In central Stow on the Wold, this 17th-century hotel overlooks the square where the original penal stocks still stand.
Score from 271 reviews Very good
The extra touches - good selection of quality teas, coffee and chocolate drinks in the room. Miniature shortbreads all beautifully presented. Nice selection of toiletry products. The room had a lovely fireplace and a lovely cosy feel with quality accessories. Our room was on the ground floor and had a lovely communal walled garden outside.
Wonderful place. All comforts thought of in detail. Lovely interaction with the staff. Had them reserve dinner for me at The Bell...great food & heard fantastic music live there that evening. Highly recommend the hotel & The Bell!
Warm reception and friendly staff. Lots of little extras made it a special stay.
Everything! The location was brilliant. The downstairs room with double doors on to patio was Luvly.
Great location , friendly & helpful staff, modern decor, really enjoyed stay here
Loved everything. The attention to detail is amazing. The staff friendly and helpful and the village beautiful. Cant wait to go back.
Nothing. Everything was perfect
The particular room we had was unfortunately rather small and cramped although the shower room was good.
Staff were excellent, engaging, knowledgable and helpful. The room was beautifully set up.
Absolutely everything! Nothing was any trouble to any of the staff. We loved it so much, we stayed another night. Definitely not a problem finding somewhere to eat. Plenty of lovely places to tickle your taste buds, within a minutes walk. EVERYONE in Stow, is more than happy to talk, help, smile and, welcome you. Well done Stuart House and, the people of Stow in the wold. We had a wonderful time and, will be returning .
Location was perfect, bedroom full of character, staff helpful and friendly, can't wait to return
Friendly helpful staff, great comfort, excellent facilities
Welcome was friendly and very helpful. Quality of interior was very good and good bedding, nice toiletries, and quality teas, coffees, local shortbread and port! Altogether a really lovely place to stay.
Superb staff Thoughtful The little touches
Comfy beds , well furnished rooms, extra treats provided in room and reception makes you feel welcome and valued as a guest. Very obliging staff.
Nothing! Loved everything about it.
Only downside no wifi or Vodafone coverage!
well decorated and very clean room friendly staff
very poor sound insulation: I was woken up at 12:30am by the guest next door having shower and flushing toilet. And the next morning, we could hear car/ truck noise at 7 a.m.
Everything was superb, from our friendly, helpful welcome, the goodies provided in the room, the quality of the fittings. We were in room 7 across the courtyard which was fabulous.
Not having breakfast on site.
The location was perfect in the centre of Stow. The double deluxe room we stayed in was spacious, clean and the little touches including bath products, a selection of tea's and biscuits were perfect. Staff were more than helpful and friendly, even when we saw Laura in the Bell on the evening, we were greeted by her. Lovely shower, comfortable bed with fresh white sheets, large white fluffy towels. I left my pj's in the room and these have since been posted back to me at my request, fantastic service!
My fiancee and I stayed here for two nights at the beginning of August and had a fantastic time. The location is perfect (right in the middle of Stow) and the rooms were wonderful. Due to a booking conflict, our original room was only available for one night, so we were upgraded for the second night and given free breakfast vouchers at The Bell (pub down the street which owns the house), which was excellent. Highly recommend it!
very friendly staff, very clean room, good location to explore the Cotswolds and a lovely bed.
Great location right in the centre. You need to pay for parking in the square or u can park at the bell pub down the road. Clean, modern bedroom , loved the quality toiletries , home made biscuits and mini decanter of port and quality tea and coffee in room. Nice comfortable bed .
Nothing major but perhaps they should have insulated the ceiling better as we could here the people in upstairs room snoring and walking about.
Clean accommodation with good basic amenities and central location. Helpful and friendly staff.
Room allocated was small. Could not walk round the bed and had to climb over. Noisy with people using the corridor outside to access their rooms across the courtyard.
Plenty of places to shop , eat + drink in stow on the wold . Stuart house was a great base to come back to after visiting surrounding towns + villages .
Sound of water running from shower + toilet from room above . We stayed in room 1
Quality of furnishings Thoughtful touches such as cakes & sherry decanter in room; videos & honesty bar in reception area Excellent food at associated pub
