Historical Hotel. Cleanliness. Staff very efficient & friendly. Would have been nice if restaurant had been open for evening meal. |

Location and atmosphere were everything. It did not pretend to be anything other than faded English comfort, so in keeping with a visit to Canterbury Cathedral. The full English breakfast was exceptionally good - possibly the best we have ever had. Whilst one or two members of staff were exceptionally helpful, the predominance of other-than-English not very helpful staff was a bit at odds with the rest of the hotel. Dire dining room decor |

Close to city centre and amenities and surrounded by countryside They no longer have a restaurant. Staff could not locate a local venue we were visiting. |

Nice hotel, ideally located at the Westgate, where the main shopping street of Canterbury starts. Friendly staff, and very nice breakfast (both continental buffet and full English breakfast served). The bathroom could use some renovation, but everything works and it was clean. |

The location near the centre of Canterbury, and easy walking distance from the railway station. The parking within the Hotel plus nearby car parks. The drone from the hotels kitchen extractor fan which was on until 3am. |

We liked the location. Our accommodation was excellent. The breakfast service and quality could be improved. However it was satisfactory. |

The hotel is in a very good, central location The restaurant has closed so you cannot eat in the hotel or get room service, which as a woman travelling alone is important to me. The bathroom was dingy and badly in need of refurbishment. The room rate is far too high for the facilities offered and the ambiance of the hotel is quite frankly depressing. |

The staff are very helpful, the hotel is clean+the food is really good.I had an upgrade and had an amazing room, full of old world charm. Floors creaked a bit but i expected that in an old building+it didn't spoil my time there. |

It was an excellent base to explore Canterbury. The room was large and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good. We loved the old building with its interesting layout and were pleased with the parking facilities. One disappointment was that the dining room was closed and we had to go out for meals. |

Friendly, efficient staff, comfortable rooms in the annexe, great atmosphere from the building itself, stayed in the original building and the annexe. I'm 6'4" and found the annexe more comfortable (i.e my feet didn't hang out of the bed) but the original building had a great historical atmosphere in the context of the city, really convenient location for the sights and pubs. Wouldn't hesitate to recomend to others on a weekend break. Mattress in first room (16) was obviously first used by one of Falstaffs contempories and the Wife of Bath (repeatedly!!) No draft real ale but then again up against some excellent pubs within a stone's throw of the hotel. Bottled Ale came to the rescue, all was forgiven!! |

The central location in Canterbury is perfect for visiting the city: car parking also very useful and necessary. It is also a historic and picturesque building. A radiator in my room was not working and I was cold. There was also a perncious smell in there! I reported this on departure so hopefully it will have been seen to! |

On booking I enquired about Vegetarian options and was phoned the very next morning by the hotel to re-assure me. Free newspaper was nice. No very comfortable and welcoming. Bed pillows could have been thicker or more plentiful though. |
