Very friendly staff; Good breakfast; Within walking distance of all main attractions; Good parking space with overflow car park;
No air conditioning; Room location on main street, so noisy with drunks at night and street cleaning, beer deliveries etc from 5am;Carpets in halls threadbare and needing cleaning. Shower operation complicated with no instructions.
historic lodging from 1403 well maintained, fabulous breakfast
a bit pricey
Great location. The hotel has car parking.

Location was excellent. Very efficient breakfast service despite the large number of guests. Food was continually monitored and topped up.
Nothing we can remember!
Great place to stay on a short trip to Canterbury - car park so useful. Staff friendly. Pub feel - too our taste.
Strange room with 2 singles on 2 floors with TV downstairs - fine for 1 night, would have asked to change for more.
Location was brilliant
The location. The staff. The breakfasts. The room. Free parking.
The fact that there was never any staff at the bar to serve.
Location and attitude of staff.
Accommodation was very run down. Dirty walls and carpets in accommodation entrance and rooms. Bathroom damp, dirty and fixtures loose.
Atmospheric old coaching station, breakfast very good, my daughters thouight that the boys at the reception were "hot"
rather loud street, windows don´t close properly, old carpets, the whole place needs a good renovation and make over
The staff were excellent -friendly efficient and a credit to the whole hotel .
The hotel is very tired which is a shame given it's excellent location Our bedroom was very shabby especially the bathroom which looked grubby and in need of a total refurbishment . The bed was very comfy .
The Taprooms are charming and represent all that is good about traditional hotels.
Location is top notch! Hotel is very charming. Atmosphere is nice. Breakfast is very good.
NO AIR CONDITIONER in rooms. Our room #5 was facing in and was like a SAUNA the whole time we were there. We had to sleep with the window (it barely opened) open and a fan. We continually got up to wet ourselves down. It was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. NEVER stay here during summer.
Everything. We visit once or twice a year and this speaks volume. Wonderful hotel, location, staff etc - all the visitor wants and needs.
Nothing - it's really that good.
The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The hotel its a hidden gem for the price given that you are not of the type enjoying traditional business hotels. The buildings are filled with charm and history, of cause at a price, the ceilings and floors are leaning in every direction. Hotel is situated close to an historic landmark - west tower. There are plenty of eating and rinking places nearby and the high street is just outside of the window. Nice poarking place for guests arriving with cars.
Just very clean nice place verygood location
Location was good. Very quaint.
My booking confirmation says that wifi is available in all areas. It is not available in my room. It is however available in my bathroom. So if I want to use the wifi then I have to sit on the loo to use my laptop or phone on the hotel wifi. The hotel ad is false advertisement. I would not have booked this hotel knowing I could not use the Internet simply sitting on the bed or desk in my room. The "manager" stated that I must be too far away from the router. No compensation was offered but to use the lounge downstairs. The only justification I received was that the wifi was complimentary. Nothing is complimentary. It is factored into the cost of the rate for this room. Mangement said that all other guests had checked in so he couldn't move me. But then later offered to show me other rooms to prove they were all the same. Uhhh what? You just said they were all checked in so how are you going to show me a room? Oh never mind I can't... The manger was ridiculous. Then I was kept up most of the night with people shouting from the street. So when I finally fell asleep at about 2am I was woken up before 7 am with loud banging from somewhere next door. I was furious. When I went down to check out and complain the reception staff simply said oh I don't know it is only me and the cook in. Maybe it's the pub next door??? So now I'm headed to work a very busy day at the hospital with very little sleep. This entire stay was very frustrating. I am very disappointed in the the process and handling of this booking along with the management of my stay. I will not be staying here again.
Good location, good breakfast, rather big room, comfortable beds.
low water pressure in the shower
Really enjoyed our stay, we had a room out the back number 45, massive comfy bed, biggish room and patio doors. Breakfast was lovely too. Free car parking and free wifi.
The fact that we only stayed one night.
This was our first stay and we will return . The location, with its connection to the medieval pilgrims and proximity to the Westgate gave a sense of history, and free parking made it easy to see the city. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable. The breakfast buffet included some amazingly delicious sausages.
location,bar , breakfast,parking
creaking floorboards noisy banging of doors, general noise from other people
