Location is great to see London's landmarks. Restaurants, bars, theatres, clubs at walking distance. Good value for money in central London, don't expect luxury just a fair hotel for 2,3 night stay. shared bathroom and toilet but clean.
Noisy. Not suitable for families.
If you don't mind just above hostel level and want a central London Hotel at a reasonable price then a double room here is well worth it. If hostel type accommodation is OK with you then this is one of the best.
Price was unrivaled, Breakfast was fine, if you consider the price. Clean rooms.
Hotel-guests do not (properly) clean shower or toilet when used. Not fault of Hotel, but still.
Not much to dislike, you get what you pay for. A bed, a sink, wardrobe, a window and a door that locks! Plus the added security of a coded door to access the upper floors. Hey they even throw in a little bit of breakfast. I've stayed in London plenty of times and I have never found anything with a location this good for a price so good - have stayed in worse places much further out.
Not much - It's obviously very basic so adjust your expectations. The Strand is very busy early in the morning so expect it to be noisy, especially on a warm night with the window open. But you're in London for a reason other than sleeping though, right?

Too many stairs. No lift. very sore legs when having to reach 5th floor carrying cases
I stayed at the hotel continental on 21st august 2014 and doing the staff to be very miserable not very helpful quite sharp in tone I had a very poor nights sleep with doors banging all night I had the flattest pillow to sleep on and was only given one I wouldn't stay here again
I liked especially the India Club Bar, its colonial decor, really beautiful. I met there French, German, American, Brasilian, elderly and young Tourists. The breakfast is excellent too and this Hotel is in the Center of London, close to the British Museum. Sieghad Marschall, Germany
location for us was important and Strand delivered
the stairs, however we only went to the hotel to sleep.
Clean room, 24 hour entry, decent breakfast set-up.
No lockers in room.
Room was clean. Breakfast was good.
Very basic. Looked unclean, bed was creaky and only had one flimsy pillow. Curtain was hanging off. very noisy both from traffic outside and from other rooms (walls very thin, could hear conversation in next room)
have stayed many times as it has a central location Very good price for London
Remember it's it's shared facilities Very basic
The location and the street is almost perfect!
Extremely noisy. My floor was full of students who spend all the night shouting and doing slams! There is no lift and the stairs are very narrow...
Good location, staff is quite friendly
All hotel with smell from restaurant at second floor. No lift even 6th floor
Really good value for central London and the place was kept really clean. The breakfast was basic but really filling.
The shared shower on the sixth floor could do with a mop leaving outside as the floor got very wet. The toilet door needs fixing and the curtains in room 62 need sorting out.
The location is perfect.. the rooms are as you would expect, basic but clean. I love that you get breakfast. The Indian Restaurant has a brilliant reputation. I must try next time I'm there.
Curtains unhooking every time there were pulled and because the ceiling is so high, you could not re hook.
Location Free Breakfast Comfy bed Kettle Room size sink in room Recently painted Clean
Carpet could have done with a clean smelt a bit stale Banging doors - although I know this isn't really the hotel's fault, I think they could put something on the doors to stop them slamming so loudly. No TV - Would be nice to relax after a long day in London with a TV.
Fantastic location Really cheap Worth it
The facilities are really...simple
Shower doors were broke, toilet roll was scarce
Everything was nice for the money I paid. Nice breakfast.
Check out time - too early!
Grateful to the staff who allowed me to book in early so I could freshen up, and then store my suitcase while I went out.
The stairs could be a problem, but because you can leave your luggage in a room on the first floor it needn't be an issue. However you need to know that there is no lift and at least 5 stories.
I didn't like anything about the Strand. It wasn't filthy, but it wasn't that clean, the receptionist was polite but the breakfast staff were rude and unhelpful. The breakfast food ran out and they were very reluctant to refill, I had to insist. The room was noisy
The breakfast was in a room too small for all the guests. The breakfast was really poor. The one toilet of the two on our floor did not flush. The staff was NOT lnowledgeable on the public transportation system
Everithing was nasty
