No staff No towels in room
The castle is old and has a feel of history to it. Some modern touches but keeping the period of the castle
Rooms were basic but i understand work is on going. I will still visit again
The castle itself is stunning
The room was comfy but no colour in the room unless you like white.
Beautiful on the outside, beautiful entrance beautiful gardens
The rooms, very small, could just have easily been in any hotel, definitely not a castle, very disappointed with rooms and corridors
Wifi connection was not available. Couldn't connect at all!
Castle is beautiful from the outside
Rooms are so small you have to climb over the bed to get to the other side. First room has a window that wouldn't close. Holes in walls around sockets. Bath panel cracked. Grouting in bathroom Royston and falling out. Bathroom fittings hanging off the walls. Walls and ceilings are paper thin, I thought the couple above us we're going to come through the ceiling and I could even hear the couple in the room next to us whispering.
Bathrooms in need of some modernisation
Beautiful castle but surronding buildings joined on scruffy and unsightly
No staff ,driveway to castle terrible , room not ready, at breakfast fake security training very unnerving and was not warned .needs refurbishment . Carpets in room did not fit, bath taps and toilet seat loose . Grounds in mess no pitch and putt as advertised .some cobwebs in room .
Great building- very cheap
All a bit run down and reflecting former rather than current glory
Full English was excellent.
The poor condition and dated rooms. Look like they have not been maintained since the 1800's
Good value hotel. Always understaffed, especially in the bar, but the staff there are try very hard to help.
Freezing cold in the bar, even the poor staff were shivering!
The peace The setting The fireplace The architecture
1 st room tiny, £20 upgraded, no kettle, hairs in shower, shower flooded and door not close properly
nice room ,excellent breakfast. nice staff.
disappointed there was no evening dinner menu.
Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. The late meal (till 21:30 was good and reasonable value for money.
I think they could benefit by placing a sign at the entrance to the Castle farm access road (a cart track) to indicate the real entrance is just a few hundred yards further on (Sat nav issue)
Great value for money, but I would have been happy to pay more for a well decorated and well maintained room, The front of house staff are very friendly and do a remarkable job given the challenges they face. Despite the failings, I would stay here again.
What a great location - but the driveway is in such poor repair, it makes you doubt that the hotel has had any investment. The bedrooms and bathrooms certainly need updating. Noise insulation is poor and the windows need to be double glazed to keep out the draughts.
Quietness. The location and a modern feel to an old building
Having to get up early for work!!!!!
Excellent staff, good evening meal, breakfast hall ceiling, external appearance of building.
Shabby room, looked like servants quarters, horrible wall paper colour (gloss brown), mattresses as old as the castle so completely worn out. Had to lay on top of duvet from the 2nd bed to try and overcome the lumps from the worn out springs. Bedroom light at the door, beds down the other end of the long narrow room and no bedside table or light. Antiquated bathroom, disgusting lino floor, no light in shower area. Below average breakfast selection, food was luke warm at best. So much for de Vere quality.
Everything about this venue needs repainting, stair carpets were worn, the whole place from the drive to the outbuildings look tired
The staff are very helpful and friendly ,the Castle and grounds are amazing ,rooms are very comfortable and the free WiFi came in useful ,we both enjoyed our stay and have booked for the Valentine package already, can't wait.
Room very small and basic. Toilet could have done with a good clean.
The castle and the atmosphere was great!
The room was too dated
Wifi was awful, should not say free wifi as it kept going of every minute very very frustrating!
Quiet situation, got a good nights sleep. OK for a stopover for a night.
poor cleanliness, bathroom cupboard not been cleaned, and back of bedroom door was streaked with brown oily substance leaking from the door-closer. Gone-off milk on the breakfast table, quickly replaced by waiter once informed. was advised not to sit by window of restaurant due to cold - why not put the heating on!?
