Staff were all very pleasant and helpful Room was very nice with good décor bathroom was fab. Breakfast choice was varied Parking facilities good
To many stairs to room Small corridor to room smelling of damp (no air circulating) Toilet flush not giving enough water to remove waste Radiators noisy and banging Plates for hot food should be hot
Friendly and helpful staff
Staff were very polite and helpfull
Old, worn and dated furnishings
the room we had was lovely and the staff made you fell welcome
Location and quality of staff. Staff and meals taken in lounge excellent.
Lavatory seat loose in room 125. Breakfast food not hot enough --- heating elements on base of food appliances not switched on ! Only scrambled egg available -- we prefer fried eggs -- quite disappointing breakfast. Coffee half cold as was the tea -- only one and a half cups supplied. Breakfast staff mostly absent.
Nice size room, cleanliness, nice view of sea front. Lady on front desk was very helpful and pleasant
Booked a superior sea view, very disappointed in bed size as only a double size was provided in a very large nice room. Marriot website states it should have been a queen, king or two doubles. Not the case in room 102. Hence a not very comfortable night. Also can't believe they still charge for Internet in your room, most hotels are free these days. Shame on you Marriott . Definitely was not value for money and will more than likely not be staying again.
Lovely setting. Nice hotel, good, v spacious room. Really comfortable bed. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Good breakfast. Will be back!
£15 for WiFi? Seriously? 2014 guys
Food was good and general facilities were also good including swimming pool
noise at night. Room seems to be situated above kitchens so fans were keeping me constantly awake. Really poor response to complaint from receptionist
Lovely hotel, great location, good staff, lovely room.
Pillows to hard
My husband and I stayed at the marriott when we were down for the football as part of my husbands birthday celebrations. The hotel is lovely inside, rooms are spotless and our room was a really good size for a double. Bed was big and comfortable and the bathroom a good size. The hotel was an ideal location for us getting to the Stadium of Light if anyone else is looking for somewhere to stay for the same reason. Would definitely stay here again!
We didn't book breakfast in the hotel with our stay and in my opinion the cooked breakfast is overpriced. However there is a little cafe a few doors along the shore front called The Salt Kitchen which serves lovely food and coffee at a lot better price!

Staying for just one night
Creaky floor boards, uncomfortable mattress, bar not open
I I liked the spacious room and the food was goodI
Rather long corridors to trek along and no free Wi-fi in the private rooms.
We were pleasantly surprised by the very spacious and well appointed room and big bathroom. The staff were friendly and in the restaurant, funny too (in a good way!) Good leisure facilities too. Restaurant slightly lacking in atmosphere but the food was good although there are a couple of better restaurants just along the road. Breakfast as ever in these places, overpriced.
Three people in the room but only two towels provided, two cups etc. The roll-out bed was pretty uncomfortable. Bar and restaurant could do with a makeover.
Good friendly staff. Nice hotel as such with some very good elements reflecting good updating in places. View of beach.
Getting woken up due to a hotel administration error to clear a bar bill which had been put against the room. Falling back asleep is not easy when the party room television is audible. First room smelling of either urine or damp not sure which however considering my sense of smell is poor to begin with it must have been strong. Staff friendly and changed room no fuss. Lots of little areas need maintenance or replacement.
Location is great for walking along the seafront and the leisure facilities are an added bonus. I would never stay anywhere else in Sunderland. Public transport is convenient with Seaburn Metro sattion a bus ride or walk away and frequent buses to town and other places.
Everything was fine. The 'fair' rating for sleep was not the fault of the hotel.
Disabled bathroom - Needs a refurb and furniture update - Breakfast was awful
All of the staff were friendly and engaging and seemed to truly want to help at any opportunity.
The pillars in the car park need painting to make them more visible. The cost of my car repairs will be more than I paid to stay.
Gym was good, dinner was not bad
Specifically requested a double bed, ended up with a Twin
The hotel was very good and the staff very friendly, nothing was too much trouble
The staff went out of their way to give me the best possible room available, following a late change of plan/date on my part.
No complaints from me ;)
Pool and Spa well worth a visit
Breakfast, although very nice, was rather expensive at £14.90.
My son loved the pool...
