Where the B&B is situated is on the outskirts of Colne.

Where the B&B is situated is on the outskirts of Colne. It was quite rural but nice. There is a lovely pub in walking distance that we ate at. But for other shops and amenities you would need to drive. It takes just over 20mins to drive to Pendle Hill. But it was a nice historic area to stay in.

We didn't really explore Colne as we booked the house so we could visit my parents who live 15 miles away in Yorkshire. We did drive up Albert Road on our way to somewhere else & there are some nice looking shops there, so maybe we'll check them out next time we're in the area. I am quite familiar with the place though as I used to go out there as a teenager (many moons ago) to a clubs called Franks who always had live bands on. Nice to see LouAndys music shop is still there, I bought a drumkit from them in the mid eighties, although it looks like they only do guitars now.

It is a quiet 'northern town'.

It is a quiet 'northern town'. They don't put on any airs and graces. It has some interesting shops. Plenty of food and drink and good supermarkets. They seemed a friendly bunch overall. They had a McDonalds and a Lidl so they were sorted. The surrounding area though! It is beautiful for miles and miles. Both Yorkshire Dales (it is really in the Dales) and Lake district are close.
