The food was good Room was tiny with a tiny window which opened only slightly. there was a generator outside which kept me awake for most of the night. Water was cold in morning. Bathroom and carpet were very dirty - long black hairs all over carpet and mould behind taps in bathroom. |

Food was good, nice rooms, close to sea and harbour walks. The main restaurant seems a bit shabby now. The walls needed wiped clean as there were significant liquid spatterings (dark vinegar or similar) on the wallpaper next to the tables we sat at - both at dinner and breakfast - at opposite sides of the room. It was dried in so not recently done, which seemed a bit uncared for. Little things have changed since it has changed hand a couple of times in the last few years. Bathroom toiletries (previously Molton Brown) have been replaced by unknown brands; the breakfast menu used to be a proper leather 'menu' but is now a laminated A4 piece of paper; the complimentary tea/coffee in the rooms used to have small bottles of Strathmore water and now doesn't. The portion sizes for the dinner are adequate - the starters in some cases were miniscule and not value for money. If your first time there then none of that would really make much difference, but if you've been before (and certainly when Morton Hotels owned them) you would feel that the standard has dropped and the things that made it feel a bit special have been dropped in favour of cutting costs. |

Location restaurant seemed badly organised, scruffy decor, small single bedded room, food expensive compared with quality offered |

Our room, and its view of the gardens was delightful. The breakfast was much better than expected. The standard of facilities and furnishing was also better than expected. The receptionist on arrival had difficulty in identifying which rooms enjoyed a good view (which I had requested) having allocated a room prior to our arrival which looked into the coutyard. |

Regrettably I have nothing positive to say about this hotel. It is certainly not what I expected bearing in mind it is classed as a 4 star hotel. There was an air conditioning/heating system right outside out room and it was very noisy. The shower was nothing more than a dribble and the carpets looked like they hadn't been hoovered. The face cloths in the bathroom were also dirty. There was also a large damp patch on the ceiling in the dining room. Very very disappointed with the hotel. |

On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to the tower suite which was fantastic. Huge bedroom, separate bathroom and an upstairs sitting room, great views from both rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had food delivered to room but it was awful, like it had been too long in the microwave. Orange juice at breakfast tasted watered down which was dissappointing for a hotel of this calibre. |

I liked the grandeur of the old original building, the decor and the comfort of the sofas, chairs and beds. The grounds are beautifur with lots of magnificent, old trees. The old building must cost a fortune to maintain and it was sad to see that some of the windows and guttering required maintenance. |

I liked the sense of history and the fact that Charlie Chaplin used to stay there when he visisted Nairn. The hotel was also lovely and very comfortable in a fantastic location with lovely grounds. There was nothing I did not like about the hotel. |

We felt very relaxed and welcome, we enjoyed the layout of the hotel, seeing the sea from our window, and the highland cattle. What a delight to have heated floors in the bathroom. Great place for a wedding. |

The best thing was the hotel room itself, fairly big with big bed and bathroom. They only had 4 tv channels available from a supposed 15 ( Not a major issue but it was Champions League night!!) The breakfast fresh orange juice appeared to be watered down and there was not much of a selection for the continental breakfast menu. |
