lovely area, pretty castle, nice grounds, nearby pubs etc only a short drive away, about 25 mins from Stratford upon Avon.
Not very forthcoming with meals, it seemed like you could eat there, but we never saw anyone eating and it was very hard to find a menu or anyone to order from.
Good value for money - £37 for 1 staying B&B. Good breakfast. Staff professional & pleasant. Free Wifi. Nice main area interiors as expected of a castle & surroundings.
Better housekeeping required - room could have been cleaner. Set up for business/corporate meetings etc, so not the place for couples/families.
Character of building. Helpful staff. Good central heating. Spacious rooms. Good cooked breakfast. Free parking.
Mouldy sealant around the bath/shower. Shower screen didn't seal correctly against the bath.
Great value. Lovely spot.
The room had not been cleaned. Cob webs and spiders, also nest of lady birds all over the room. Very disappointed
Poor it support when booking in
Setting and building were very impressive, especially when arriving after dark.
The room was described as a standard room but was very tired looking and in need of redecoration. The shower was only luke-warm despite our reporting it at reception. On leaving, we told the receptionist that it was still not working properly and didn't even receive a "Sorry"! The flooring in the bathroom was peeling away from the walls where it lapped up to meet the wall covering.
Easy to find, plenty of parking space clean and tidy. Novel to stay in a castle. All modern conveniences and comfortable.
strong smell of sewage in hallway. Cold, poorly cooked meal, cold breakfast and uninterested staff. Small room.
when you drive up to the hotel it is very impressive but unfortunately that is where it ends, but you cant complain to much as it is really cheap
the whole hotel is very tired and has that damp smell that goes with old buildings, my room could have been nice with a lick of paint and some modern fittings but unfortunately it wasn't and the shower had all funny orange stuff on the tiles. sorry wanted to love this hotel I think it just needs some TLC
Dusty Old Either cold or boiling hot Dated
location to my customer (only)
"fitnes centre", atention to detail, under trained/under-staffed
the hotel was very nice but not enough staff to cater which was the problem with all we have seen
not enough staff to cater for any of the guests food not good at all mostly cold and been there for ages
Comfortable double bed Nice view from window Quiet Warm room and temperature could be adjusted to suit Cost of £36 Adequate facilities e.g tea/coffee, TV, hairdryer
Bathroom was functional although quite dated Bath towel was quite worn although I found another softer one in the wardrobe Receptionist was efficient but not particularly friendly or welcoming
The pleasant staff the grounds
The very uncomfortable worn out beds should be dumped on the local tip the tatty state of the room eg torn wall paper filled with a build up of dust in the crack unpleasant ingress of water stains on the ceiling dirty unappealing shower tray secondary glazing panes missing from 2 windows. No bedside lamps only one poor central light Breakfast in attractive looking dining room but chair seat pads so worn and sagging I sat at almost eye level with the table top self service hot cooked breakfast cooled as I waited for toast eventually realising that toaster was not switched on although timer was running! At £9.45 we expected a better breakfast experience This hotel is obviously run on a shoestring and boy does it show but cleanliness and comfort should be their main priority but it clearly is not we will never use de Vere hotels again and do not want you to keep emailing us
Very impressive driving up to the entrance. It is quite out of the way which was part of the charm. Definitely met our expectations.
Very dark country roads to go out for dinner.
value for money, good location.
We stayed here for a weekend on 1st Nov 2014. The castle is very impressive and we were pleasantly suprised on arrival. The twin room was a good size and nice and clean. We booked into the restaurant for our evening meal. This was the disappointing part!
The meal itself was nice but very expensive for what we got. Do not eat here if you have a big appetite. Also both me and my gran ordered the lamb for our main. When it arrived my nan asked for mint sauce. The waitress said yes and walked away. Two minutes later we were approached by the 'head' waitress/restaurant manageress who was laughing to herself. She then informed us that "you do not have mint sauce with this dish. Our chef has spent three days preparing the 'sauce' ie gravy and that it would spoil the dish!!" We were made to feel silly for asking for mint sauce with lamb! We were both gobsmacked that we were not allowed to have it. I feel that a customer should be able to have any sauce they wish and if it "spoils" their meal, then so be it. It would be my fault. It completely put us off eating there again and refused to spend another penny. I found this lady extremely rude!
friendy reception staff. friendy restaurant and bar staff. excellent evening meal and very good breakfast
bedroom smaller than expected
I like location comfort was so nice
bar dinning room and lounge beautiful
was put in a very small double room that looked like an adjoining unit of a family room. decorated in a horrible brown/purple colour on all walls which did nothing for the size of the room
Lovely setting. Building wonderful.
Evening diner was a total disgrace. Granted, it was cooked well but you were given tiny, tiny portions for £17, in the Nouvelle cuisine tradition.....all wonderfully presented but a complete disappointment. I had thought that these pretentious, rip off small portions had been consigned to 1990's history.
Great location in a nice castle with lovely gardens. Simple and nice room, very comfortable bed, good size bathroom. Perfect temperature in the room. Good breakfast.
Rooms not cleaned up to standard. 4 hairs into bed. Floor not cleaned properly into corners and dust on top of high furniture. Such a shame! Wifi not working properly but not a major issue for me.
It was a castle, what more can you say. It was set in good surroundings. It was fantastic inside, the bar was reasonable but there is a couple of pubs and nosheries about a 30min walk away ( 5 mins in a car ). We stayed in the castle and enjoyed a bar meal.
There was no breakfast in the package. The rooms were a little quaint but somewhat expected in a CASTLE.
Amazing location in beautiful quiet countryside Great value room and reasonable bar meals
Very tired décor - carpets, furniture and fittings all v. worn. Smell in corridors (fortunately not rooms) Wi-Fi constantly dropping out in bedrooms. Breakfast late for business traveller (7am)
