Very poor service at breakfast, it was like fawlty Towers, sat for one hour after taking our order before our quite small full Cooked breakfast arrived and not hot. Cold toast, poor to refil the juice and milk staff didnt seem to know what they were doing. We could see that all customers were experiencing the same issues. Spoilt what could have been a nice stay.
Good food At tentative staff
All staff were great, professional and friendly
No outside dining, no entry from back of htel to garden, no drinks service in garden, most of all no aircon in the rooms, it was stifiling.
Restaurant food was superb, easily Michelin Star standard; romantic location, spacious day rooms, lovely garden and lakeside setting.
Some of the rooms/suites are not up to the mark. A handful of excellent staff (“Fred” was one) are carrying all the others who don’t seem to care.
beautiful views, great location,so peaceful. very comfortable
not a very friendly welcome, two poor cooked breakfasts but fresh fruits and pastries good. but I still plan to return next year.
It's restaurant was particularly good with first class food and service. Location of the hotel and it's grounds are superb.
No room safe of refrigerator.
The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble, also the position of the hotel is perfect on the lakeside and the hotel has a relaxed but elegant ambience
The food in the restaurant was not as good as the price suggested, but breakfast was excellent
A beautiful hotel , in outstanding surroundings. Will definitely recommend to family and friends
Most everything except the point's below
The conservatory window sills at breakfast were very dirty....had to wait for our breakfast. The staff were very polite and helpful just dis organised....
The location next to the lake and close to Bowness. Taxi service if required was prompt and cheap.
The bar prices and the total lack of atmosphere. A bit background music in certain places would not go amiss.
It was reasonably well priced for travellers wanting separate rooms- so two double rooms each with single occupancy priced well compared to other hotels available. Its well recognised that Fred the restaurant manager is a key figure in the smooth running of the whole hotel viz guest experience. The food in the restaurant for dinner was of an exceptionally high standard.
It feel short of what we would regard as 4 star. This cannot be blamed on the staff- they can only work with what they have. The building is listed of course, but the facilities are tired, even where refitted. The workmanship is poor with paint on glass windows, windows painted shut, paint over brush marks on radiators and other fittings. The carpets in the rooms were in need of change- not a great cost given there are only 30 bedrooms and would make a big difference to the overall feel. Likewise the bathrooms and WC's. If the modern but high standard of the evening restaurant food was applied to any refurbishment work things would be a lot better. We are in the property business ourselves, and the impression we have is that there is much that could be done here to make much more use of the location and to create an atmosphere. This would also increase the hotels profits as rates could be increased. More use could be made of the bar- profits generated here in most hotels are being completely overlooked at Storrs Hall. Overall it is felt that the building needs more maintenance than is currently being applied on a day to day basis. A 4 star hotel should have toilet seats that stay on, bathrooms with complete glass shelves (not missing ones) and the cosmetics should be replenished every day. We have stayed in a range of hotels from the very best to the very cheapest. Storrs Hall wither needs to come done to a 3 star, thereby managing guests expectations (and the rates are broadly in line with this anyway) or step up the mark and be a full service 4 start hotel, and charge accordingly to cover the costs of the improvements needed.
Dog facilities good and staff really helpful and loving towards large German Shepherd
Excellent food but pretentious menu with many words unknown to a well-educated Latin scholar!
The location of the hotel and its grounds was superb, probably with the best views on lake Windermere. The hotel offered a comfortable and relaxing stay. Breakfast and service was very good. Would definately come again and recommend to others.
Considering the pricey tariff for a junior lake view suite, there were no coat hangers in the wardrobes. We opted to have an evening meal (unlike the breakfast experience) finding the service to be painfully slow between courses. The service during the meal was disjointed and disorganised. There was a lack of atmosphere in the dining room and could have done with some background music. Overall the evening dining experience was not good value at £45 per head.
The views and location are excellent.i love the decor of the hotel.it was a beautiful stay, and will definitely return.
