location food Good friendly staff
Poor room, bed & room too small, No wardrobe just a hanging rail frame. No shelves or tops to put anything on!
Friendliness of staff and location.
Micr brewed beers , great food , pool table and friendly staff, local musicians entertaining.
Rooms a little bit old fashioned but fine .
Food was outstanding with very generous portions. Very friendly locals and staff who made us very welcome.
the quality of food and drink was excellent
little bit noisy outside
I had really nice beef and ale pie. Red Scree beer is my favorite but the Damson stout's pretty good as well. Hearty breakfast Comfy bed but was a bit creaky and short for a 6 foot+ Bustling bar
Rooms need modernisation, but similar to 4 other pubs with rooms I have stayed in locally. Don't expect TV reception again typical of the location. Very thin walls between bedrooms. WIFI was OK, but signal dropped to often for my liking
Very welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant has a good selection of delicious food. The breakfasts are scrumptious. A lovely place to stay to explore the surrounding area.
It gets booked up quickly, so book your meal early.
Everything, Mark & Lesley, food, beer location, room, breakfast, dinner and atmosphere. Perfect we will be back. :)
Nothing. The place is a gem, my crowd loved it.
Vegetarian food although home cooked was tasteless. Bathroom very small, too small, lots of banged elbows and knees
Location, good selection of real ales brewed on site, Prosecco menu, good food and friendly staff.
Great pub. Didn't want anything posh as we were fell running and cycling. Wanted a real pub wi' proper beer and homemade food. This was perfect. Exactly as required.
Bed was small. If that's the only complaint it proves how ace it was!
Arrived late on a Friday evening to a lovely atmosphere in the bar with live music. Breakfast was excellent. Also managed to fit in evening meal on Saturday and Sunday lunch. Luckily the gorgeous local walks built up an appetite to do the generous portions justice. Will definitely return.
The location was beautiful, the food excellent, the rooms very comfortable and the people and staff all very welcoming! We had a fantatsic stay here and can't wait to go back!
Making the wrong choice to eat elswhere!
Lovely quiet location only a short drive from the start of the route up Scafell Pike at Wasdale Head. The rooms were nicely furnished very clean and a good selection of things for breakfast. Also good food available in the Bar. Would stay again and would definitely recommend to others.
Some noise from the bar which was directly below my room. Also found the shower was only lukewarm.
Comfy beds / good sleep, good pub food and own beers, superb breakfast, excellent location
On arrival, my wife and I were told that we had been put in single rooms rather than the twin that we had booked. We objected, and were eventually given a twin, but were disappointed at the way we were treated on arrival.
Friendly welcoming hotel brill staff and accommodation food wonderful loved it will def return ...
The helpful, cheerful staff. Good food. Quiet location.
Back downstairs rooms of pub need updating.
Friendly Good food
Showers and en suites poor
The Location. The food and beer. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere at pub. The beer garden.
No hot water in the afternoon
Friendly staff, quiet countryside location, great scenery, good breakfast
Not wifi in every room as advertised, but no big deal - we were on holiday !
The location of the Hotel, which is convenient for ramblers.
The room is overpriced for what we've got! Our room was small with very "old fashion" décor (stain on the door, wall paper pealing off, yellow lighting etc), the bathroom was tiny, and you can hear the noise from next rooms.
The staff, food, beer garden and, of course, the BEERS!
Having to leave and come home!
Location close to the main fells, can actually Scafell from the lovely back garden. Food was excellent, would really recommend the steak and ale pie which was superb, although you may struggle to eat it all as the portions are huge. The micro brewery real ales are excellent and priced realistically. Owners are very friendly and have done an excellent job to bring round the business of this pub in the last eight years
bedroom was adequate but the decor needs updating, but saying that it was only to sleep in.
Excellent location as we were climbing Scafell Pike, the food was very good with huge portions ! there was an excellent choice of beers, and the staff and locals were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was large with a good sized bathroom which was very clean. I would definitely stay here again.
My only problem was that the mattress was very hard, but this did not spoil our stay.
