Ideally located in the historic capital of Cumbria, the ibis Carlisle is just 215 yards from Carlisle Citadel Train Station.
Score from 1136 reviews Very good
An independent, family-run hotel in an extended Victorian home, with many impressive original features. Close to the center of Carlisle and the M6 freeway.
Score from 189 reviews Good
Just off junction 44 of the M6 freeway, only 2 miles from Carlisle's center and within easy reach of the Lake District, the hotel offers comfortable, affordable rooms and free parking.
Score from 347 reviews Good
I liked that it had a gym, a pool and jacuzzi and that I could park at the hotel. For the price the food in the bar was great, I didn't try the resturant. The breakfast was very nice and was enough variety for me. I also like the location as close to City Centre and where I was working, and local amenities close too.
The rooms are a bit dated but for the price is was not a negative, more of an observation.
LIKE THE WELCOME. VERY HELPFUL WITH THE PROBLEM WE HAD WITH THE FIRST ROOM..
SERVICE AT OUR SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY MEAL.
Spa and pool facilities available. Staff friendly and helpful.
A bit tired and run down and in need of a facelift.
Only received 2nights out of the 3nights we had booked due to hotel having to close were very dissapoi nted
Hotel has great potential but last time it has been painted and updated was probably at least 20 years ago, as such very dated hotel.
Friendly staff, nice clean cosy room , filling breakfast
Thought the bar prices were slightly expensive, parts of exterior in need of makeover.
Half the bar menu was not available as the "van" hadn't arrived, which was a little embarrassing as we had booked our American friends in and there was little choice, it was a case of what have you got!
Just about everything!
Staff were helpful and friendly; good disabled facility in our room; quality of food excellent . Overall stay, an enjoyable experience.
Access from main road to hotel entrance not very easy to find, signing somewhat obscured.
There was nothing about this hotel that I could write about in a positive manner.
This hotel should be closed.I don't understand how Booking.Com can continue to promote this establishment when it is in such a poor state of repair due to obvious lack of investment.I voiced my concerns with a member of the hotel management team on departure who said that someone would get back to me.I provided written contact details but I have received no response to date even though our stay was four weeks ago.My advice is to avoid this place at all costs. Booking.com can continue to promote this establishment when it is obvious that little investment has been made in it for years.I voiced my concerns to a member of the hotel management on my departure and was promised that someone would get back to me.To date no contact has been made even though i provided written details as requested
Staff were very good and informative t
Everything required refurbishing
Cheap and cheerful. Leisure facilities after walking Hadrians Wall
Very tired look
We enjoyed having a swim in the pool & relaxing in the jacussi. All facilities are good and so close to the town & castle, it was a good place to stay.
There were a few too many steps to access the inside and to get to our rooms and when going out on foot too. One of us had a back injury, otherwise this would not normally be an issue, but something to consider if steps are normally a problem.
Hotel was clean and tidy. Room was a bit dated needed a makeover.Having said that the bathroom was in very good condition no complaints there, and we had a good nights sleep in a comfy bed.breakfast was very good also.
Very nice bedroom, quiet and clean.Lovely breakfast, staff friendly and helpful.Easy access from M6 motorway, easy access into Carlisle centre,Stayed here at least twelve times, usually for two nights at a time and we have found it very good value. looking forwards to our next visit, already booked .
The swimming pool & Jacuzzi Breakfast Some staff were lovely and caring.
Some staffs attitudes were questionable. Beds and pillows are so hard I could not sleep, even though I had walked 17 miles that day. No bath.. Service was very slow as there was only one chap on duty to take food orders and serve at the bar for all guests... when my meal arrived it was the wrong one, so i had to wait even longer for dinner, my drink was forgotten about too.
Breakfast was good.
It would appear nothing has been spent on this hotel in years. My wife and I have used it over the years, unfortunately the state of the rooms continue their downward spiral.
pool and spa great breakfast good
the carpet in the bedroom was thredbare, small repairs needed and left and the electrics kept tripping in our room needed a lot of t l c
Hotel very tired needs a good revamp outside looks like a disused factory first impression not good
Facilities. Leisure Club. Breakfast
Room was a bit small.
Nice budget hotel
Room was extremely hot
On arrival a warm friendly welcome, information given about all the hotel facilities, the restaurant & bar. The food in restaurant was wonderful & the staff could not have been more helpful - food & service excellent. When going to Carlisle we will be staying at the Swallow again, two nights were not enough!
We liked everything & enjoyed our stay - there was nothing we did not like.
The friendly welcome, helpful staff and the inclusion of a good quality breakfast all combined to make our stay a pleasant one. The hotel is located a short drive from the town centre and the football ground - both of which we visited during our stay.
Although the hotel was clean, some areas looked in need of refurbishment.
A poorly decorated uncomfortable place stuck in a time warp. Approach road and car park disgusting. Insufficient room and barely marked. Missing, untrained bar staff for long period ( only person on duty). Long wait for missing products at breakfast
