Score from 57 reviews Fabulous
They were terribly understaffed and the few staff there were inexperienced. They never cleaned the room during the day nor topped up tea and coffee facilities. The advertised hotel bar did not open after 8 pm in the evening.
Cheapest ingredients on breakfast bar - jam, bread, fruit 'juice' inadequate heating in the bathroom (none) furniture, decoration badly in need of improvement
Wonderful location with stunning sea views. Lovely helpful staff.
Too many dogs for us
Wonderful stay and excellent food. With a warm welcome from everybody and nothing was too much trouble.
Lovely views, peaceful location, friendly and very accommodating staff. Good food but in small portions. Friendly atmosphere. The Chef makes great Marsh Mallows :) Should we be in the area we would be more than happy to stay at the hotel again.
Beds were unfortunately very uncomfortable but we were assured that they were due to be replaced. No heating in the bathroom, extractor fan very noisy. The fire assembly point notice in the room needed to be more clearer. (Room 11)
Great breakfast. Could not fault the cooking.
Would have liked butter not margarine on table for breakfast, and proper orange juice not squash.
Amazing view and location, quiet and great vfm. Excellent breakfast. Clean hotel.
V small bathroom, rough decor in room, maintained by basil fawlty, but still great vfm.
New chef and food is wonderful, lovely views and easy walk to the beach
Evening meal although expensive for what it was. Peaceful location , no noise pollution. Close to Salcome without being congested.
The room! We had expected a,sea view but instead had a back room above the kitchen and a grass bank to look at. Overall this hotel is overpriced and underequipped. After one night we decided to 'cut our losses' and go home due to the unsatisfactory room. We were then astonished to be asked to pay for the second night (£110) which I refused and during the inevitable argument was told that customers who book through booking.com are always allocated the inferior rooms!! This hotel clearly has a policy of profit first, customer satisfaction second. They do not deserve to survive.
the young staff was realy nice
the way the cook spoke to the young lad that works there ,it said all the rooms have sea view well we had garden view if you wont to call it a garden, cobwebs on the walls, you had problems filling the kettle up. The price for food a bit ott
Excellent location, lovely views and easy to get around
Very small bathroom, outside furniture require painting and windows need a good clean
The staff were friendly and professional. The food was very good. Bedroom with sea view was lovely, Hearing the waves on the beach at night was soothing. Our room and bathroom were very clean.
No mobile phone signal - not necessarily a bad thing!
Fantastic location (the sun even shone). Just drive a small car!!! Very narrow lanes to get there. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Great breakfast.
We only stayed 1 night wish we had stayed longer to fully enjoy the location.
food,staff and location
first room marginal - second good
Smoked haddock on menu, first two days not available third day smoked mackerel turned up, waitress said the wrong box was delivered, does the chief not know the difference ! I ordered scrambled eggs which turned up brown, obviously the butter had burnt, it was inedable
Ideal position for dog owners
Bedroom & en-suite disappointing, too small & very tired. Restaurant for residents also disappointing, not the type of food we were expecting, nor was a table reserved
Breakfast staff very polite but not always understanding ordering correct food.
We have stayed here several times before and found the location, staff, comfort & value for money really good. The food too has previously been good.
This time our room was too small for the two of us plus a dog. (As they were full there was no option to change it). Our real problem was with the food which was the worst I have experienced in a UK hotel. They say they have a "temporary" chef and things will improve!! I hope so!!
location was good friendly staff
just needs updating
room was very small for the price we paid
The food was very good.
The very small room. Room 2. Very poor bathroom. The shower was awful working of the bath taps. The toilet wouldn't flush with messing about with the handle. Dogs barking inside rooms in the hotel. Feeding dogs of the table.
View of the sea, Hope cove itself
TV was broken, no valance on the bed, bath had a pubic hair in it, very mean hospitality tray - a really basic budget hotel with no frills but a rack rate of £140 per night
Good views Quiet hotel and location Shower power Breakfast Staff
Smallish room Occasional food smells on corridor
Location, staff, food - all excellent.
Wi-Fi was patchy.
