Set in 19 acres of beautiful tranquil parkland, yet only a one minute walk from central Hitchin, this attractive hotel was originally a Carmelite monastery built in 1317.
Score from 483 reviews Good
Conveniently located for Stevenage, Letchworth, Luton and Henlow, this family-run hotel and restaurant has free parking and free Wi-Fi throughout.
Score from 117 reviews Good
In the center of town, this modern hotel is close to junction 7 of the A1 highway. The train station is just 320 yards away, providing a 25-minute ride to central London.
Score from 444 reviews Very good
This refurbished hotel with free Wi-Fi was built in the late 18th century. It is located on the edge of the medieval market town of Hitchin.
Score from 91 reviews Good
Staff on reception excellent. Couldn't be nearer to town.
Bathroom tiles needed a makeover!
friendly staff good breakfast location
shower not working properly too many corridors and steep stairs to navigate to room, was like finding your way through a maze
- location - atmosphere
- use of wi-fi could be more fluent - breakfast buffet ok, but orders from kitchen only moderate this time - complicated interior
Great location to the town centre. Efficient service at breakfast.
Scurting board in bathroom was just laying in the floor. When going to check out I had to search for someone to do so. Hike up to to room.
This is a comfortable hotel well positioned, good bed, excellent shower, large TV. Breakfast nicely cooked and a good menu.Staff cheerful and helpful. We would stay here again.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. Our double room was comfortable and quiet. We would certainly stay there again
It was in a good position for us and was comfortable and clean.
It is a bit tatty in places. We go weekly for a rehearsal to the Greene King near Bournemouth and that is a bit tatty too. But nicer than a travel lodge or premier inn.
Good sized room, comfy bed, big TV, Powerful shower
Being in the centre of town it was a bit noisey on a Saturday night!
Staff welcoming and pleasant. Nice room (depite being too hot on arrival). Very handy for local amenities.
The room was like a sauna on arrival. Only one of the windows could be opened and with the heating "on" and no adjustment, it stayed a bit too hot throughout the night.
There were damp spots in the room Bathroom needs refurbishing
The staff were very helpful with my late checkin and looked after my bags for me. Room was lovely and very comfy. Wifi/tv and extras were all really great.
Only downside was the noise outside but it is to be expected in the middle of the town on a Saturday. The noise is corridors was also quite annoying.
Your Cloud wi-ci connection is RUBBISH. I followed the log-in instructions – then it wouldn't recognise my password then, when asked to answer a question it asked a question I hadn't answered. Marina, on the front desk, tried her own log-in: it wouldn't work. She called your tech support who talked her through it: it wouldn't work. She tried again: it DID work. I was logged in (using her log-in). Three hours later, the connection vanished and I couldn't get online again. The next morning it wasn't working (I was up at 7.30am). Not until 10.30ish could I get online. That night and the following morning I couldn't get online at all. WHAT A FARCE. I was planning on staying here again in Debruary 2015. Can you assur eme your wi-fi connection will be 100% by then? I doubt it, but I will seek that assurance, because the rest of the hotel is excellent. The staff were brilliant; shame about you not having a wi-fi system where you just find the network and type is the password. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING OF?
Breakfast was lovely staff friendly
Hotel noise from bar and party was unacceptable for a young child. Unable to sleep duevto excessive noise till 11pm
Getting our Son married off successfully
Noisy in alleyway between buildings when nightclubs close down
Good value and excellent parking. Very nice. :)
Excellent price Very good breakfast Comfortable bed
A bit shabby but given the price, a worthwhile trade off
Location is excellent for the centre of Hitching. Friendly Staff at Evening and Breakfast...
Design of the hotel is horrendous. General accommodation appearance is very tired. I had to swap my room (15) as I could hardly fit in it and the steps up to it are pretty much un usable!! Swapped me to another room (29) both rooms where very dated and didnt feel too clean. Bedding was fresh and clean but rest wasnt... Very noisy outside with baggage getting dragged along and linen / deliveries etc from 6.15am Would go back to be honest.
Noise & layout
Weekend rate. Good breakfast
Hotel generally a bit tired.
The room was clean, comfortable and close to bars.
There was nobody working front of house when we arrived. We had to wait a long time to be checked in due to a function. Once staff were there they were helpful and friendly.
Staff, Facilities and location were all great. Restaurant/Pub was good value and breakfast was excellent.
I love the 'Charm' of its beams. (A great pity you've painted them lilac in the bar area! The food is excellent, (especially the fried fish with chips)! All in all, a most satisfying experience staying there.
The great hike across the courtyard albeit through the upstairs passageway!
Room clean, bed lovely and soft, a little noise from other guest but nothing too loud. Good facilities in room.
No view just a wall, but as we were only staying the night it was not important.
Bar and food good value
Bathrooms need significant work to be clean and not grotty.
Great character + comfort
