This hotel was misleading on the website as we thought it would be a clean hotel, as I was on business I required wifi which the hotel did have however was not connected to the internet therefore had to travel to another venue and use theirs. The rooms were very basic and the hotel is in need a refurb. Staff wonderful, food delicious, beds reasonably comfy (we were a party of 2 couples so had 2 double rooms), some parking in front of hotel or if full then plenty of space in free public car park next door, good location Hotel built 1432 - incredible - amazing stained glass window in lounge - like to see photo of that on website - interesting history Understand age of building may dictate design of eg heating system so this may not be a 'fair' comment - corridors and our rooms very, very warm with hot pipes running through so rooms still warm even with rads off and windows open - it was November but weather very mild

The under cooked watery poached egg The fact that it was full of drunken idiots in the bar till 01.30am who were also roaming the halls being noisy untill 4am. It was an absolute joke and neither me or any of my company will be staying there ever again!!!!

Receptionist was really funny. Cooked breakfast was great. Ballater is just 10 miles away, with good restaurant, nice environment. We read the comments before our booking, so we knew what to expect= cheapest b&b in the area when we were looking, fair room for 1 night to sleep only. Bathroom was very poor. No wifi in the rooms, and at the reception it was very poor also.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and made our stay enjoyable as possible. Food excellent could not fault service.the location of hotel was also situated well for our personal circumstances. Decor very dated and run down, would benefit from a makeover, better lighting in rooms could also help. Our room had no telephone.

Nothing, it was purely the only hotel available and I would not stay again or recommend Food awful. First room given the bed was two mattresses that could not be slept on. Asked to move room. Only 2 channels on tv.

Nothing springs to mind. It was really a base from which to visit other locations. There were a few areas that could be improved on and the hotel was certainly looking very tired and shabby.

Leaving Pokey wee room, poor breakfast, workmanlike evening food. Not the best but cheap so I suppose this must be expected.

Friendly staff and excellent location. Rooms were comfortable but sparcely furnished and lacking a smart finish. The breakfast bar was uninspiring and a little disappointing for the price. We enjoyed our stay but we feel the overall decor and feel of the place was not good enough for the price!

Advertised as having WiFi but only available in the Bar and then poor signal. Should not be allowed to advertise WiFi unless it's available throughout the hotel. Food was rubbish, clearly frozen and then poorly cooked and presented, salad and coleslaw accompaniments ok but on a warm plate? Yuk

The residents lounge. The room was barely large enough for the bed and to get out the shower room you had to squeeze against the shower to be able to open the door, the room was so small. The shower was ancient with a broken shower head. The sink was a miniture hand basin with broken plug. The breakfast had a good choice but the tea was is a big pot and kept warm on a hot plate which meant the tea was too strong and tepid. The hotel has 50 plus rooms of which only 11 were being used, yet we were in a room that looked onto an empty storage space at the back of the hotel, yet we were in a beautiful part of the town which could have had glorious views. Would not want to stay more than one night in this accommodation.

Location Hotel runs a disco on Saturday night we stayed there. Not able to sleep until after midnight. Only appeared to be 5 rooms occupied and we were given one facing the back looking onto a pretty rough service area. Also adjacent to the centrall heating boiler chimney and with window open noise was intrusive.
