Location, good selection of real ales brewed on site, Prosecco menu, good food and friendly staff.
The location was beautiful, the food excellent, the rooms very comfortable and the people and staff all very welcoming! We had a fantatsic stay here and can't wait to go back!
Making the wrong choice to eat elswhere!
Lovely quiet location only a short drive from the start of the route up Scafell Pike at Wasdale Head. The rooms were nicely furnished very clean and a good selection of things for breakfast. Also good food available in the Bar. Would stay again and would definitely recommend to others.
Some noise from the bar which was directly below my room. Also found the shower was only lukewarm.
Comfy beds / good sleep, good pub food and own beers, superb breakfast, excellent location
On arrival, my wife and I were told that we had been put in single rooms rather than the twin that we had booked. We objected, and were eventually given a twin, but were disappointed at the way we were treated on arrival.
Friendly welcoming hotel brill staff and accommodation food wonderful loved it will def return ...
The helpful, cheerful staff. Good food. Quiet location.
Back downstairs rooms of pub need updating.
Friendly Good food
Showers and en suites poor
The Location. The food and beer. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere at pub. The beer garden.
No hot water in the afternoon
Friendly staff, quiet countryside location, great scenery, good breakfast
Not wifi in every room as advertised, but no big deal - we were on holiday !
The location of the Hotel, which is convenient for ramblers.
The room is overpriced for what we've got! Our room was small with very "old fashion" décor (stain on the door, wall paper pealing off, yellow lighting etc), the bathroom was tiny, and you can hear the noise from next rooms.
The staff, food, beer garden and, of course, the BEERS!
Having to leave and come home!
Location close to the main fells, can actually Scafell from the lovely back garden. Food was excellent, would really recommend the steak and ale pie which was superb, although you may struggle to eat it all as the portions are huge. The micro brewery real ales are excellent and priced realistically. Owners are very friendly and have done an excellent job to bring round the business of this pub in the last eight years
bedroom was adequate but the decor needs updating, but saying that it was only to sleep in.
Excellent location as we were climbing Scafell Pike, the food was very good with huge portions ! there was an excellent choice of beers, and the staff and locals were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was large with a good sized bathroom which was very clean. I would definitely stay here again.
My only problem was that the mattress was very hard, but this did not spoil our stay.
Liked the whole experience good hospitality would go back again
Staff brilliant but room v small for the money . No biscuits supplied which at the price was poor in my opinion.
Size of room
Excellent place to stay when climbing Scafell Pike, really great, friendly atmosphere with home brewed beer to cap it off ..
Staff were lovely. Very friendly people and relaxed atmosphere. Food was excellent. Breakfast was wonderful.
Room was very small for 2 people. TV was tiny in the room. Value for money was poor.
Friendliness of staff. Superb food, both breakfast and evening meal. Location was easy to find, even though off the beaten track of main roads.
Mark and Lesley and their staff made us welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The bar area with the log fire and a choice of 6 real ales brewed on the premises. The rural location and stunning Wastwater and the screes.
We arrived after food had stopped being served after a very long 6 hour drive and they made us a full delicious meal! The cider and real ales are brill. Its in a great location near scafell pike. Our room with the huge bath was lovely. Would recommend it and stay there again!
Couple of woodlice in room and bathroom
