Nice hotel in a pretty market town near Oxford
Asked for a wake-up call 2 days in a row and never got one! Complained to the front desk both times and they didn't even have the 2nd day written down. They did have the 1st day but to no avail.
Friendly staff. Good location between Oxford and Swindon
Nice hotel, nice beds (important!), nice breakfasts, nice location, nice feel about the place. Altogether . . . nice!
Thought breakfast should have been in with the price, not extra.
Very peaceful and easy to walk to shops even though you appear to be a long way from anywhere
No swimming pool
The location is excellent. Did not try food, so cannot comment on that.
The room was very cold - had to sleep in my dressing gown and use a bath towel as an extra blanket. Hotel in need of refurbishment - wall paper hanging off wall in corridor. Very shabby in appearance.
Friendly staff, bed was clean & comfy.. Good facilities in the room I.e iron and ironing board, tea & coffee
Hotel decor was very dated and worn.. Could use a facelift
We liked the character of Sudbury House with all its twists and turns. The staff were very pleasant and friendly throughout our stay.
Maybe some of the cleanliness of the corridors, we saw a number of cobwebs. We only had one bath sheet in a room for two people.
cleanliness and comfort, free wifi in the room and free parking
The dining room (under reconstruction?)
I liked the service, staff was very friendly, food was really good.
Bar service was slow and the hotel was rennovating, so we had to climb a lot of stairs to get to the room.
Location near family Ability to check in later in day Good Beakfast
Tired decor in need of update Long wait for basic requests
Situated in a nice park. Nice building and large room with all comforts. Quiet location and very comfortable.
The hotel location. The hotel breakfast The Spacious room. View from window
Loud people in corridor.
nice quiet location not too far from Oxford (half hour)
The booking does not provide a street number so it was (not too) complicated to find with the navigation system
STAFF ALWAYS SMILING
BAR STAFF SERVED PORT IN A WINE GLASS
Comfortable bed Helpful and friendly staff Enjoyable meal
Shower lacked somewhere to put toiletries. Dining room could do with a few pictures
The Staff Breakfast Setting The new refurbishment
At the moment 223 - at the end of corridor should be condemned for constant 'noise pollution', coming from the boiler room. Hopefully the plumbing will be sorted, before any other traveller has a sleepless night!
A very nice hotel with good breakfast, very clean, nice and helpful staff!
Location and approachable manner of the staff.
Location, grounds, staff friendliness
Tired décor, limited facilities, limited menu
Friendly and helpful staff.
Very curious staff food excellent great location
Room looking very tired especially bathroom
staff exceptionally friendly and helpful
Arrived late, 9:00 p.m., as I'd advised in my reservation e-mail, and my reservation was respected. The facility is larger than I'd expected, clearly a hotel, not a Bed & Breakfast. The big car park ensure there will be plenty of space for all guests, in my estimation.
There was a room reformation going on in some rooms on the first floor, requiring us to lug our bags up the the second floor, traverse two hallways, take them back downstairs and walk another long hallway to reach our rooms. We were offered the help of a young man working at the bar to help us take out bags to our room, but I usually don't need that, despite being 71 years old, so I declined the offer. After failing to find our way through the maze we returned to Reception and accepted the help previously offered. A return to Reception, dining area or the bar would have required the same trek at the end of a long day of traveling, so we elected to just stay in our room and eat some fruit we had bought en route. Breakfast is not included in the price. The receptionist told us it is a "lovely" breakfast, but for 10 pounds each we decided to eat somewhere else after we got back on the road. We found another "lovely" breakfast at an inn not far away for only 6.50 pounds each. I don't flinch at spending whilst on holiday, but I hate being taken advantage of and that's what this felt like, since the hotel is located away from any nearby competition. The bed cover is a comforter and there was no top sheet or blanket provided as an alternative, so we were subjected to uncomfortable heat whilst covered and a very chilly room when we threw off the comforter, resulting in a bad night's rest for both my wife and me.
