I loved the size of the room and the complimentary robes & slippers. The view was also amazing - we were in a sea front privileged room. The location of the hotel was great. Plenty round about. The breakfast was also really great, we were pleasantly surprised.

The town is not what it once was, but as someone born and bred in Ayr I have nothing to dislike about it. Loads of good places to stay and to eat for all tastes and expenses. Very easy to navigate around the town by car, lots of buses at regular intervals. 3 great golf courses if that's your thing, loads of nice walks along the river, beach and if you find it Craigie Park (great for picnics).

Although there is a selection of the bars, restaurants and shops, the town centre is sadly lacking. Many, many empty shops. Full of charity shops, nail bars and vape shops. Ayr used to be one of my favourite places. Sadly, unfortunately those days are long gone.

Not an awful lot to do especially for young people but Culzean Castle and Dumfries House worth a visit. We also enjoyed the Burns museum. Glasgow easy drive away. Ayr and other beaches would be great in warmer months . Best dinner was at Kirkton Inn, Dalrymple and best lunch at The Coo Shed

Ayr itself was a disappointment knowing how it was a number of years ago and how I is today, beggars dirty Main Street so many shops vacant and in disrepair
Outside the town is still as I remember clean and beautiful. You can’t beat the Ayrshire countryside.

Ayr was once a very popular seaside resort for Glaswegians, and also had a Butlins holiday camp nearby. All this had died out by the 1990s. It still has a very nice beach, and there are many golf courses in the area. However the town is very run down, with only a limited number of restaurants.
Access to Glasgow by train is good, with a train every half-hour taking about 50 mins.
The Paddle Steamer Waverley - the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world - offers occasional trips from Ayr Harbour during July and August.
The hotel was within walking distance to the beach. We managed to park right outside it. The owner was really lovely and gave us tips on where to eat that was dog friendly, as we have a dog. She also advised me on where to run, which I did. It was a lovely touch to have some cookies and the first hotel with hot chocolate in the room too after almost two weeks. The WiFi was also very good too. All in all a very nice stay indeed including a very large double bed too. Would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to book in Ayr.
We had a great stay at the Horizon Hotel. we were in a loft room which was fine we just got a wee bit lost trying to locate our room after a few refreshments lol. staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good too. would definitely recommend and we would return. the outlook is stunning too, right on the beach and we had a lovely sea view.
the outdoor seating bit was fab too and we were very lucky with the weather.
The apartment is spacious with a lovely view. It's ideally located within easy reach of Ayr town centre and the beach.
There are two nice hotels nearby that are open to non-residents that serve good food and have a nice selection of drinks. There is also an Indian restaurant close by where we had a wonderful meal one evening.
The apartment has lovely grounds and is a true home from home.
Obviously a prime spot for Ayr Races! We stayed in the courtyard rooms separate from the main hotel building…. Main hotel is very nice, courtyard rooms are also nice but distinctly different from the main hotel… gardens around are lovely and well maintained. All staff were very friendly and attentive, breakfast was excellent. A very comfortable stay and would recommend this hotel for sure.
Staff and also local customers were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. So much so that we have decided to visit again. Beer from own Ayr Brewery next door was very tasty. Room had lots of extras despite budget price. Hotel was quirky but comfortable.
Stunning apartment with excellent location in town centre and parking available. Spotlessly clean and Neil has thought of everything guests could need when furnishing his flat. We were all very comfy and cosy and just loved every minute of our stay.
Beautiful hotel with great staff and very accommodating to our two dogs, would defo recommend to anyone with a dog as the lovely Ayr beach is just round the corner, one of the best dog friendly hotels we have stayed at.
The hotel location is fabulous, very close to Ayr beach, the breakfast was good. The owner made the stay, she was very welcoming and attentive. Chic 70's style in the lounge.
Very nice hotel. Staff are always pleasant. Short walk to both seafront and centre of ayr. I would highly recommend the Kylestrome to anyone looking for accommodation in ayr.
Great room and breakfast, very nice and helpful staff. Plenty of parking and close to town centre. A relaxed dinner with some local food and chat from the staff.
