Cosy little inn just what we hoped it would be and some.rooms were great and comfortable and food was out of this world and very reasonable will be back for sure!
Wonderful old coaching inn with excellent staff and good food and beer, can't really ask or hope for more.
the place ,the food, the staff
It was all good
Owner is hard working and friendly and the place is as charming as they come. It was easy to find with the sat-nav using the postal code as the street is "unnamed." The food in the restaurant is fine and we ate there every night. This place has everything you would want from a 400 year old English Inn.
Very clean, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food
I liked the fact it was in a small village and you could hear a pin drop at night loved the peace and quite
Nothing it was just what we where looking
The breakfast service.
Everything -was just as it should be. Staff welcoming, friendly. Flood excellent. Whole stay was fantastic. I would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and family and will be re-booking myself.
Good food, nice rooms and bathrooms, good bar and eatery
Room was very hot at night.
Clean and spacious rooms, location, staff very good and restaurant and food excellent
Nothing all was great
Friendly welcome Period property Colin the host Catered for gluten free
A beautiful place to stay with an excellent breakfast. The owner Colin cannot do enough for you. He immediately responds to any request.
Location was lovely and peaceful. Staff were a delightful crew of smiling and helpful people. Food was excellent quality and very tasty. Reasonably priced for all types and good specials board too. Room 5 was lovely and large and comfy and very clean
Only disadvantage was that room 5 only had a bath....a shower fitting was attached as part of the taps of the bath but you couldn't have a stand up shower. Consequently you had to kneel in the bath in front of taps and hold shower hose in one hand....not great but do-able!
Colin was great. Very helpful.
The owners are very welcoming and all the staff are really great. Food is excellent and a great location for travellers on the M6.
Nothing to not like.
Friendly staff - lovely decorated and clean rooms. Modern bathroom with plenty of hot water. Excellent evening menu and well cooked food. Can't get a better breakfast anywhere with good quality produce.
The welcome was very warm - we were made very welcome. We have stayed here before and will again - need I say more! The food was great, just what we like. One small grouse, some additional hand rails on the stairs would be great for people like me who find stairs difficult. But overall, very good.
I chose the String of Horses because I wanted an 'olde worlde' place in a quiet rural spot, but close to Carlisle. String of Horses fitted the bill perfectly - located in a tranquil rural backwater, but only 10 minutes to the M6 and 15 minutes to Carlisle. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable - I slept really well as there was literally no traffic noise at any time. Food was good and Colin and his team provided excellent service. Thanks!
evening meals and breakfast good sized clean bathroom relaxed surroundings lots of character
window blind was light coloured and the sun lit the room up at 5 a.m. I recommend a blackout blind
the hotel was excellent, really clean and the food was amazing
VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF
Very convenient location and good food
Nice & clean & perfect for a stopover
It was clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good
Bar and restaurant closed on Monday so nowhere to eat. Difficult to find as no signs in surrounding area to Faugh.
Quiet, Convenient , well priced - not over done. Friendly staff and good food.
