Score from 523 reviews Wonderful
Situated within the Roman city walls of historic Canterbury’s center, this family-run hotel dates back to the 16th century. It has free Wi-Fi, a sit-down restaurant, and a cozy, oak-beam bar.
Score from 545 reviews Very good
A delightful old pub close to the center of the city and its many tourist attractions. The ruins of the ancient water mill (hence Miller's Arms) on the River Stour remain alongside the pub.

great location good breakfast
traffic noise bathroom little tired and in need of up dating
Staff very helpful.
To much road noise in front of house bedroom, started 6am ended after midnight. No cooked breakfast, kitchen refurbish,no mention of this prior to visit, would have booked another hotel if l had known. This was our 3rd visit first 2 really good.
location, parking. hotel full of charm
bathroom and bedroom was filthy, cleaners need to be shown how to clean. room was made up properly tho. sorry to moan but wont be going back again now
Large room, very comfortable bed, good breakfast. Value for money.
Bathroom needs updating but only a minor irritation.
Friendliness of staff
Staff were polite, courteous and extremely helpful. Breakfast plentiful with a wide selection to choose from. Room clean and tidy with everything we needed.
Room was on the ground floor at the front of the hotel ...room 25 and suffered with noise problems from the road and street outside. Only an issue when pubs turned out etc. hotel offered ear plugs if required. Not enough to spoil the experience.. Just an inconvenience.
Lovely staff. Beautiful building. Perfect for visiting Canterbury.
Very small quib. .. The pillows could be better quality.
Twin single beds when I booked a double. No breakfast and the refund of £10.80 was only enough for two meals elsewhere. The bathroom was very dusty on top of the sink lights.
All staff most helpful and friendly. Any request for assistance was dealt with promptly.
If anything, I would suggest that a little more attention is paid to cleaning. Bathroom floor was dusty and light fittings over basin obviously had not been cleaned for some time.
The accommodation was superb & comfortable & I would definitely go back again.
Warm welcome. Hotel right at the heart of the town, and opposite a fantastic restaurant!
No cooked breakfasts, which we had paid for! we were offered continental breakfast and 2 drinks vouchers per day or a totally inadequate refund and told we could go to a local Witherspoon for a cooked breakfast. The offered refund was less than half the price. I will not visit this hotel again.
We were warned on arrival that cooked breakfast would not be available and offered alternatives
The continental breakfast option was disappointing , no croissants , pastries or decent bread/rolls.
Room very comfortable.
Told on arrival that breakfast would not be available for our 2 night stay. Very disappointing as we had booked sometime in advance and feel that the Hotel could have informed us earlier.
This is an amazing old building in an ideal location for visiting Canterbury. All the staff were pleasant and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent.
There isn't a restaurant for evening meals at present.
Quirky nature not a chain
Location in relation to town, accessibility and free parking. Excellent breakfast
The staff were friendly and helpful from the moment I entered the hotel. I was in one of the annexes so was a bit of a trek but worth it when I got to the room. It was a "cosy" double but was a decent size with all I needed for the night.
Comfortable room. Pleasant staff. Free parking prior to check in and after check out.
Quite charming and glad we were on the top floor. Excellent service from all the staff.
Staff. breakfast,parking, location.comfy rooms
Bathroom needed TLC.
Lovely , quirky hotel.. Friendly efficient and helpful. Breakfast was lovely! Great choice and plenty of food even when we came down towards the end of service. Lovely bedroom very cosy. Great value for money and fab location.
The staff at reception were efficient and friendly. The coffee/tea-making facilities were very welcome. The room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was excellent.
