Hotel good position on edge of city centre. Friendly staff.

I was disappointed with genral upkeep and appearance of the place. Shabby furnishings and paintwork, badly fitted bathroom suite and uncomfortable beds. Breakfast could be more exciting.

1. The television controller did not appear to work. Batteries were changed in the handset, but tv only worked for a short while before reverting to not working again. 2. There had been a water leak, through the ceiling (over the head of the bed), which left the ceiling paper bubbled and stained. No attempt had been made to improve this. 3. The control on the thermostatic shower damaged, resulting in the very hot water which could not be cooled. Water was far to hot to risk a shower. 4. Apart from the TV problem I did not report anything else to the hotel management because I heard (from within the Hotel) that the hotel was closing down after the end of May and would then be used as student accommodation. Therefore there wouldn't be the drive to correct the problems. ( I would like to add that I had stayed at this Hotel many years previously and had been very happy with my stay then.)

The room, the food, the cooperative and friendly staff

Poor TV facilities - nothing more than basic, no radio. Lack of wifi, and even where it was available, it was charged for.

We had a lovely room, which was very comfortable. The breakfast was good as well. The hotel is well located. The staff were friendly.

The staff were outstanding, friendly and helpful. A superb location for easy access to the city. The food was top class.

Unfortunately the hotel is in administration and has been so for some length of time. Sadly the neglect in upkeep is very obvious and this is a shame given that the hotel has obvious potential. This would not put us off staying again, but only because the neglect is outweighed by the staff and food.

Staff all friendly and helpful

Facilities in room a bit dated eg Shower hit andmiss, thermostat on radiator apparently no use as could not turn heat down at night. Main gripe was sound of 'something running' like a pump? all the time

Beautiful room for breakfast and a good cooked breakfast. Hot water constantly. Location. Free parking.

The decor was old and tired. Tellevision ancient.

It was very dirty and very tired looking, I didn't see any part of the hotel that wasn't in need of immediate and significant redecoration ceiling to and including floors. The breakfast was pretty poor. The cost was therefore not value for money.

We were upgraaded at no extra cost. The room was huge and really comfortable and the location just perfect.

TV was old technology and the remote didn't work

The run down overall nature of the hotel. As I left I suggested to Reception they tell the owners to at least refurbish the entrance as a matter of urgency, since it gives such a bad initial impression of the hotel.

The whole place needs a makeover. Leaking gutters outside, plaster coming off the outside walls, badly fitted linoleum in bathroom etc Place seems dead with no atmosphere.

room very spacious, it was nice to have an easy chair, you dont get them in modern hotels.

shower facility was a bit dated and not very efficient.

Room 111 was clean, spacious and comfortable. Good shower, fresh towels!!

Partner thought the beer could have been better.
