This was my third stay at Connaught Lodge. All the staff were extremely helpful, polite and efficient. The breakfast choice was superb and the standard was consistent. The hotel offers excellent value for money. I would certainly go back there.

The reception staff were very friendly and efficient. The leisure facilities in the main hotel are excellent. The breakfast was very good and the waiters and waitresses were very helpful and cheerful. Ample car parking spaces. Very good value for money! The bathroom was a little small but considering the room rate the accomodation was as I expected.

The restaurant was nice and the staffing here in particular was excellent. Same for breakfast. When booking this hotel the images that appears for the hotel look very nice indeed. It wasn't until I arrived that I found out that I wasn't staying in the hotel itself, but a separate building - The Lodge. This building was really of student/back-packers standard. The furniture was scruffy, the wardrobe doors didn't open and worst of all the walls were paper thin. Meaning I was kept up all night by other noisy visitors. As I was on a business trip and had to present a lecture at a conference the next day, this was really not good. I'm sure the main hotel was very nice, but I do think that they need to make it clearer when booking what the Lodge is and who it is aimed at. I was booked in for two nights but couldn't face the second so wrote off the money, checked out early and went elsewhere.

I was there on business but with some free time to relax. The room was of good standard in comfort and cleanliness and met my needs. The added bonus of a swimming pool and spa on site was a bonus for relaxing at the end of the day. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was close to all ameneties, so, on the whole a very pleasing stay in a good location. The restaurant served excellent food too!

The hotel staff were excellent, rooms were very clean, tea making facilities available. Nothing to dislike about the hotel. There were problems with breakfast - 8 -10am on sat and sun. It seemed that everyone had the same idea to go down at 9am. The hotel was fully booked and this caused the problem. We were asked to take a seat and wait until called (which is not a problem). but we waited and waited and then noticed that people who had come after us were being called in. When I spoke to the Restaurant manager he said he had a system (which obviously wasn't working) and to have another seat and still more people were going before us!!! After speaking to a difference member of staff, we were soon shown to a table. The breakfast was the most superior breakfast I have ever seen served. Everything was top quality and this made up for the 'system' that went wrong. However we never had an apology from the Restaurant Manager which I felt we should have had, however we had an apology from a member of staff.

Although our room in the annexe was very small, and possibly old-fashioned, it was very clean, and the bed comfortable. We appreciated very much being able to use the facilities of the main hotel. The swimming pool was wonderful, and the breakfast in the diningroom extremely good. The staff in the dining room were very good.We would certainly use the hotel again. \it is very close to the sea front, whch was great. The annexe was glld value for money - so although not was luxurious as we might like, it was what we paid for, and therefore good.

We were looking for a quick late break for our wedding anniversary on New Years Eve. This hotel ticket all the boxes for us. We enjoyed the spa, pool and sauna. We joined in the New Years Eve party and made new friends on the dance floor and had a few drinks. In the morning the breakfast was excellent. Throughout our stay the staff were friendly and helpful. As somebody who travels a lot on business and stays in many hotels around the world this, to me, was a shining example of how to run a hotel. We had a few words with the General Manager to tell him this! Jim Bridge

The hotel was welcoming, the staff were very easy to talk with and were prepared to spend a little time chatting. The spa and fitness area looked impressive, unfortunately I did not have time to use it. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The restaurent was very well run and the food was excellent. We would have appreciated additional pillows but made use of a cusshion to give a slight rise.

Generally the staff were extremely polite and helpful. In our room 238 the mastic round the bathroom floor, was coming away and looked messy. We had our firms Xmas do and enjoyed the night. But everybody was unhappy about the size of the portions, quality was ok.

Connaught Lodge is adjacent to the Best Western Connaught Hotel, with full use of their facilities - restaurant, spa, etc, but the cost of the rooms are a fair amount cheaper. They have plenty of parking and are situated within a few minutes walk of the shops, beach, theatres etc. Our room was large, with a light, airy, 'conservatory' type dressing area which was separated from the bedroom by a curtain. Breakfast, served at the restaurant next door, was excellent, with a comprehensive choice of both English or continental cuisine.
