Good modern bedrooms I arrived for breakfast at 7.25 and no eggs of any variety were available on the buffet. I told a waitress and also ordered poached eggs. I left at 7.47 without them being served.

Great staff, great rooms, lovely bathroom, fabulous scenery and lovely local walks. The restaurant we had a table booked for 4 people and the meals were disasterous...completely unflavoured, unattractive food, not the quality expected from such a place. Either it was the chef's day off or they have a bit of a problem! I did highlight it with them directly.

The location is lovely, but the approach from the car park is disappointing. Service in the restaurant was very slow, even though it wasn't busy.

Hall and lounge is like a museum. Very low cost. Paceful coutryside circumstances. Room is normal and not spacious. But it is ok, considering the price.

Lovely old building in pleasant surroundings. Getting past it's best but at £40 a room, it was good value for money. The Free wifi did not work. I know it's one of those things but it meant I could not do some work as I had planned.

The illusion of staying in a grand castle, with the snow falling it was magical, will be returning soon. The public rooms were not warm, but being it was so cold outside maybe it could'nt cope, but our bedroom was lovely and warm.

Stunning setting room was damp and dirty [a smell of rotting wood] despite the reception aware of the problem no offer of another room. food was over priced and poor. place was understaffed and cold ,total lack of atmosphere.the sliced fruit at breakfast was dried out and curled up at the edges. With only four people in the resturant,I was asked if I had made a reservation,Then told it would be a five minute wait and could I go and have a drink in the bar first ,The same bar without any staff. Christmas party season and the place was empty...make your own mind up.

Good location, pleasant staff and reasonable price Room was a little pokey, but for the price was acceptable. There was a lingering smell in the room, like damp which was slightly off-putting by the morning

Thought it was very good , the bed was very comfortable wich is essential for us. The only down side was that there was no bedside table and lamp on one side of the bed. Could also do with another chair in the room. S Morrris

The approach to the floodlit facade along the avenue of Wellingtonias is almost worth the money! The chain-store stair caps and cheap-skate candelabra- lamp holders (strraight out of Woolworths 1970) in the dining room are an initial culture-shock but somehow add to the wacky appeal - for a fleeting moment you wonder - is it comandeered by the post-revolutionary forces, the Ministry of Utilities, or the yha? Fake mouldings in quite nice small bedroom continue to cast a sub-Hollywood spell - the late Ken Russell on a low budget? Overall, the aura is of a lack of pretension in a memorable. Even unique, setting: I loved it and will definiately stay again. Far better than the best possible taste at five times the price. Oh! And I almost forgot - the food and service was fine. For some reason the Castle is not named on the Ordnance Survey map; there is no tourist sign in Studley; the Best Western standard sign at the drive-end does not do justice to the visual magnificance of the approach (though perhaps offering a clue to the decor).

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, complimentary upgrade due to partners birthday and celebrating anniversary. Conviniently located to attractions and other villages. Perfect location Especially when there is no functions. However, the only negative is the bed caused us both poorly back. Was not comfortable, dipped in the middle. Other than that everything was perfect

the staff are very good nice building the rooms need updating and the design is not suitable for a hotel more a dorme which we understand reading the history of the Castle. the Wedding that was on Friday took over the complete place and the full staff available on the night. The mattress on the bed

The location and the building. More effort could be spent on the grounds immediately adjacent to the building. The outside seating area could be improved and the door to the bar from the outside should have a handle on it.
