Setting on the river is nice.
The hotel is very dated. The bathroom was mouldy. The food was terrible, and the restaurant staff terrible.
Good location, very helpful and pleasant staff, room clean and comfortable .
There was no shower
Third stay at the George and very pleased with the staff, the food and value for money. Situated by the bank of the North Tyne in beautiful and historic countryside. Would stay again.
Whilst the public rooms are OK the rest of the accommodation is beginning to look the worse for wear and needs redecoration and possible refurbishment.
I have coeliac disease and was very impressed with the provision of tasty gluten free food it was a great treat to have food with delicious sauce! The staff were helpful friendly and efficient.
My only criticism is thet the river front age was a little neglected.
The location, easy parking and reasonable food at reasonable prices.
The bathroom was a bit 'scruffy' and the shower didn't work very well.
The Location. Beautiful place beside the river. Peaceful and restful setting.
We had a nice dinner.
We were notified the room we booked was not available even though we were in transit. It was our 38 th wedding anniversary and it put a damper on the occasion to say the least. We had to spend the night in a pub guest house, and no appoligies from anyone when we arrived for dinner. Certainly not what we expected from this hotel.
The stunning location and the beautiful area to explore. Even the buses were friendly and useable Overall "package was very good value.
Breakfast was wonderful, but the main meals were disappointing.
Everything needs updating.
The four staff worked flat out and were helpful ,cheerful but at times seemed disorganised. Some effective management would be useful.
The hotel needs a major overhaul. The standard of food was poor and the wait for one course was extremely long.
Charming stone building,Position of hotel, Dining room overlooking the river, staff, surrounding area. Gardens although untidy. Breakfast.
Shower not working properly couldn't regulate scalding hot water. Was told by staff to go through garden to get to reception glad it wasn't raining, could not find access through hotel. Room lighting not even bright enough to read. Hotel desperately needs a rip out and refit.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and lovely jacuzzi and swimming pool with sauna and steam room.
The location is great if you have a car, there are no restaurants or pubs within walking distance. The choice of food in the restaurant is quite limited and expensive.
it is not disable friendly
the distance from the distance from the room to the dineing room
Friendly staff and lovely room
pool very shabby and in need of a bit of TLC. bed very hard but maybe we are spoilt by having memory foam mattress at home food fair
Spacious room & bathroom. Situation ideal for North-east attractions (eg Roman wall, Alnwick gardens, Cragside, Beamish museum, Durham cathedral).
Bedroom floor very creaky, spa & pool building showing signs of age, meals not up to their price.
Too much, need more than 200 characters
The location is beautiful and the staff were very friendly
Needs some urgent damp proofing and updating.
Poor food, clearly felt they didn't need to try for the little extra due to location and popularity with older generation. Shame , as great location
Staff were very friendly and helped us greatly. An excellent stop in Hadrian's Wall path.
Not enough staff in reception, restaurant or bar, poor attitude of barman
lovely area of England,
rooms are a bit outdated.
Banging door outside room and pillows
Hotel very tired.. Had to change rooms We travel a lot and stayed in many hotels. This was very poor value for money Bed was uncomfy.its a longtime since we felt springs. Chairs in room hard as a rock. No decent lighting Will certainly not return!
The river by the garden
The lay out of the hotel, no lift, tatty leisure facilities.
Position is good and close to lovely walks and towns The building has character
The bed was small and uncomfortable and the whole place needs a spruce up with paint and attention to detail
