Wonderful friendly staff and a delicious breakfast. I felt welcomed and very comfortable.
Kristin was a terrific host, and the inn was perfectly situated for our travel from Glasgow to Islay -- nice evening in Tarbert and perfect to travel easily to the Kennacraig ferry in the morning. We had a lovely dinner there as well.
Great location and excellent breakfast.
Staff and owners
Street light outside bedroom, too much light
The welcome given to us by Kristen and partner was a plus and the standard of the food and accommodation was excellent value for money.
Nothing we didn't like
Constant noise in night and no view
It didn't look particularly inviting from the street, but I booked because it had 4* and was reasonably priced. I was on my own so had booked a single ensuite room which was well equipped with everything I needed including the bonus of free wi fi. I was leaving very early to catch a ferry so was offered either a cold packed breakfast or a reduction in price. Again, that option isn't usually offered in other places. It was quiet, comfortable, licenced, provided meals in the small bistro and the owners were very welcoming. I will certainly be booking here again!
the noise of fish lorries loading up all night long!
Our hosts were more than hospitable and helpful. The quality of everything is tastefully done and the dinner at the restaurant beautifully cooked and served. A lovely place to stay and Tarbert an ideal stopping place, very peaceful and pretty.
Right at the port side- warm and welcoming with excellent food and good facilities. I'd stay again and recommend it highly.
Not having ensuite is a bit of a pain but fully understandable due to the layout of the building. Not much could be done with that but it certainly didn't detract from my overall opinion of Struan House.
The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious, clean with spectacular views across the harbour. The breakfast options suited both of us. Definitely worth a return.
Owners Very nice room with ensuite bathroom Nice view on the harbour Breakfast We also had a great dinner
exceptionally good accommodation, very friendly hostess, lovingly furnished rooms, great rich breakfast with many optional opportunities
Kristen and John were lovely. The room was very comfortable with an excellent view over the had our. The food at the Bistro was superb. Great spot to stop before catching the ferry, 6 miles away, for Islay.
Very convenient stop after 2 days in the isle of islay. The owners have been very welcoming. Excellent ratio quality-price.
Situation was very pleasing. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Helpful and pleasant staff.
Not an on suite room.
Enjoyed our stay immensely - lovely owners, excellent breakfast (best porridge in Scotland), lovely location, great walking and driving routes nearby, nice room
good comfy room. freindly and welcoming staff.
althoughh meal was nice there are others places to eat and wished we had not booked the bistro beforehand after looking at other places in Tarbert.
Really excellent dinner of scallops
Bathroom across the hall, i.e. not en suite
Struan House was ideally situated on Tarbert's quay. If their small reaturant was open on a Monday night we would have eaten there. We were recommended a fish restaurant nearby called Starfish and eat like kings -- beautiful. The B&B was brilliant in every way imaginable -- ask for room called Jura (overlooking the harbour). Five star stay.
No en suite bathroom
Location in the centre of town. Black guillemots in the harbour in the morning.
