St Simeon38 Harrington Gardens, South Kensington, Earls Court, SW7 4LT London (Show map) Pleasant, Score from 175 reviews“The staff was very friendly and helpful during our two days. The breakfast was excellent and the fresh fruit was spot on! The location in Kensington is very safe and only a five minute walk from the underground station which made it easy to get around London.”

Located in South Kensington, St Simeon provides basic bed&breakfast facilities for the budget-conscious traveler. It is convenient for Earls Court and the famous museums on Cromwell Road. Gloucester Road Tube (subway)Station is close by (Piccadilly, District and Circle lines), making St Simeon within easy reach of theaters, nightlife and London's vibrant shopping areas. Public car parks and parking meters are about a 5 minute walk away, and there is a wide selection of bars and restaurants within a very short walk. The hotel's period-style decor is combined with modern necessities, including a communal kitchen. An English breakfast is available in the morning and there are newspapers in the lobby. I had read the rather mixed reviews of this little hotel, and I have to confess that it was with some trepidation that I booked it. I found it charming, It was perfectly clean, the staff were a delight, and nothing was too much trouble for them. It is not a characterless bland, multinatonal hotel, but an individually owned and run small family hotel. I would certainly go again and would have no hesitation in recommending it as it is so refreshing to go somewhere so central which is not run by some massive chain. The only downside was that there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms, but you could use the kitchen. We had very small children so could not travel up and down in the lift so easily., with hot drinks, having said that I did not ask. The Serbian ( I think) owner is very keen for his customers to eat fruit! All in all a very good find in central London. Brilliant position for Museums, Kensington Garden,s Albert Hall etc, all 5 min walk, and restaurants and cafes just down the road.

We come across two front desk staff. The one with evening duty happened to be much more helpful than the other who just wanted to sell some bus tour. The kitchen people were all very nice. We did enjoy every breakfast time. There is a kitchen which we could use as we like even during night time. We managed to cook some evening meals there. The room is untidy and not clean enough. Though the toilet is equipped with a water basin (too small) and a shower corner (without any racks or hooks), there are just put there seemingly without any thoughts about whether they could be used at ease. We stayed at the hotel for one whole week and it's not difficult to imagine the lasting inconvenience to us.

The location is excelent, very safe neighbourhood, only a block from the underground, lots of shops and restaurants in the vicinity. Breakfast was very abundant, full English breakfast and lots of fruits, but much of the food was not very fresh. The staff were helpful. The room were incredibly small and uncomfortable, no air conditioning, nothing to hang clothes on, no room for the bags, no ammenities. The internet only works in the dining area. The hotel provides services (taxi, tours) that are very overpriced. It was not a pleasant place to stay in.

The best thing about St. Simeon was the staff -- we had excellent attention and kindliness from everyone from the front desk to the hotel driver to the maids and kitchen personnel. We experienced a tragedy back home in the states while on our stay, and the desk staff at the hotel helped us greatly with communication, both in timeliness and in cost effectiveness. Best wishes to all staff members at St. Simeon, and a special bow to the front desk clerks. The room was quite small, even by London standards, and someone had positioned the wardrobe so that it partially blocked the one window that could be opened for ventilation. I'd suggest rigging both windows to open, and/or installing a fan -- either a ceiling fan, or even a small oscillating fan. Obviously, guests don't want to invest in a fan for a one to three night stay.

The hotel is at a good place and the staff was really friendly. The breakfast was wonderful and we were stuffed... This budget hotel is a family run hotel and maybe they don't have enough capital to renew all the windows, at least not in all rooms. The walls are rather thin. Be sure to take a soap with you as it is not provided. My biggest problem was that when we have arrived, they have made us pay the fee in advance for the whole stay and after that, they have told us that they currently can't provide us with the four bed room we've booked. Although had I known that before paying for the room, I would have still paid the fee in advance, but this way I felt a little being "trapped". Fortunately, after a day, we've received the room with four beds, and everything turned out to be fine.

Friendly, approachable staff, good location for the Science, Natural History and Victoria and Albert museums and Kensington shopping and less than a five minute walk to the nearest tube so very convenient for Regent St/Oxford St shopping too. Room was very clean, hotel was quiet overnight and breakfast is very generous.

Not alot really, the room was so so cold and damp you literally could not swing a cat! Mind you, you would of been able to swing a gerbil!!! The breakfast wasnt that great either, cold very greasey and the toast was made from a baggeutte which seemed to have gone stale as I couldnt bite into it. Myself and a collegue who stayed were actually laughing at how bad this hotel is!!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. You started your day with a very big breakfast served at your table. They are constently going round asking if you would like something else. A very good selection of food. Bedroom served its purpose, TV didnt really work but although the children didnt like that fact I was not bothered. This hotel is a bit tired looking, a fresh coat of paint, a bit of dusting on top of the reception and moving mattresses from the stairs would make it look so much better.

Location, staff were friendly and accompanied me to the room which was clean. The rooms are very tired, with bed linen that while clean is old. No soap/shampoo or coffee/tea in rooms . This is a very basic budget hotel. If you want cheap and clean this is for you if you like any of life's neccessities avoid.

The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The location was excellent for our needs. The hotel was cheap. The rooms were cold and not enough bedding. The tv did not work in two rooms. No blankets provided. No double glazing and drafty windows. No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms.

We arrived about 9am, knowing that we couldn't get into our rooms until 3pm, but hoping to be able to leave our cases in safety. The management were happy to store the cases, and could obviously see how tired we were after over 30hours on the journey. They made available another room for us to rest in, and provided breakfast. They seemes anxious to oblige, and treated us with kindness. The proximity to Gloucester Road Tube Station was good, and the general area around the Hotel felt safe day and night. Although the staff were obliging, they didn't quite deliver the service we expected. Compared to other places we stayed, we felt the prices were excessive.

The staff is very helpful and the location is very conveninet in the Kensington area close to 2 tube stops and lots of restaurants. Barebones and poor value for the price. Matchboz sized room with a tiny tv. No Air Conditioning - beware for summer stays. Tiny bathroom without even basic amenities like soap. Tine double bed against the wall. No room for 2 suitcases in the room. Breakfast is ok. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Price too high for what you get. Would not stay here again. Pay a little more and stay in a real hotel.

We chose this hotel due to its location with respect to the Royal Albert Hall. For 55 pounds, we got an ensuite double room with breakfast included. The staff were really nice and helpful and the breakfast was also good. Located in a quiet place. Good heating. The room was quite small (just the bed and a small closet and bedside table), and the shower didn't appear to be very clean. However, for the price we paid, and comparing it to other hotels in London, it was good value for money

Very friendly staff. On our arrival we were shown two rooms and given the option of one with a bath and one with a shower. We had a problem with our door key and the receptionist couldnt have been more helpful. The waitress at breakfast was also very attentive. Whilst the food was not the best quality we could not fault the quantity or the variety! As a mum and daughter we found the location very safe, the room was basic but clean and comfortable. All in all good value for money. For the money we paid I cannot think of anything I didnt like. If you want luxury and a large room this hotel isnt for you, but if like us you are looking for a basic hotel that is clean and comfortable, with friendly staff then you shouldnt have a problem. And it is the only hotel I have found just recently that provides an English breakfast.

It was brilliant value for money. The staff couldn't do enough to ensure that we were happy and comfortable. Breakfast was literally all you can eat and the staff would try their best to find something that you would like if they felt you weren't happy with the selection offered. The room was immaculate and warm. We had a very nice stay!
