The hotel clearly has a "no clean" policy as the first room they gave us was filthy and we had to climb 47 stairs to get to it. After complaining they did move us to the Bridal suite but sadly this was not much cleaner - and despite asking for the general manager I never got to speak to her. The bar was not vacuumed at all during our 4 day stay and the attitude of the staff, whilst "friendly" lacked warmth. A great pity as this hotel is situated in an amazing location and could be awesome if only some basic fundamentals were applied - sad!

I booked for a romantic break to propose to my partner very disappointed when told the restaurant was fully booked so the romantic meal was a no go so we said we would order room service told not available as too busy told to order a take away very poor felt like packing up the car and going home not the romantic weekend I had in mind

Food was very disappointing and the hotel removed the charge vegetables in particular and the shallot and wild mushroom starter was practically incredible. The hotel did feel a bit jaded.

I used this hotel when I was attending an exhibition at Birmingham nec. Part of it is a grade 2 listed building, at the moment the central tower is being restored although this only affected the photographs I could take nothing else. It was a little further from the nec than I thought, about half hours drive. However it was good to see a bit of the countryside and the hotel is certainly located in the Warwickshire countryside. I found the small bar located on the ground floor in one of the towers was good for bar food, the price and quality was certainly on par with pub food. Having read the reviews before booking I was surprised to see that everything was clean and tidy in the room. I had a single room in the old part of the building which was nice. Staff were helpful and I did not suffer any of the adverse things referred to by other reviewers.

The cost of breakfast is excessive at £12.95. There is a village a short drive from the hotel and I would guess that a breakfast could be had there far cheaper. Other than that I did not find anything adverse to mention.

The room I was given (118) had a rather grim view of outbuildings. It was of a decent size but clearly needed to be up-graded and refurbished. The bathroom was of the 1980's era, and again needed cleaning and repair (shower dripped constantly). Indeed, the hotel as a whole clearly needed a lot of money being spent on what it a fantastic building in a wonderful location. I felt that I was overcharged for the standard of accommodation offered.

Lovely views, fabulous building, the staff we had contact with were polite & helpful We would stay again, as we were visiting NEC & it was a good price & convenient, but it was a shame about lack of staff late afternoon/evening

Waited for 20 mins in the bar area, with other guests, without any sign of a member of staff. Gave up and went out for a drink & a meal locally. No menu outside the restaurant so wasn't sure if it was worth the wait. Carpet in the restaurant wasn't properly hoovered. Noticed crumbs etc under table by the window at breakfast & was still there by the following morning.

We enjoyed the scenery and the warm welcome of a log fire in reception and look forward to our next visit.

We did not like the price for further reference regarding our small dog to stay with us. We felt £15 a night was not acceptable.

The castle was a wonderful experience. The staff were most helpful and friendly and one even gave us a conducted tour with a history lesson. Marvellous views and large grounds with a reasonable price.

The cooked breakfast bar could have had hotter food on it.

Some refurbishing needed. Very 80's which is a shame. Reception looked like a general post office without the grills!

The hotel was extremely quiet, probably due to it being New Tear. The lounge area was lovely and comfortable with fires burning, giving it a real homely feel. The design of the hotel in "castle style" which made the experience very enjoyable indeed. Food was good too and the staff very friendly.

You can't drink the tap water. Obviously due to old pipework or the renovation which was going on. Not a great fault though as bottled water was provided.
