Suncliff Hotel

Getting out of and away from hotel! Most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Room size - pokey. We found the bed very hard (We like a hard bed but like this was too much). Neither room nor hotel had anywhere pleasant to sit, relax, read newspaper, have drink (Large public rooms were either empty and soulless, or jam-packed full and noisy). Virtually all coach parties; not a place for the individual family travellers.

It was cheap!

Room was shabby - in need of a refurb, and dried blood on bed linen.

The food was excellent,

I was very disappointed with the location of my room, I had the air conditioning located outside the window, it kept me awake for hours,there was no other room for me to move into,would not stay there again from choice.

3rd time at the Suncliffe, always very good and will go again. However this time was different, we were up graded to hotel next door,"The Cumberland" brilliant, sea view,excellent service.

The art deco style and visual as we approached. Spacious reception. Rooms good size. Endless hot water, comfortable beds.

Just an odd smell in our room on arrival- my daughter described it as a mix of soap and fish!! bit this did go

Efficient without american gush. We were left alone to enjoy the stay. good breakfast selection.

Breakfast was disappointing. Poached eggs were cold and fish was poorly prepared. Admission to the restaurant was by staff but he was off chatting with other staff so we (and others) were kept standing at the entrance.

This was my 3rd stay & I appreciated being up-graded- I've just rebooked as I'm visiting B'mouth fortnighly for next 3 months

I didn,t have any heating in my room was kept up alnight with shouting and screaming

I thought the position overlooking the bay was really excellent. There were very goog opportunities for morning/evening strolls either along the cliff or going down to the beach.

the hotel has seen better days. The staff were noncomittal and not engaging at all. The room was inadequately clean I had to ask for the ceiling to be vacuumed as there were lots of cobwebs!! Underneath the bed had not been vacuumed. The bathroom blind was in a poor state. The television was small and a long way from the bed and only four channgels worked. The room was right next to the lift. The bathroom was clean and warm and the towels good, but the general look was tired. Doors marked walls scuffed. Very poor tea making facilities - miserly comes to mind. Breakfast - no fresh fruit and the poached eggs were poor. The toast was cut with a laser beam. Public rooms were adequate, lacked atmosphere and staff had no warmth.
