We are thoroughly disappointed at being allowed to make a reservation via booking.com with a Hotel that had gone into receivership and was no longer in a position to accept bookings!!! The best advice we were given on arrival at the Hotel was to accept alternative accommodation that would have taken us on a journey of the same distance we had just made to get the Swallow Hotel in the first instance. Negotiation by my husband gave a far better alternative of the Tickled Trout, which was more appropriate for our needs. Having used booking.com regularly on an almost weekly basis, I would have expected a far more professional approach to this situation and can only, once more, express disappointment. Eileen hemmings

The location was ideal. Good size room. Good breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. That it had a pool/leisure facilities. Plenty of parking. The dining chairs, although quality hj Berry chairs, were in a terribly tatty condition. The room desperately needs redecoration. Bedroom layout good but very 1990's dated. The lounge furniture is old and tatty, From outside the place looks closed down. The front facia is all rotted and falling off. In short, the whole place is in need of refurbishment. I stayed at this place many years ago and then it was a very smart place, well lit-up at night and had a regular bar trade. It used to be 'The place to be'

Breakfast was so good and the spa and facilities was excellent Lift had a terrible smell, the whole place was tired, needed serious decoration as paint was all chipped off, wallpaper hanging off, no excuse for such a lovely hotel to have such awful paint needing refurbishment. Value for money £23 per person you couldn't complain, but what a shame that it needed such a Facelift. Bedroom clean and very comfortable. Please buy some paint. Staff were awesome. Thank you. The hotel is showing it's age and is need of a complete refurbishment in the public areas and bedrooms. But it was convenient to where I needed to be, also the buffet breakfast offered a good hot selection of food.

The pool and spa area and the bar/lounge/restaurant are nice. The evening meal was ok, but they did run out of some of the food, we had to wait 1/2 hr for our main course to arrive after finishing the starter, but they did apologise for the delay. If I was paying the full cost of the meal i would not have been happy but for the money we did pay its was ok. Other than this we really enjoyed the overnight stay and if the price was right would stay again. The hotel bedrooms need some attention. Carpets were dirty and a new lick of paint would help

Value for money, I will certainly use this hotel for all my visits to Lancashire, whether business or pleasure. The location is ideal for Manchester, Preston or Blackpool. The staff were courteous, helpful and friendly. Needs refurbishment in certain areas.

The room was fine. Not overlooked and a fairly pleasant outlook. The staff were pleasant and helpful, especially when I put in a complaint about the sink plug in our room bathroom. The problem was solved quickly and efficiently Apart from the weather being a bit shot, there was little we didn't like, although the dining room was a little on the cold side when we ate on both evenings.

Can't really call it a negative but yes the Hotel looks slightly dated & could do with money spending on it, but it had all we wanted with the decent gym, jacuzzi, steam room & pool. The room was clean & the bed was lovely & comfy & breakfast was also included in the price.

Its often the staff that make a stay pleasant and thats the case with The Swallow Preston. Leisure facilities a bonus. It's a hotel that needs some tlc. The decor is old and tired and given its recent ownership history you can see why the money has not been spent on renovation. But having said that I'd prefer to stay here than a Travelodge. At least the bed was comfortable for me!! Restaurant food overpriced.

The Hotel was warm throughout. The leisure facilities were good. The dining area was pleasant and the breakfast sufficent in size. Parking was plentiful. Access to motorways is very good. Room was shabby - torn upholstery, door kicked in and carpets throughout the hotel were worn and threadbare (extensively repaired by tape). The tv was so small we had to sit 3ft away to see the screen properly. Old style 15amp electric sockets in room so that a bare minimum of appliances could be used. No exterior lights turned on, so carpark in complete darkness and insecure. No vegetarian option offered for breakfast We have stayed at Buckatree Hotel, another Swallow property, and the contrast is very distinct. This Preston hotel I fear is being allowed to become run-down!
