Just steps from Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden, Amba Hotel Charing Cross is housed in a beautiful, Grade II-listed building. This 4-star hotel features a restaurant and stylish rooms.
Score from 510 reviews Superb
The room sizes are good and it is obvious there has been investment and the hotel is reasonably well managed
The hotel does not really have a style or target Market. It has obviously had money spent to update but could have been much more stylish for probably no more investment. Would have been worth hiring a decent interior designer to give it a better feel and something of a theme. No-one can really enjoy staying there. It is just a fair deal about which you can't complain
nice bathroom with new furniture express checkout
very small room
Location close to Covent garden and theatres
I was taking my mum to the Lion King at the lyceum theatre and this was the best location for it! Definitely recommend it was a lovely night out and had a lovely sleep.
Corridors a bit noisy with people walking up and down but busy city hotel cant really expect more
The staff were very helpful and the location was great for all amenities
Easy, relaxed, comfortable convenience. Very clean.
It was all good
Nice room, perhaps a bit smaller than some hotels but spotlessly clean. Excellant breakfast. Have stayed here before and will always use the Strand on my London visits.Lo cation is just perfect
A comfortable, spacious room with the best shower ever!
Wifi didn't connect and 3g signal was poor.
Good meals Comfortable beds Two chairs in room Able to store luggage
Entrance steps Cost of drinks Lack of choice in restaurant
The location and the facade are great.
The single room was dark and small.
Breakfast was excellent Easy walk to most attractions: St. Pauls, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Art Galleries, South Bank
Hotel is "tired". Felt like staying in a train station: so many guests mingling in the lobby, so noisy. Bathroom needs a complete renovation in order to give value for money. Bed was very hard. We were on the top floor and the view from our window was a chimney stack and brick wall.
Very convenient location
Quality of breakfast could have been better
We booked the Strand Palace because we had tickets for the Savoy Theatre and were delighted it was so close and also other attractions nearby. Enjoyed the buffet meals. Helpful staff.
I booked through booking . Com with a non refund upfront payment .... 8 minutes after I checked in my wife phoned to say her father had died ... I was given the most fantastic service by the staff involved . I was out of the hotel within 2/3 mins after the news with a full refund ... I have stayed here since , amazing staff ..
Room was too warm overnight and couldn't open the window because of traffic noise.
Situation Provided 3rd bed in Executive suite: special breakfast, good service
Requested in advance stool for shower since have to sit: they provided an unsuitable stool until I raised a scandal - 3 nights ! Electricity failure - no emergency light in room: promised to provide, but did not. Breakfast - proposed Olive Oil: not provided: also more variety in fish - pilchard, mackerel etc. TV - incomplete list of channels Did not provide Sunday Dinner despite in-hotel publicity for all guests over week, or L15 voucher, because I reserced via Booking.com No notice -"Make up room": one day not made up by evening Problems with room key
Ideal location for sightseeing, very convenient to central tourist sights. Staff very helpful and efficient in sorting a rooming problem on arrival would return to this hotel.
Booking.com failed to address an issue when asked to confirm room types.
Location was excellent. Right in Covent Gardens. The desk staff were excellent, very helpful. The Indian restaurant was excellent. The room was very comfortable and well appointed.
The first room we were given was a bit claustrophobic but we were changed without any fuss. We had to request a top sheet on the second night as one was not put on the bed when the room was made up.
Location location location
Absolutely the price, got a single room so small I could not breethe, asked to upgrade and they wanted to charge 100 quid more per night
Bar Indian restaurant breakfast clean bathroom
Small rooms hard beds
Great location. Excellent price for good london hotel.
Breakfast was a bit manic and had to queue up!
no air con in bedroom
All the basics were there: it was clean, good shutters for the window, quiet (courtyard side), free wifi, free bottle of water, laptop safe
wifi was a bit slow room was tiny, but expected for london and the price no iron in the room, but probably available on request
Amazing Location, close to everything Very clean Just as advertised Good proportions to room Comfortable bed Highly recommend.
