This family-run hotel is just off the A27, opposite Shoreham Airport and 1.5 miles from the sea. It offers free Wi-Fi, free parking, a bar and a good seafood restaurant. The Sussex Pad Hotel is in lovely gardens in the beautiful South Downs countryside. It is close to Lancing College and is a mile from Lancing Train Station. Brighton is less than 10 miles away and Worthing is 4 miles from the Sussex Pad. The hotel has a sun room and parts of the building date back to the 18th century. The rooms have modern facilities, including TVs, suit presses, telephones, hairdryers and tea/coffee. The Ladywells Restaurant specializes in fresh seafood from Brighton fish market. The menu changes each day to reflect the produce available. Hotel Rooms: 18

Friendly and helpful reception staff, nice room, shower cap which not all hotels supply these days, plentiful drinks. Website instructions on how to reach you from Brighton totally misleading (according to reception staff that I had to call when I got lost)and impossible to follow in the dark.Waiter service at breakfast welcomed, but not good. No interest in what he was doing, didn't clear the table properly when collecting dirty plates (left other finished with items on the table), when I asked for scrambled eggs on toast the waitress brought the scrambled eggs a good few minutes before the toast arrived that they were supposed to be one. When I asked for more toast, I realised I wasn't asked if I wanted white or brown and I was given white, despite having chosen brown for the eggs. As I left the hotel, the waiter just watched me leave without saying goodbye. He could do with training in Italy.

Food very good in restaurant in the evening and service unobtrusive and timing right - not too rushed and not too slow. Variations in menu dishes were given immediately such as change of vegetables, etc. Staff friendly and efficient. Only complaint was our room was a nice temperature on leaving it to go down to dinner, but on returning radiators had been turned on and both bedroom and bathroom were very hot. In June the heating wasn't needed and infact we kept both large windows open the whole time we occupied the room. One thing that did amuse us was the wall-mounted tv screen had obviously leaned too far to be viewed properly so somebody had wedged a half full toilet roll under the bottom of it to keep it in a good viewing position. We have a pic if you need it! Otherwise it was a good venue for us as we were joining family living in Shoreham for an rnli naming of new boat and official opening of the new station on the Thursday so everything was nearby. We have stayed before, but had a room at the front which was quite noisy due to traffic. This time we had a room at the side and noise from traffic was much reduced.

Nice spacious, comfortable room. Freshly cooked breakfast served promptly to your table in the morning (maybe lucky that the hotel wasn't very busy) rather than helping yourself to the usual tired old buffet! Not the best hotel if you're sensitive to traffic noise as the busy a27 runs directly outside and you are inevitably aware of traffic from early morning to late at night. We came back to the hotel at midnight and the place was in complete darkness - couldn't see it at all from the road and tricky to find your way in!

I have family who live on the same road as the hotel so if I stay this is very convenient. We were allowed early checkin at no extra cost and staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean but rather dated and the bed was hard. The breakfast was extremley good and service 1st class. I would stay again because it is so convenient to visit my relative.

Friendly and accommodating staff, very clean rooms. Breakfast was good & the location (for our purposes) was excellent. Noisy, of course, it's right on the a27! I wouldn't have liked to stay there in the summer - but I knew the drawbacks of the road noise when I booked &, with the windows closed, it wasn't intrusive. The hotel couln't find the booking when we arrived - and blamed .booking.com of course - however, there was no problem finding a room for us.

Fabulous food, nice rooms, however, the linen on the beds was too small and the sheets came out from the mattress. This did impede a good night's sleep. However, that said, we had an enjoyable stay and the best breakfast we have ever had!

Very friendly staff Meals were overpriced for what they were, rooms on the front of the hoterl get loud traffic noise from the hotel so impossible to have your window open and sleep, no air conditioning. Room was dated and getting shabby.

The restaurant - food was excellent, very fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked and nicely presented. Bed was a bit soft for me and swayed a bit on getting in. Room was clean but a bit worn - hence two stars I suppose.
